I think the kicker here is that people who think homosexuality is a sin are locked in the dark ages, perhaps blinded by old-fashioned Papist claptrap spawned from the days when the Catholic church tried to be an autocracy, or else clinging to values of an old form of society that was prejudiced and fundamentally misguided in regards to moral issues.
I'm a religious man, I believe in God wholly. I even read the Bible - however, I cannot say I take it literally in all instances.
The Bible was written by man, after all.
I was just discussing this issue with a friend who said that people use the Bible as a shield for their personal prejudices - and that in some cases is absolutely right. Akio123 is wise.
But the most important part of the Bible for me is that Jesus teaches us to love and value all human beings, does he not? Expressing prejudices against anybody, be it against homosexuals, those of different race, gender, class, creed etc if you ask me is the real sin.
To me, marriage should be the union of two souls who are in love. Homosexuals can love just like any heterosexual can. The feeling of love is the same in principle, regardless of whether such a bond is formed between two people of different sex or the same. It doesn't matter. Homosexuals are people just like heterosexuals are people.
To oppress someone's right to confirm their love is unforgiveable.
Whether you're religious or not, I think it's clear to see that in this day and age, we must strive for equality with our fellow humans.
In conclusion, I am for gay marriage.
