Post requirements and restrictions are silly. Staff members and regular members say all the time that post count isn't important here, so restricting people from helping others - opposed to building a post count to prove you aren't a spammer so you can claim songs and whatnot for claims thread - seems unnecessary for deciding who should be someone who can adopt a newbie and who can't.I'm not exactly a staff member... But in my personal opinion, there are two good ways to go about this. If the mods are willing to put in some effort, there could be some restrictions set. Say, 100, 150 posts required? A one time reviewing process? As for "firing" I say there should be no reason to fire someone that isn't already breaking the rules as it is. Basically, all rules apply and if the adoptee simply isn't satisfied, they can ask for a different adopter
I do think a reviewing process would be a good idea. Members who are interested in adopting a newbie can post stating their interest. I do feel like there should be at least one restriction, like, the member must have been a member for at least half a year (or even more) or something like that? And after they post displaying that they're interested, they can be reviewed upon by the NU/W moderators to see if they are suited, and they'd be added to the list, and then a newbie can come along and choose who they would like, since it's to benefit them.
I feel like a good thing would be to change it to an Adopt a Vet kind of thing, instead of newbie. It's better to have the newbie be as comfortable as possible, and that way members who just joined can show that they're here for more than just to download Shiny Gold or something. I feel like the best way they can be comfortable would be for them to choose who they want to be their guides along the way to becoming contributive and an excellent addition to the community! And if they aren't satisfied with who they chose, they can choose someone else. n__n
Biographies and all that can be posted on their profiles, so I think a requirement would be to have your about me filled out with all the information you feel comfortable with posting on the internet so new members can have the best understanding of who you are and can be more comfortable with you.Perhaps each adopter could submit a short bio about themselves such as interests, age, and a personality description to be under their name in the list.
