Dude, Frostweaver!

It must've been a long time then. Ever since I've been here, all the posts were short.

I know. Sometimes I do just post one sentences, but more often then not I like to post something semi-intelligible. Aaaand I think I just spelled that wrong.

Nice to see you here Frosty. I can't believe you're actually here though. What a change. You've left your beloved fanfic forum for a moment.

Quoting this so it can appear at the top of the next page o_o;

Since we have a DCC forum, it would behoove you all to look at the original (well, closest to original as we still have before the real original DCC was hard-deleted by hackers) to see the general level of quality of the posts in there. You'll barely recognize the thread as having the same general concept behind it as this one...
Ώ Ξ Ώ Ξ Ώ Ξ Ώ Ξ Ώ

So important that you needed to post it twice? Unfortunately, I did that exact same thing a page back. It annoys the heck out of me when I accidently do that.

Anyways, I remember the original DCC. I lost a lot of posts when that was deleted. There was like...mass chaos the day it got deleted.

Let's just say that when I was active in DCC, it was around the time right after the re-launch. So, I suppose that you can say that its' 2 years ago? XD; Dakota was still kicking around with "Boo Ya!" back then, which is a tragedy how he doesn't say it any more.

Oh everyone is double posting due to constant database error. I wonder why that happens though. It gets extremely annoying. Sometimes you wonder if the post went through or not, and you just go button smashing on the "post." It happens sometimes like that...

The Pokemon fanfic forum is never "mine." Rather, I migrate from places to places to either relive certain memories of the past, or I go to places according to where interesting people are.

It's like how at first I whip out 7 posts daily in strategy and games. Left that place when the person worth remembering there is gone (and quit the mod job there too because there's nothing worth safeguarding there anymore.) Then I move to fanfic because of people there. When those people are no longer worth remembering and are gone, then I move again.

Now I'm coming back to DCC for a short moment mainly because CK persuaded me to reclaim former DCC quality-glory.

Hmm, I haven't been to DCC for such a long time, but CK persuaded me to visit this old place once again.

Wonder what happened to the DCC now? If we just scroll back to the top of this page, there's maybe only 5 posts that is longer than one line/one sentence. Arcanine and sometimes Paul are the only ones who wrote a proper paragraph. Why is everyone sticking to one line posts now?

It means a lot more if the length of a post increases. *Most* of the time, if a post is longer, then the quality will usually increase too. It's insane how DCC can get maybe even 10 replies within the same minute... more length, less speed. ;p

*reliving the moments when DCC used to be filled with people who write at least 3 lines for a post, and more*
But then again, there are things that can only be expressed properly with a single line or sentence.

The relationship between quality and quantity can get quite confusing at times...

Argh, Paul, you double-posted! XD

Also, Dark Venusuar, stick to the topic at hand please =O

Stay on topic, Dark Venusaur.

Aragorn is right, the posts here are usually short, but can sometimes contain a nice bit of the topic (no idea how to word it, so deal with that).

Database error tends to split my one post into two; one that appears at the time before the error begins for me and one that appears after it ends. Posts can appear in between because the database errors tend to last longer for me because of slow connection.

I didn't participate much in the original DCC; I think I first made myself known on PC by discussing Super Smash Bros. Melee in there, but that's about my only memory. If one thing has remained cosntant in all of the DCCs, it's that a certain few members monopolize activity in it, and it's incredibly hard to become one of those people.

True, also this forum lends itself to short, quick conversations.

"For the chitty-chatty members, all your blabber, chitty-chatty, fluff-eating threads, for your talk… well it's all here!"

The first DCC convo I can remember was with CFG about cake o.o In all truth, I don't think I really fit in with the old DCC crew. Or maybe it was because I was a newbie...

I wasn't even here for the original DCC, so I wouldn't know, really.

The monopoly over the DCC tends to change often. When I first joined in June '05, Eliana, Aleksandra, Alistair, and a few others were the ones who ruled the DCC. Then came Simon and the rest of the DCC Mafia (including myself), then Matt took over in a bloody coup. Now? We've got Ryan, aragornbird, Emma, and John.

The DCC reputation and speed follows with the upcoming regulars, I guess....but alas, I don't think there is much we can do to help it x.x

Which is, the exact reason why CK and I can't help but to wonder what went wrong in between. Back then, DCC is equally shifty in topic. Sometimes we move from what topic to another, and this will occur at least a couple times per day. Yet, to the topic at hand, people still contribute as much as they can, adding quality to the discussion.

Yes there is sometimes a need for one sentence posts. Yet, it is like writing a book. Is the dramatic effect still there if you use incomplete, short phrases on a consistent basis? No, the effect is loss and it will be considered as a grammatical error then. One sentence post is to-the-point, and is strikingly powerful in tone, or at least in theory, it should be.

On the other hand, we get stuff like "how are you doing <member>? Welcome back!" as one post, then the next one is "oh I am fine ty. And you?" Why, even in simple asking for well beings can be given quality by adding details. "Oh I am fine thank you. I went to do <whatever you were doing> but then ended up <whatever actually happened.> Does anyone have any similar experience?" You know, everything can always be expanded a bit so there's more room and possible topics for other members to join in to participate.

You think there are positive connotations in the staff description of the DCC forum you posted? It sounds rather grudging if you ask me >P

Florin was probably the most random person ever to be a DCC regular...his topics swung from the most enjoyable to some of the most disturbing and inappropriate...the latter type eventually won out with him and once he became part of that cryptobestiality cult at PC I never felt the need to interact with him in the DCC no matter what subject he was addressing <_<;

I felt the exact same way. I felt like I was an idiot for joining all the more popular people in their convorsations. At first I was like, "What am I doing here? I'm a noob!"

That is why new-mod Kura has written new rules forbidding posts like "hello" and "goobye" posts unless they also discuss something concerning the current topic. And she's done a good job at enforcing them too.

It does. It basically sounds like "Welcome to the DCC. You must be really bored so just talk about stuff here. Whatever."

Although you can't deny that none of us here aren't bored in some way.
