Are Pokemon Games Funny?

What do you think? Do the Pokemon developers have a good sense of humor? I'd have to say so. Want to know why?

I honestly believe that Game Freak tried to make this thing look hideous. Just look at its animation.

I also think they localization team has a good sense of humor too. Why else would they have the characters use internet slang in the games?

I only found Generation V humorous. Generations 1-4 were serious and people spoke cold language.

Gen IV was translated by a Goon. That is all.

Some things are dramatic and serious, like...

"You said you have dreams. Make them come true."

And others oh-my-god funny like!

"Bad! Badbadbadbadbad for Team Plasma! Or Plasbad for short!"

Funniest was Generation 5.

Earl and Shard de Berry guys in HGSS were absolutely hilarious. Also, the meme "a winner is you" was twice referenced in these games, which is fantastic. Ah, and I also got strong homosexual vibes from the dress-up guy in Goldenrod Tunnel, which was pretty comical, and Silver's "Why so serious?" line after beating him in Goldenrod Underground also proved chuckle-worthy. I often found the Gym Leaders' conversations via phone or in-person great, such as Erika's comments on the way Claire dresses. There are many, many parts in Pokemon that are funny--not side-splitting, but funny nonetheless.

I find the games to be regular, the games main purpose isn't suppose to be funny. But what I do find funny is when my Pokemon's moves always miss or I'm just unlucky when it comes to capturing Pokemon

Well, I always laugh when a Youngster discusses shorts. Platinum was one of the more funny Pokemon games. Team Galactic nerds saying things like "I got owned" and "Cosmic Energy For The Win!!!" always made me laugh. Also, I think the "Make sure the bed is unoccupied before getting into it" was funny. And, that ace trainer in Canalave that called you a noob. That was funny too.

I think they're okay. I mean, I don't get completely bored reading what every NPC says (since I'm the kind of person that has to go talk to everyone regardless of how interesting they are). But I also never laugh while playing it unless it's something I did (ie, giving someone/something a dumb name). I might smile at something silly once in a while but unless I'm projecting my own additions, I don't find anything that amusing.

By projecting, I mean like when I was playing Black in Japanese with my roommate over my shoulder. Your room gets all messed up because of the Pokémon battle and I, being far too lazy to seriously translate, just decided that if my in-game mom actually found out about the mess, she'd kill me which is why I had to go on the journey. So later, when she phoned me up I was like "OH GOD SHE PHONED ME I'M ABOUT TO GET IN TROUBLE" and then she walks up right behind you and we both died laughing. It... sounds dumb when I say it here but it was seriously funny! :( I bet I'm leaving out details.

I forgot what made me laugh, but I remember something in the 4th gen games made me break out laughing.
And yes, platinum was quite interesting :D

As long as Probopass and Stunfisk exist, then yes, Pokemon is hilarious.

I think they're somewhat witty, although it's a shame that the main translator from D/P was fired, he was responsible for most of the gems like "Incidentally", the trainer that calls the player a 'noob' and many others. So yes, there is a sprinkle of humor in the games, and I hope that said sprinkle will continue to appear in Pokemon Games.

The old man outside the Celadon Gym in FR/LG made me laugh. I also find anything that the Gen IV rival said involving fines funny.

Pokemon games aren't really meant to be funny, but yeah.. some lines do get a chuckle or two out of me. The developers add a few funny lines in to make the games a little more interesting, and yes.. I do think that they have a nice sense of humor. I can't really list any examples still vividly present in memory, but yeah.

Well, on some occasions, they try to make it somewhat funny, but I think there are some serious yet enjoyable moments in the game. I think the correct word would be witty.

They aren't laugh out loud hilarious, but I do have fond memories of an occasional chuckle at a surprisingly subtle wit of the writers.
