Baby pokemon were introduced in this gen! They kept making some more for gen 3 and 4. I always felt like baby pokemon were a bit redundant ._. They're just one extra bothersome gap to fill in your pokedex through obscure breeding items.

Do you feel like babies were a good add? Could they have had some different role, and been more interesting?

I thought the gen 2 ones were seriously cute. Felt the same about the few in Gen 3 too. Was a lot less loving of the Gen 4 ones.

I kinda liked the idea of having to breed to complete the dex, added another level of adventure

The best part about the babies was getting a chance to get a shiny. Not many people knew about it back then (nor did I realise it was special when I got one) but it made it worth getting a baby Pokémon. In general though they're adorable and there's a level of cuteness that isn't really reflected in any other generation (except Azurill).

I guess it made sense, being the generation that introduced breeding.

And yes they are very cute, but pokemon can be cute without being babykind too! In a way I guess I'm a little sad they stopped making them, because there are some mons that would indeed have utterly cute baby versions (:

    Like this lil dude!!

I dunno, they were a really fun novelty as a kid :-)

I'd want baby versions of Pokemon whose basic stages are too good to be put in earlygame, for more earlygame variety. They didn't really do that in Gen 2 (as none of them were available in the wild), but getting the increased shiny chances on an Odd Egg in Crystal was great, and if you didn't get stuck with a Cleffa or Igglybuff, it yielded a great Pokemon that you could immediately try to incorporate on your team. Tyrogue probably being the best. Shiny Hitmonlee with Hi Jump Kick was boss.
