October Carter – Camp Kangaskhan

Placing the egg neatly into her backpack after handing the merchant the money, October thanked the man kindly before making her way through the congregation of tents. As she looked around, she could see that no other members that had journeyed with her on the boat had yet to make it. Inwardly she congratulated herself for getting such a head start against the rest of the losers who were probably still wondering what to do back at Beachcliffe. Not seeing much else to do, she found her way back to the dusty path that ran through the centre of the camp; following it beyond the last of the tents.

October was shocked to find a large tree had fallen over, blocking the path beyond. Regardless of this obstacle, she decided to try her luck picking her way through the branches and foliage that still clung to the tree. As soon as she started however, a couple of men say her and began shouting loudly.

"Oi, miss! We can't allow you to do that!" The first one, a stocky, middle aged man said as he grabbed her wrist.

"Let go of me, you creep! I can do what I want!" She aggressively stated, trying to wriggle her slender wrist from between his meaty fingers.

"I'm sorry miss, we can't let you do that. Come back later and we should have this tree cleared up." A younger, more muscular man said as he came in from behind the first man.

"It's only a tree, it's not going to hurt me." October was getting sassy now, angry that these guys thought they could stop her.

"Miss, please don't make our job harder than it already is!" The younger one pleaded with her, October couldn't help but woo at the sight of his pretty, blue eyes.

"Fine then," she agreed as the man let her hand go. Rubbing her wrist, she climbed down from her position and, placing her hands on her hips, "What is there to do in this little camp, then?" she spoke matter of factly.

"There is the gym leader, Byron Weis, you could challenge him; you look like the trainer type." The stocky man spoke as if he held this Byron guy with high regard.

"Or if you could check out The Appraiser, he's a man who is an expert on sols," the younger man pointed to the small bead around October's wrist.

"Would you mind escorting me to this, 'Appraiser'?" October asked in her sweetest voice, bending her knees a little and looking up at the guy with her eyes. This little act of hers was one she used a lot around guys; it worked perfectly almost every time and often got her places.

"Sure thing, miss. Follow me!" The young man was all too happy to help October, waving his hand at her to follow as he not only leader her back to camp, but also to the tent where the Appraiser lived. In the late afternoon sun, the red hues washed across this man's face making October's heart skip a beat. She thought back to the beautiful girl she had met whom had healed her Pokémon back at camp and felt a pang of regret. She just couldn't decide which way to swing.

Once they arrived at the tent, the young man bade her farewell and a wink as he left; October thanking him gratefully for his help. Taking a deep breath, she parted the hanging fabric of the man's 'door' and made her way into the tent. The sweet, sickly smell of incenses nearly made her gag as she entered, but out of courtesy she tried not to show it. The man's thin, drawn face looked as if he was malnourished; his pale white skin made October believe that this man could be a real life vampire.

"Could you tell me what this bead does, sir?" She asked the man politely, holding out her wrist with the bead attached.

Benjamin Whistler
Benjamin, torn between pressing on for the sake of adventure or staying to keep Yukari company. When asked the question, he exchanged looks between Yukari, Anise and his own journal. Of course though, Yukari, Anise and himself had been picked for a reason. Not sure of Anise or Yukari's reason, but his own was to document. And he wasn't going to get many interesting photos of the inside of a clinic than he was of the (somewhat) untouchable brushes of Apollo.

"I ap-apologise, Ms. Shimazaki, b-but I'll b-be c-continuing with Ms. B-briar." Benjamin gave the girl an apologetic smile.

"That's okay! I insist! I swear, I'll catch up with you guys later!"

"Well, Ms. B-briar, should we g-get g-going then?" Benjamin, his Krabby in his ball slipped back in his pocket and Elenore sitting comfortably on his shoulder, headed towards the door, looking back to Anise for her to lead the way.

October Carter
"Ooh!" the man turned around, greeting his guest as she entered the door. "Welcome! I am the Appraiser. But you can call me Hector." The man bowed, his eyes twinkling at the young woman. She was rather abrupt, not greeting Hector but he made sure he always showed his proper manners. "Your Sol? Yes, let me see it."

She handed him the bead and he took it with gentle hands, putting on his magnifying glasses and inspecting the bead. After he had had a good look, he pulled out a notebook, comparing images in his book with the bead. He smiled and handed back the bead.

"The history of this land is so rich, is it not? This bead is called a Sol of Tyche. The Sol of Tyche brings luck, but the kind of luck? That depends on what you combine this with! Find a Sol with a positive energy, and it will bring you good luck! And a Sol with negative energy, bad luck. This Sol has neutral energy, so it affected by the Sols it is linked with. Like all neutral Sols. Does that makes sense?

Anselme Gwenaël Ducreux
Route 1 > Camp Kangaskhan

The ball clicked, signaling that this little encounter was finally over. Giving a sigh of relief, Anselme put back the other pokeball he had prepared and removed the string that was left around his legs. Finally able to stand, he moved to pick up the ball containing his new catch and simply shoved it into his pocket. "Now that that's over…" Anselme took the one of the remaining cigarettes in the pack and put it into his mouth, lighting it. The other hand held his PokeDex which had begun to read out information on the pokemon he had just caught.

"Wurmple, the worm pokemon. It lives among the tall gra-"

"Dooon't really care," said Anselme, tapping on the device to skip the information. He instead moved back to the POKEMON screen to see the moves his new Wurmple knew. Chunky took it out pretty easily, so it probably didn't know anything good, but it didn't hurt to check. However, after skipping the information it provided him with a name prompt. He typed in Aadbeouboango without even paying attention to what he'd typed before pressing OK, just wanting to get to battle info already. It wasn't like the name he put in even mattered since he would still call it what he wanted. Nobody would arrest him if he didn't call it Gwobnfoaubf or whatever; that would be stupid.

The POKEMON screen revealed that his new addition was another girl with only 2 HP remaining. He found it interesting how it could apply numbers to health like that, but regardless he was right about the thing being half dead. Anyway, it only seemed to know Tackle and String Shot, both moves he already knew it had, so he just put the PokeDex away and continued walking, Chunky silently following close behind. The little block of ice seemed like it had forgotten it was just in a battle. Once Anselme realized it was following him again he simply told it, "Good job, little guy," before returning it to its ball.

The walk along Route 1 after that continued without incident, and soon enough his destination was in sight. It did nothing to deter his assumption that Beachcliffe is the only civilized place in the entire region. This place was nothing more than a bunch of tents and wagons bunched together. Well, he probably shouldn't have been expecting much anyway, but still. Normally he would have proceeded to bash the place in his mind, but right now he was tempted to worship the skies above for its presence. He was starving, tired, and his feet were sore not to mention that he had sadly smoked away the contents of his first pack of cigarettes out of five. He really should have brought more. Remind me to never go camping or hiking when I get back...

His joy at reaching the camp faded as he saw there was no pokemon center. He let out an audible groan and made his way to the biggest tent he saw instead. Looking at the size of the thing in a place like this meant it had to hold a lot of people, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to think it was a makeshift inn or something. He sped through the door-flaps in the hopes of finding respite, but one look at the inside told him that was not the case. This… is a gym. Without missing a beat he ran out of there. No way was he going to challenge an entire gym in his condition. Actually, no way he would challenge an entire gym at all.

Even more frustrated than before, Anselme walked to the first tent he saw in which he could see a woman with reddish brown hair was talking to a guy with a magnifying glass. It looked like he was examining her… what were they caled? Souls? He probably made up some BS about what they did to get people to buy more from the shops. When he reached the tent he stood beside the woman and waited for the guy to finish talking before cutting in. "Hey, is there an inn or someplace here where I can get some rest?" He took the Sol off his wrist. "And while you're at it, tell me what this thing does?" He was serious when he said the first part, but he grinned when he asked about his Sol as if he were telling a joke.

"Well, I guess this is bye Yukari."

With a firendly wave, Anise took Ben's lead and left the pokemon center: a wide grin could be seen on her face by passbyers as she walked out of the doorway. Once again, Miss Briar got her way. It didn't take long for Anise to call out her Rhyhorn to carry her for the trip to route one. After mounting the beast, she began to walk off, leaving Ben to follow.

"Route one should be this way."

After a few minutes of walking, Anise took advantage of the opportunity to start some conversation.

"Say Ben, why did you decide to go on this trip anyways? You don't' really seem like the type to go on a grand adventure for the sake of it."
