That said, they didn't bring Pidgeot back, unfortunately (they ruined a perfect opportunity for a reunion in Battle Frontier).

661? Is that Unova? In that case, we definitely know he at least uses Charizard. Other than that, the only other time after Battle Frontier where he used any of his old Pokémon are his Johto starters.

As far as his old friends, if Tracey happens to be present when Ash calls Professor Oak, he'll probably appear. Brock may or may not reappear (the G.E.M. series figurine of him that will be released in October does suggest that, at the very least, the door is open to a reappearance). The G.E.M. series having just released a figure of her as well as the choice of geography for Alola and it nearly being the 20th Anniversary next year would probably suggest Misty will indeed be coming back most likely. As far as Dawn, unless they shoehorn Pokémon Contests, that's going to be highly unlikely (though that being said, she DOES reappear in Best Wishes despite it having absolutely nothing to do with Pokémon Contests), and May and Max, other than in DP, it's unlikely for several reasons: 1. There's most likely not going to be any contests in the current regions. 2. Ash is going to stay 10 years old perpetually (which was made explicit in BW and implied with the eyecatchers for both AG and DP), meaning that Max, being underage, is obviously not going to be making any reappearances. And 3. Due to KAORI, May's Japanese voice actress, pulling a Hillary Duff and quitting voice acting to be a pop idol, it's extremely unlikely May will return (heck, unlike the other characters, who got at least ONE Hoso after their departure, May and Max are the only ones to not even get one after their departure). Barry only has a chance at returning if they do a DP remake, and even THERE, it's a tiny chance at best. And I'm not sure about Paul returning. They buried the hatchet anyways.
