    ...that there will ever be a main site for Pokecommunity. I suppose the "community" in the name would aim it towards only being a community, but a main site tend to attract a bit more attention than a forums does, and it would be a nice way to cut down on a lot of the sticky threads.

    If not a complete new page, then possibly a vB portal?
     
    I honestly don't think PC needs a main site. I would find it repetitive to the forum community. Pointless; That's why there are Community Sites. ;D
     
    ^ ^ Pretty much what Forgotten said. We attract enough attention through the community anyway, a main site wouldn't be needed.

    Well, I honestly can't agree with that. If you were to take away Smogon's, Serebii's, or Marriland's main sites, I'm sure traffic would decrease tremendously at all of them. There are people that prefer sites over forums, and end up choosing not to join a site because it doesn't have a main page. Saying that a main site would be pointless isn't really accurate at all, as it would decrease all the sticky threads that are building up in each section, increase traffic to the site, and increase the overall professional look of the site. Also, if news were to be posted on the main site, more users would see it, and they would know what was going on more than they do now.
     
    Um, the reason why traffic would decrease is because the main sites actually house a significant amount of useful information. I doubt that having a main site would be too useful from an informative standpoint as there are already great resources on the Internet.

    However, a main site would be nice for news as you mentioned, and the unique aspect of PC which is the Hacks Showcase, a little page for each of the hacks would be nice and it will certainly help it.
     
    Here's the thing about PC (and it's been this way for... 6 years now). It has more then one main site, it has 2 or 3. See "Community Sites" are Pokemon sites that gave up their forum to make PC their main forum (now... them updating their sites is totally up to the webmasters and PC has no control over that). SPPF has SPP... and PC has PPN, Seafoam Island, and so on.
     
    If people prefer to join forums that have a website as the main page, then that is their choice. PC already accumulates a lot of traffic and members from simply having its community sites. Not only that, the forum is the very first link Google will give you if you even key in "Pokemon Forum", so from it we also get a lot of members joining through there. It's a scheme that has been going on for as long as PC has been up and running, and that's not going to change. We're not trying to be like other websites, that was never a goal. Furthermore, PC alone stands as one of the most active Pokémon forums on the internet. That's rather self-explanatory, don't you think?

    What news? All news is about the forums, and I don't see how a website would help the news of A FORUM, which can be posted via Threads; plus there's also RSS feeds aswell. PC has acquired over 80,000 members. All through referrals off the Community Sites and word-of-mouth ( Can we really say mouth if this is the Internet? XD;; ). A site won't make any difference really. That's what the community Site are for. To attract more members. This forum belongs to PPN Studio, Total Pokémon and Seafoam Island. Those are the "main sites" as you would say. No point in a website; none at all.

    Well, I've seen the community sites, but they don't really reflect the forums at all imo. There really isn't any discussion about them in the forums besides their dedicated sections, which stay dead the majority of the time. Also, you generally end up at these forums before you can find them, which defeated the whole purpose of having a main page, which would be getting all the serious information to the users before giving them the discussion.
     
    And that's the thing... them sites ARE PC's sites. And you say a main PC site would pull in more people... I disagree. We've grown into a forum with 83,000 members, and 4.1 million post, mostly due to PC itself and not the sites. If anything I think PC would help "that site" and not the other way around.
     
    Well, I can see that you disagree with a main page, and that's understandable as you've had a good thing going for a while now, but I have yet to see a site that hasn't increased in activity with the addition of one (A couple of my own included).

    It's not like I want this site to be a clone of all the others or anything, I just think that instead of looking through an entire thread to find all the information you need, it would be much simpler to go to the main page and click on an article about it or something.

    If you go through the sections you'll see threads like *Guides to D/P* or *Tier List* or *Graphic Tutorials* etc. The site is full of information, but without a singled out page to list it all, it's pretty hard to find.

    I'm pretty sure they pretty much covered that the community sites ARE, more or less, the main pages for PokeCommunity, and Siggy already explained that traffic comes here from the community sites as well. So.. perhaps... I don't see what you're trying to say?

    PC is a forum; a community. There's threads for that kinda stuff. And Staff.

    The main page of the forum pretty much has all of that and if you read the descriptions of them, you'll see exactly that. I don't see how all of that would be hard to find seeing as how it's all listed right there. And if you can't find it, there's a nifty tool known as a search.
     
    Haven't you ever heard of persuasion? I wouldn't have posted the thread if I didn't expect a discussion out of it. I just feel like I should get all my opinions across before completely giving up.
     
    Believe what you like, PC is essentially a community that houses all sorts of information. All it takes is a Search query or just roaming about the different sections we have to answer most of your queries. That and we do have RSS Feeds to help us keep up to date with news. When we have these resources in our possession, what on earth would a main site have use for?

    Having been the same way for so many years, persuasion isn't going to work. It's exactly like the slogan. And since your profile says you've been here since 2007, you should know that. It's just what PC is. It's right in the name: PokeCOMMUNITY. The site has a forum and a chatroom, which are what really make up a community. You can't talk to anyone on a main site, really. And since all those community sites correspond with PC, there really isn't anything needed to be said since PC teqnically has three main pages if you think about it.
     
    It would be used as a place where a user can find information in an organized fashion, instead of searching through thousands of threads for it.

    But eh, I give up, I just can't believe that none of you would even consider having an organized place for all the stuff. Like I said, it would just make you look more professional.

    (And besides, users would still be the ones creating the information for the site, thus still being user driven)
