[Spoilers] Alain

Let's talk about Alain, as he's now a part of XYZ's plot. Alain is a trainer who wants to beat all the mega evolutions, etc. He is now part of the main story plot, and is set to battle Ash in the next episode. Discuss Alain. What do you think about him? What other Pokemon do you feel he might have? etc. You can discuss his battle with Ash in here when the time passes, too, or predict stuff.

It appears that Charizard is his only Pokemon in his team. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he want to beat all mega evolutions with just Charizard? I feel he and Ash will battle one more time when the Flare arc is at its climax, though it does question who will face off against Lysandre, so the battles prior to that will have Alain as the winner.

In the preview for the next episode, we see Ash's Noivern against apparently Alain's Metang.

Given that the episode will have Clemont helping Ash with Greninja's transformation, I suppose that first match will be a kind of sample to compare against the data gained from the next battle.

 

[Lizardo]

XY&Z023 addressed the possibility of Alan entering the Kalos League. When Eureka asked him about it, Alan said that he wasn't interested, but there's no reason he couldn't change his mind. I can't think of another reason for the writers to start giving Alan more Pokémon if he weren't going to use them.
