True but the Charizard might be so strong that you need to fight it with other trainers in order to defeat it, notice this:

Very possible. Designated Charizard as a seven-star battle. Made events against legendaries impossible (or near impossible) alone in Sword/Shield, thanks to detrimental partners. Cannot rely on a double Rock weakness either. Expects someone like Florges to be good.
 
I think the games have always kind of leaned more towards encouraging you towards using new Pokemon, all the way back to Diamond and Pearl the transfer features were late game, so them waiting to enable Pokemon Home makes sense and they probably want to fix some bugs or refine the transfer system to those games first.

The possibility exists that players can use both previously transferred Pokémon and the new Pokémon. Players aren't required to use only one team for a playthrough. I was always the player that used more than one team. I usually have a consisting of my favorites and the new Pokémon that I like as well.
