I love myself a story time thread. Anything weird, strange, or unexplainable happen to you while playing Pokémon? I'll give an example with a story I love telling.

In my second year of high school I knew this one girl because she was part of a circle of friends I was in, and we happened to share 3 classes out of 4 in a semester. I always skipped my first period class so I'd show up in the morning to our second period Home Ec class. The class was divided into six groups and this girl and I decided to be together because we already knew each other and were in other classes. I ended up playing ORAS a lot in class and had ended up convincing her to buy Alpha Sapphire, and we'd play the games and talk to each other about it whenever we were done our work in class.

At one point she asks if I have Pokémon Bank because she wanted to bring her Pokémon over from Pearl and didn't want to have to buy a pass herself. I told her I could transfer whatever she wanted over to my Omega Ruby and trade them over to her, but I likely couldn't do it on school wifi and would have to bring her copy of Pearl back home for a night so I could use my own internet. She agreed and told me she wanted her entire first box transferred, so I came home and transferred her whole first box.

The next day, I'm not really able to get a chance to trade her Pokémon back to her until near the end of class, so I talk with her then and she's mad at me saying she only wanted her Luxray transferred. I'm confused but trade over her Luxray anyways, and we agree that I can keep the rest of the Pokémon I transferred over to use for Wonder Trading. She's still kinda mad at me, so I don't get much opportunity to talk to her for the rest of the class and decide to leave on my own for lunch which I typically did anyways. This also meant I didn't have an opportunity to return her copy of Pearl.

The specific details are a bit fuzzy from here but our 3rd period class was PE and since it meant putting away our belongings in the locker room, I'm not able to get the chance to return her game. I try to after the class, but she leaves quickly without saying a word to me and I'm not able. We still have our last class of the day together so I figure I can just talk to her and say I want to return something that's hers.

Our class starts, and she doesn't want to talk to me. I pull out her game from my bag and try to hand it to her, but she walks off without saying anything. I decided I'd just place it on her desk for when she returns to the classroom, but she returns, sits back down, and acts as if it's not even there. A mutual friend of ours asks why she's mad at me, and tries to return the game to her himself, but she won't take it from him either. Once class ends, I tried once again, and she walked out and went home without talking to me. I figure there's only a few weeks left in the semester, and I'm transferring schools afterwards, so if she approaches me and asks for it back, I'll gladly hand it back, otherwise she doesn't seem to want it anymore. She didn't speak to me for the rest of the semester, and I transferred schools wondering what I did wrong.

A couple years afterwards, I ended up running into the teacher for our 4th period class since we both frequented the same card store. The teacher tells me "my friend" was wondering why I left, and said she missed me, and I instantly knew that she was talking about this girl. I wonder what she's up to now, and if she even knows I still have her game...

The strangest story I have while playing Pokemon is that the school psychologist at the time (he moved on to work at another school or job) was able to get the wi-fi on my Switch, so I bought the Sword expansion pack IN SCHOOL with his help. That was last January. I wonder if he is doing okay. He was a HUGE Nintendo nerd.

I was playing Pokemon Vortex (browser based pokemon game) when an earthquake happened and violently shook our entire house.

My first and hopefully only earthquake experience. I never would have guessed it would be while I was playing Pokemon, but then again they do happen suddenly.

This is really wholesome... I love it. <3

i have a lot of stories but the first one that came to mind upon seeing this thread is when i battled my sister in RSE...hell, emerald might not have been out yet. so like my sister was Sure she would beat me for once bc i had recently restarted my copy of ruby and she had like a level 40 swampert. i had? maybe about half a team of pokemon in their mid-20's but i agreed bc she just has One good pokemon, everything else sucks. i had a shedinja on my team with like...hardly any good moves, it had only recently evolved. cue me slowly plugging away at her swampert while she cried and wailed that i was cheating bc she had no moves in her entire team to hit it. it was beautiful.

I had a copy of Diamond on this thing called a TTDS which is similar to an action replay. I didn't know it at first, but there were cheats I could use on the game. One of them was to make every wild encounter a shiny Pokémon. I turned this setting on and left it on for a long time. At some point, idk when, I noticed something weird happen- my starter Empoleon, which wasn't shiny, turned shiny. I have no idea how that happened. None of my other Pokémon became shiny, only my Empoleon.

And here's a little story... I was in 4th grade and it was board game day. I had a Pokémon board game (I think it's called Pokémon Master Trainer?) that I wanted to bring in that day, but I forgot it at home. Fortunately, my dad brought in the game later that day, and some of my classmates got excited. I remember proudly nodding my head, feeling super cool, like "Oh yeah." I had some people play the game with me. The next year I switched to a different school and we also had a board game day. I thought "oh, everyone loved when I brought the Pokémon board game, so I'll bring it again!" Literally no one except for my friend wanted to play. I also got mad at this one guy because he said he would play with us later, but he never did. (The board game isn't as fun with only 2 players as it is with 3 or more players.)
