To each their own. People see what they obviously want to see, claim it obvious, and sometimes leave the rest of us scratching our heads. It's natural, despite some cases being way too straw-ish.. That's not the part I personally have a problem with.
It's the claims of canonicity that drives me nuts. "The writers were ____shippers! This is the way they were going!" and people saying one was more canon than another, despite none of them being resolved...which makes none of them canon, thus their claims are moot.
It's why I find 'shipping the more impossible 'ships to be so much more satisfying. Less drama by leaps and bounds, you're not constantly trying to debate its validity, andif it's not a "threat" despite its impossibility (Pallet, Coma), then you can get away with whatever.

Jk but yeah, I like Ash best with Misty, so I hope she comes back at some point. And Rocketshipping is my favorite ship. Even non-rocketshippy Team Rocket episodes are my favorite (although they're arguably one and the same...).
Oh gosh... to me it just looked like he's just eager to take Ash's order. He's supposed to be a gym leader, isn't he?

We don't even know how old Iris is, she could be the same age as Ash. I'd like to take a bet and say Ash and Iris are the same age. People thought Ash was older than Dawn even though it was confirmed on the website that they were the same age, I don't mean Cartoon Network website either, the Jappanese one. The owners of Pokemon said he'd never age, I tell you he never will, which means Max will never get a PokemonXD We haven't even seen how tall Iris is yet, she could be as tall as Ash is. I'd like to see Ash and Iris on the same page this time, not have Ash be a mentor, he's done that too many girls now. While I love Ash being a mentor too, just I'd like to see a different relationship this time.

I agree-- I hope he ages a little. The reason I think they might finally do it is because the show seems like a companion to the games (and vice versa, now), so if the games are targeted to an older audience, the show might be, too. I feel like some shows in America are taking more risks to cater to two audiences, so I wonder if Japan might be doing the same. (For those who are outside those countries, is this a trend you've noticed in your cartoon programming as well?) If so, we might see an older Ash after all, and maybe finally one more like Red from the games (who always seemed older by the end, and might supposed to be).
Oh right... this is a shipping thread. I think if Ash islike a mentor to Iris, it would seem very wrong to ship them, and that would free them both up to develop interesting relationships with others around them, romantic or not.

What would be wrong with shipping mentor/student? Pokemon training doesn't come with a student code of conduct. You can make out, cause not to mention anything further, with your mentors for all any Pokémon government cares.
On the other hand, I find it unlikely we'll be going the same way as AdvanceShipping. I am not exactly sure though what else is possible. Just gonna have to wait until later September.

I understood where the mentor angle was coming from, but ultimately, Ash wasn't much of a mentor to May; he never really "helped" and if he did, it was in the beginning and didn't carry out through the full run. He still had his own pursuits, and obviously couldn't devote himself to helping her.
If Ash is taking a backseat to gyms and Iris is doing them, then he's taking over the joint Misty/Brock role as "coach" and not simply as a facsimile of one.

O_O Is that likely? I want to see Ash DOING stuff. I couldn't stand it if he just retreated into a gag role. Unless it's done in an ultimately cool way.
I don't remember seeing Team Rocket on a preview or opening but are they? I'm sure they're still in it, but I was wondering because while I doubt they will be getting any awesome new outfits, I haven't seen anything to the contrary besides that one sketch. For some reason, every time they get new outfits I feel like it's Rocketshippy, or that Rocketshipping is about to go down. (I'm not counting cross-dressing, obviously...).

That's what the current assumption is (why do we need to see him doing any more? o.O I'm tired of watching him; 13 years is plenty). There's only so many other ways it can go.

And a straight mentor roll over the bodyguard role (baggage) at least gives her a chance to shine, and Ash can focus his attention all on her. Equaling Negaishipping in the eyes of its fans, I'm sure.
Yesterday's preview was also the first time we saw Ash. TR...Sigh. They might not make the preview, but they'll probably make the cast.

Well I like Ash and am glad he's still the main character and doing things, I hope he trys out for those Musical contests now that'd be intrestingXD

Alright. Since I've never really said anything other than I'm an Advancedshipper, I suppose I'll explain myself.
View on Pokeshipping. Throughout the original series, every time it seemed that Misty may have something for Ash, he simply was just like, "lolwutt?" Now, while this is in part due to the fact that he was not nearly as mature as he is now, it was also made a point that neither Brock and Ash really found Misty attractive. She never got those, "Wow (name) you look great!" type statements that May and Dawn both have gotten. I think Ash still had a more "best friends" type thing the more recent times she appeared. I'm sure Misty was probably meant to have a crush on him towards the end of original series, but Ash just didn't seem to have the same interest. After awhile, I'm pretty sure Misty just sort of let it go. That, and a lot of Pokeshippers (not all, don't get offended :P) seem like those people who are all like, "every Pokemon after 150 sucks because that's all I played/watched growing up." So, yeah.
View on Pearlshipping: My view on this is sort of similar to Pokeshipping. Throughout DP, Ash and Dawn both seemed to just have that best friend mentality. You know, all the high fiving, etc. When Lyra asked Dawn how she felt out Ash, she legitimately had a surprised feeling if you ask me, and the embarrassment/blushing was only brought on because nobody had ever asked her a question like that, not because she had feelings for Ash in particular. Ash and Dawn are extremely close, but only in the friends/do your best type thing. Ash crying over Dawn's contest mishaps seemed like he was more generally upset she hadn't one than because he was sad the girl he liked lost. Moreover, they were just seemed like friends, once again, with neither side really ever thinking about a romantic interest.

Both Ash and May seemed to have the same care for each other that Ash did with Misty and Dawn, but it seems to me that it existed slightly beyond the level of care for her as a Pokemon trainer. May really looked up to Ash as well as admiring him, and seemed to really look to him as a guide for things beyond Pokemon. Ash also seemed to have a protective side that May often used, even when she did become stronger and more confident. Neither Misty or Dawn really had that type of protective relationship with Ash.
Anyways, that's just why I pick what I do. Of course, none of the shippings will ever be confirmed and this is all just pointless speculation, but it's fun nonetheless. :P Those three main ones are the only ones I'm relatively interested in though. All the minor ones are meh.
