Allergens

Is there anything that makes you sick when you are exposed to it?

I have some environmental allergies. Significant dust can trigger to me have coughing spells, wheezing and trouble breathing. I also don't do well in settings where it rains day in and out- my eyes turn red and watery, my nose is congested, my throat burns-- I think it's the mold spores from the dankness, and pollen being carried around.

As for food allergies. I seem to be allergic to aloe. Topically, like in a beauty product, it's fine, but was told once that you could ingest, and it was healthy-- just a tiny spoonful left me sick to my stomach and bed-ridden though the whole weekend. I also have learned to watch out for peppers. Just traces of it like a shake or two of chilli powder mixed into a sauce don't bother me, but when it's a primary ingredient like a stuffed bell pepper or a Sloppy Joe I can't handle it.

Have you noticed any adverse reactions?

Mainly cat dander. Suffers from a runny nose after about 10-15 minutes of petting. Experiences it after being near a cat for a sufficient length of time too. Suspects this to have been the cause behind annual bouts of bronchitis when younger.

Has a notable dust mite allergy as well. Feels mildly queasy from inhaling a lungful of dust.

Reacts to ragweed and a few tree and grass pollens. Never notices them much (or easily attributes it to them). Takes medication to keep them in check during Spring and Fall. Likely helps to be a very indoor person too.

No (known) food allergies, thankfully.

I'm only allergic to two antibiotics. I break out in rash.
My mother, however, has terrible environmental allergies.

my diagnosed allergies are dust, three types of pollen, and mold/mildew. those are the only ones that give me sinus symptoms and trigger my asthma. my clinically-observed-but-not-tested allergy is MRI contrast dye- itchy eyes and throat, that was weird af. day to day observed sensitivities-that-may-or-may-not-be-allergies are... all melons, various underripe fruit, fresh pineapple, and any type of kiwi. all those make my mouth/throat itch like crazy 😬 im also sensitive to a lot of like... beauty products, especially ones with scents. make my skin itch.

i take daily allergy meds so it keeps most things at bay ( ◜‿◝ )👍
