All time favorite pokemon character!

I haven't even played Sword and Shield, but Piers is easily my favorite character. I am his biggest fan (self-proclaimed lol). It took 20 years for the first Dark type gym leader, and they absolutely DELIVERED. He even has his own unique battle theme, which is a great theme btw. I also love how he created Team Yell just to support his little sister and boost her confidence (Marnie reminds me a bit of myself). Best big bro. And as odd as it is for me to say this, I guess he was my first "fictional crush"? I don't really like this term because I don't consider any of mine to be romantic, but I never thought about characters in this way before.

Another favorite of mine is Grimsley, mostly because of Pokemon Masters - his Sygna Suit card is easily my strongest card and is almost always on my team. I've had it since it was first released in 2020. I love how he randomly shows up in Alola and looks absolutely washed up.

Also a big fan of Rika. I haven't played Scarlet and Violet either, but the first time I saw her I was absolutely FLOORED. She is GORGEOUS. I literally re-downloaded Pokémon Masters a few months ago just because they added her in the game. I love how lovey dovey she is about her Clodsire. That is the correct way to talk about Clodsire.

Other honorable mentions, in no particular order: Adaman, Nessa, Marnie, Allister, Archie (ORAS), Cynthia

Very obvious coming from me which is Raihan, but if I have to choose another one.. It would be Hugh!

Hugh is an awesome character, I describe him as "different from other rivals" because he has an interesting story. Something about his character is just awesome and got stuck onto me.

  1. Cynthia
  2. Iris
  3. Nemona
  4. Misty
  5. Whitney
Cynthia has always been my favourite champion to go up against, she's awesome and always provides a challenge no matter which game you battle her in. She also has the best theme imo.

Iris and Nemona are both pretty cool and have great designs as well as teams, particularly Iris with her Champion rematch team in B2W2.

Misty and Whitney are both great Gym Leaders and were always particularly challenging for me when I was playing through the games for the first time. Misty has some pretty cool designs throughout the games she appears in.

Kiawe is a great pick! His serious yet hilarious moments in the anime were gold, and his trial was super fun.

For me, Silver from Gold & Silver is my favorite Pokemon character. His arc from arrogant rival to strong-willed trainer was amazing, and his connection to Giovanni made him even better.

Anime-wise, Paul was my favorite—his rivalry with Ash in Diamond & Pearl was the best.

What did you think of Kiawe's Battle Bond moment with Turtonator?

A few come to mind:

Barry:
Reminds me of my best friend who introduced me to Pokemon. He also looked and acted like him a lot. Playing through Sinnoh brings me back to those days and I always liked Barry's hyperactive personality. Reminds me of myself in many ways.

Silver:
A mean rival that fills the boxes for "edgy character you wish you were like as a kid." My main reason for liking Silver so much is his growth as a trainer and the lore surrounding him. You put him in his place each time but also see how he slowly reflects on how you beat him. He becomes really likable by post game Kanto. I think his cruel nature really stems from being Giovanni's son. If he were raised right I think he wouldn't be so mean and I think about that a lot.

Chuck:
This tough guy trains by a waterfall almost every day. He may not look like it but he's the real deal of fighting type gym leaders. Also he has a Poliwrath. Really cool.

Crasher Wake:
We got a professional wrestler as a gym leader? And he uses water pokemon? That is so cool.

N:
Do I need to explain this one?

Hau:
He always felt like the kid that welcomes you to his neighbor. Your first best friend. He may not be in-depth compared so other characters but I still did like him even if a little generic.

Cheren:
Your rival turned gym leader in the sequel. I really liked how Cheren begins to question himself as a trainer on what it is he wants to achieve. Not just to become the best, but to realize there is more to being a trainer than that. Also seeing him become a gym leader after 2 years felt like he found what he wanted to be in becoming a trainer. Plus, he looks like Uryu from Bleach.

Cynthia, it was the first trainer I struggled against after I really learned how to play Pokemon, and she's just that of an iconic character, Her design is excellent too, I can't think of anyone beating her as my fav character anytime soon
