Anyone else deal with the "only original pokes are good" people?

I really enjoy all the generations to various degrees but what gets me is my friends ALWAYS comment about how the originals are best and all the others are horrible, despite never giving them a chance. What really bugs me is I don't have to say anything, they'll like see me playing a newer gen and make such a comment like "All these new pokemon are ***, why do you still play it?" or "There are way too many pokemon" like what do they expect, Nintendo to just leave the originals in all the games and never add more? Just really bugs me.

That's simply the nostalgic fandom. And I do dislike these kind of people, simply because a majority of them are stubborn. I wish they could see that every generation had good Pokemon and bad Pokemon.

They just have their nostalgia goggles on. Even the first generation have "alright" pokemon like Grimer, Magnemite, Voltorb. It's not like every generation is just some generation packed full of stellar pokemon. There are hit and misses in every generation like the current one with the Trash bags. And the people you seems to describe don't seem to be the people that think the first generation or first two are the best but the ones that seem to don't have instead in the franchise any more and say "What are you a little kid why are you playing that still, don't know know Call of Duty and Halo are where it's at."

I used to dislike GEN IV and V but I played them and over time, you learn to like them, I like it better when theres more Pokemon anyway.

Generation I Pokemons are the BEST. You read it right, they are the best. I don't care what people say that Magnemite, Diglett, Voltorb, and Grimer. Satoshi Tajiri and his friends starve themselves for the sake of that generation and those un-creative pokemon. That's why I hold my respect high for Generation I pokemon, to honor the effort that Satoshi Tajiri and his company made. People should at least treat them with respect.

But, I'm not one of those blinded nostalgia goggle wearer. I still can see the goodness in newer generation pokemon. Generation 3 can become my most favorite, if Generation I doesn't have special place in my heart. Generation 3 pokemon represent most for pokemon world that I envision to. Their cry are unique. They have cries that all pokemon should have, a mix of pokemon and animal cries.

Well, I'm not going for bash newer generation when they come out. I should see the whole first before I can make any judgement on them.

The new generations aren't terrible but they aren't as good as the old gens.

I agree with all of you. Good and bad Pokémon in each generation. Volcarona is awesome, but Mr. Garbage Bag just makes me want to kill every one of them that ever existed! Garbodor has got to be the worst Pokémon ever! The bad part is that once a new Pokémon is introduced, there's no going back.

I used to hide my Poketaku-ness because of these people. Now I don't care.

I have a bit of nostalgia goggles on, but I'm not going to say that first gen pokes are the only original and good pokemon. Anyone that thinks that is hypocritical IMO.

Funny enough with some of your statements, I actually like Trubbish/Garbodor. :X
If only mine didn't decide to have that suck abilty "Weak Armor."

    Meh.

I like to see what the the world would be like if the Pokemon generations flipped around, having Gen V Pokemon come first and Gen I Pokemon come last.

"What happened to the old Pokemon?! They're not as cool looking and complex as the first generation!"

"Pikachu is just a rip off of Minccino!"

"I liked it when they got creative with thier Pokemon! I mean, the first generation had a Garbage Bag Pokemon! Why can't they be clever like that again?!"

    ....and so on.

Nostalgia does a lot to people, and it can be quite non-reasonable at times. Point being, people would complain and bash their precious first gen Pokemon if the generation V Pokemon came first.

And to answer the thread's title, no. They're annoying and troll-like.

But they have to understand each Generation has its up and down Pokemon, but it comes down to a matter of opinion. I mean, I like Stunfisk on the fact it looks so funny and it has neat typing. Some people hate Stunfisk cause it's so herpderp.

They might just have a big bias for the classic Pokemon. However with this new generation, you're going to have everyone who has a bias for the older generation Pokemon. I for one, had my nostalgia goggles on for a while, until I actually got used to seeing these new Pokemon over and over again. With each new generation it has its up and downs, but as Kiyoshi the Polar Bear said, it all comes down to opinion.

I'm never nostalgic when it comes to games. I mean, for Christ's sake, it's just a freaking game. Even if it was a part of your childhood, you should keep your nostalgic opinions to yourself. Unless someone asks you something like "what's the most nostalgic Pokemon game?!".

But really, I just leave them alone. As the trolls say, haters gonna hate.

It's true that Gen 1 has some of the coolest pokemon, but other gens have some kick ass ones to.

Those people just grew up on pokemon, it's what they've been watching from kidhood.

I saw this thread on Serebii

    Like I said...
You prefer the older generations? Good for you, just don't shove it down people's throats like nostalgia obsessed fanboys/fangirls.
I see them as nostalgia obsessed people who probably aren't even 'fans' of the franchise, much less being 'true' fans.
Either way, I ignore these kinds of people and move on.

Tbh I think the newer generations are even better than the older generations... Those that like old pokes more than the new ones probably started off playing the older generations so they think they have the best pokemon or something along those lines I guess? ='D

Gens one and 2 are the best in my opinion, while the other gens fell in terms of pokemon. But in terms of storyline, I would say that gen 5 is the best. While I do have a bit of bias, I have to admit that my favorite pokemon is from this generation(aka Scrafty). They get more and less developed over time, heck half of this gens Pokemon were created by five year olds looking around their house ("Oh look there's some Ice cream! *Scribbles on notebook* Oh look, our trash!"). But nostalgia is something to be left in the past, and each gen does improve in standards.

I grew up with the older pokemon games, so I'm used to them. It's not like I get nostalgic when I see them, it's just hard to see strange new designs you haven't gotten used to yet. When I started playing 5th gen I disliked almost every single pokemon, but I've learned to love some of them. There are still some pokemon I don't like but there's pokemon like that in every generation.

Well, when you grow up with Pokémon, and the very first games and series, and suddenly all these new gens come around, it takes time build some appreciation for them. It's not like I dislike all designs in gen 5, it's just that the other Pokémon have been around for such a long time (talking about first, second and third), that you really start to 'respect' them, and I just don't have that for the newer ones yet. It just needs a lot of time getting used to.

Hmm if you ask me which gen was the best, I'd say gen III. I used to hate gen IV, but I've grown to like the majority of them, it's just that I find the crapload of evolutions a bit over the top. Honestly, there was no need for Rhyperior, they'd be better off giving Rhyhorn a Baby form and Mantine an evolution.

Anyway, Every generation has had it's share of good and bad Pokemon.
