Let me give you an example of what I mean. Everyone remembers Charmander and Charizard, but how many people remember the guy in between? I don't think the second evolutions of the starters, such as Ivysaur, Chameleon, and Wartortle are as popular as the first and third evolutions. Do you think the starters' second evolutions are neglected?

I see your point in this and yeah I have to agree with you on this one...to an extent...the middle evo's in starters are a bit neglected...

I thik its definitely true n the first generation. This is most likely due to the anime, seeing as bulbasaur and squirtle never evolved, while charmeleon had a grand total of three episodes

In Johto, this was just the same, though Bayleef got quite a bit of screen time, Croconaw was only seen in the intro to Pokemon 4ever and Quilava appeared in one episode, I think.

When we got to Hoenn, things improved a bit. With all three starters evolving at leat once, we got to see plenty of Grovyle, Combusken and Marshtomp. Plus, these threee were all kick-ass characters who got some episodes devoted to them, meaning they got more publicity.

So far in Sinnoh, things are looking good for 2nd stage starters. Moferno is looking like a distinct possibility, and Kenny as a recurring rival has his Prinplup. Plus, we've got Grotle too.

That is true, the Sinnoh series does seem to be bringing ife to second stage evos to the starters...

I would have to say, the second gen starters evo is the most neglected out of all of them. I think when ash goes to the Sinnoh Frontier he should take Totodile out to evolve him. Along with the Monferno that I doubt while evolve all the way to Infernape before the Frontier. Hopefully he will get Bulba there as well.

R U SERIUS?! XD Quilava's one of my favourite Pokemon, and Bayleef also! But, if i really think about it, you're probably right. It might be because of this:

When your starter is first stage, you feel like on a beginner, starting a brand new journey.

When your starter has evolved to it's next form, you feel in the middle, not an expert, but not a beginner.

Then when your starter is last stage, you feel a sense of accomplishment, and feel like you can take on the Pokemon league.

Now, whivh would you remember most? That's right, end and beginning. Because these times, you have way more of a sense of accomplishment than the middle.

So peole may think 'Nah, i dont have much memories of when my starter was in second stage'

I have to agree, to an extent :\. For example, I remembered Turtwig and Torterra however I had to think a bit to remember Grotle but I could remember Chimchar and Monferno but I had to think (Not as long as Grotle though) to remember Infernape. Anyway, most people think of it this way: the first evolutions are the cutest, the last evolutions are the strongest. E.g: some may say Totodile :3 is cuter than Feraligatr :D but not as strong (obviously.) The middle evolutions are just one of those things in pokemon which are forgotten easily...:\

I usually like the middle stages the best. :P

I wanted to disagree, seeing as Quilava is one of my favorite Pokemon, but then I attempted to remember Gen. III's middle starters.
    Didn't go too well. :<

    I totally agree.
The first stages are more popular 'cause they are the first ones in every game. And the last stages are also popular 'cause often some character in the anime has them and also are very powerful.

But I think second stages are often neglected, and I don't see why, because I think they're usually prettier than the next stage (Bayleef, Marshtomp, Prinplup, Charmeleon). And also, some of them learn unique moves only if they're not involved. I think I saw it with Marshtomp may be...

    Anyway, I'm with you :)

    I agree to an extent.

I honestly can't remember the 2nd and 3rd generations "middle" starters. Well, I remember some of them... but not all of them. I think the anime has something to do with it. I always like the middle Pokemon. Even if I don't like them. Doesn't make sense? Why, yes it does if you think about it! Without the middle Pokemon, you wouldn't have the third.

Without Charmeleon... you wouldn't get a Charizard! Without Wartortle... you wouldn't get a Blastoise!!! D'ur. xD

Well, this is a first :D

Yeah alot of people [like me] Just worry about having the cute little pokemon or getting to it's last evolution as fast as possible not alot of people want to keep the middle evo >.<

The middle evo isn't cute.. but is half strong. So thats why most people don't like using them that much? My favourite middle evo is Wartortle. Not exactly a cute Pokémon.. But I guess I could say that Wartortle is a cool Pokémon.
