Mater or Moron. LOL. Well, I gotta go with ~E_M_Y~. Good courage, but impatient. He got so many chances(whether it be PKMN or girls :) ) Id say both also

How anyone can call that face a moron, I'll never know. You evil people!

I know, right? ^_^ He's just a kid who's trying to be that best he can be. And so is everybody else.

Of course Ash is an idiot. Why else would he need to use his Pokedex on every single Pokemon he encounters, even ones he has already seen before?

Ash,

Pokemon

MASTER
in my opinion

People are taking Pokemon to seriously
The Anime isnt a video game
Ash's personallity is very caring
and has much love for pokemon
in my opinion i think of pokeballs
as cages. i dont catch a pokemon unless
i was absolutly needed to.
and if somone calls him stupid for not
catching a weak Zapdos
then consider this
He cared for the zapdos and wanted it to heal
and live on
not be trapped in a pokeball for the rest of its life
being a pokemon master isnt about catching every
pokemon in the world
its about your love for pokemon

"Dur, what's a Butterfree? I've never seen one before, let alone owned one, so I better check :B"

Like that? Yeah, it's pretty stupid >.<;

He's even used the Pokedex on various Pikachu a few times XD

In his defence that's mainly done for the benefit of the new viewers of the show.

I don't think he's an idiot at all. It's all too easy to say that he's an idiot for releasing some of his best Pokemon especially considering the fact that the show is not real and many of us haven't been in the same situations as him. The fact of the matter is that all of the Pokemon he's had to let go (with the possible exception of Primeape) have been the morally right thing to do. I think it shows a certain strength of character that he's able to do the right thing even if it's at an overall cost to him.

He's got some great battle techniques and great improvisational skills. He often comes up with great moves to defeat the opponent midway through battle. I mean you don't win the Orange Island trophy, The Battle Frontier and come top 8 in Hoean and Johto by being a moron. Considering the fact that he's still technically a kid I think that's a terrific achievement.

Pikachu has only been dex'd by Dawn and Ash at the beginning of their journies. Second of all, the purpose of checking the dex is because there is always new information about the pokémon. So that is nothing moronic.

He's most definitly NOT a moron! IT's mean how you say that...if you don't like him than why watch the episodes? IT's all about his journey and his friends!

People, you all have to remember Ash is a 10/11/12 year old boy.
Ofcourse he'll make mistake. He is not a super genuis child.
Have you ever meet a kid, who doesn't make stupid mistake?
This isn't like a videogame. Where if you make mistake, you can just turn off your game.

Ahs is not idiot. He doesn't choose the advantage types or their weak points because he wants to test his skills. He doesn't catch every single pokemon because the ones he has he wants them to be the best they can be, and with every single pokemon he met that would be way to many pokemon. Ash is a great trainer and at the end of Pokemon. I bet he would kick your butt.

Legend of Thunder was horrible, no matter what language. Plus, if you're going to watch any kind of sub, have it done by the company that dubs the show or by a fluent translator. Not a fan. Oh, before I forget, give me proof that he's still 10.

Really? Have you watched it in Japanese with subs? I watched the dub first and found it boring and cheesy ("you rock...you rule!" wtf? one of 4Kids worst dub of Pokemon) but it's so much better in Japanese. It's really very odd how the music can make it so much more interesting. Plus, the opening is so much better than the cheesy GS Pokerap.

Yes, yes I have. I shouldn't have said it was horrible though. Just not appealing to me... but I'll say horrible anyway. XD

Is Ash a moron? No, I just think he's a bit dense (And yes, there's a difference)

To -Umbreon, right on, I completely agree. Ash has a very strong sense of moral, something people in the real world are lucky to have. He released his Pidgeot because it needed to stay and protect the Pidgeys from Fearow and his minions, becuase he knew that it was best. He let his stronger Pokemon go because he had to, not necessarily because he wanted to. He pits Pokemon that are weak against certain types to help them grow and gain a resistance to those types and grow strong against them.

I envy Ash. He has this amazing bond with his Pokemon, and he's able to train them far more than we ever could in the games. He doens't btoher capturing legendaries because they shouldn't be captured. Without them, his world would lose balance.

No, I don't think Ash is a Master, but he's not an idiot. Like someone said before me, you have to be smart to make it to the Hoen and Johto top ten.

The only truly stupid thing about him? He hasn't taught Pikachu Return yet! Can you imagine the super-pwnage? xDD

Ash Ketchum: Moron.

He seems like he doesn't now what the advantages are, but you have to realize that he is still 10 years old (Shouldn't he be atleast 12 or 13?).

Then why call him a moron?
For that reason? You just said it he like 10 or 12 years old.
Ofcourse he make mistake and just like *lanee said, He used the

"pokemon's the are weak against certain types to help them grow and gain a resistance to those types and grow strong against them."

For example, Swellow and Pikachu, look how Ash train swellow to resist Pikachu's Thunder.

Ash lost the little respect i had for him as a Pokemon trainer when he left his Charizard in Johto, i mean WTH, Charizard is the strongest Pokemon he has, and even when he got it back twice, both times he let it go back, the same goes for his Squirtle (although he left him for the right reasons) they where by far some of the stongest Pokemon Ash has EVER had and will ever have and he just walked away from them, if he was any good a Pokemon trainer he would keep the good Pokemon he gets and release the week ones not the other way around.

See, this the post, that separates Ash from the Videogames.
The anime is not like the Videogames. Any pokemon can be strong if you train them.
There's no damn EV's or IV's. It's all about how you work with your pokemon. In the videogames, If you don't like the pokemon release them. It doesn't work like that for Ash. He cares about them and he TRAINS them. Do you see anyone in the D/P with an unevolved squirtle? I don't think so.
You can't based everything on the Videogames.
There's a differences.

As much as I actually like Ash, He is a moron. He just doesn't learn. But if he did, we wouldn't have a show, now would we?
