Tetsuya Nomura hasn't really done anything right since 2007, though...well, I suppose it depends on how bad FFXV is and how the VII remake turns out, but even so, between those potentially less disastrous titles and 2007...nothing of his really sticks out as exemplary when compared to his earlier works. I suppose it could be worse, though - at least he's not Motomu Toriyama. That man should never be allowed near a video game again, period.

I forgot - for his work on Drakengard and NieR, I'm quite fond of Taro Yoko. Eiji Aonuma has never overly offended me either. Well, nothing I couldn't get past. If I just pretend Skyward Sword and Triforce Heroes never happened, I like Aonuma quite a bit.

It's difficult to credit the majority of the game to a single person much of the time, considering these things are team efforts.

Also, is it bad I really want an iPhone 6s right now? I've resisted getting a smartphone for ages but my iPod Touch is now too small to hold all my music and Tesco Mobile have a good deal on for one...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

...ugh, American date format. For a minute I thought that was out now. xD

Is Modern Warfare generally regarded as one of the better CoD titles, then? I've not played a CoD title for YEARS, the last one I played was set in WW2, so I have no clue how these things are generally regarded by the fans.

Multiplayerwise, CoD4 is regarded as the best by many of the fans because of the maps. Many of the maps allowed diverse playstyles and active participation through either tactical sniping or run & gun, while fighting for some of those sweet killzones to build up that killstreak even more. Some of the maps were designed so well to fit with a particular loadout such as maps that were clearly designed to favor sniping or assault rifle usage with mostly firefights happening in wide open areas (Countdown), or maps that favored either sniping or SMG guys who could close in against the snipers (Bloc). Either way, the maps were well designed in a way that any style and loadout can work as long as one got the skillz to do so. Also, the air support bonuses for scoring kill streaks were done right compared to the later games.

The later games in the Modern Warfare phase, with Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer in particular kinda screwed it up with broken and/or overpowered air support, shotgun secondaries (ehem Extended Mags AA-12 secondary which i am so openly guilty of abusing), air support (once again mentioning this) that could either destroy an entire team or be destroyed in less than a few milliseconds, and what not. The maps in MW2 were okay, but they were not as well crafted as those from MW1 aka CoD4. None of the magic that was from CoD4 carried over from the later games. Which is why up to this day, Modern Warfare 1 or CoD4 is still sought after by many players who got tired of all of the bull-crap in the later titles.

So yeah... Its really in the multiplayer. Otherwise, the CoD Campaigns in the games aren't any fantastic for those looking for something that hits the pants (or skirts) right in the single player department. World at War was sorta okay in the campaign department, and it had Nazi Zombies, a great alternative from the core game, which is continued in Treyarch's Black Ops series.

Ohh...well, I'd be buying it for the single-player campaign, since I don't have PS+ and I'm not huge on multiplayer anyway. Come to think of it, that shift to multiplayer gameplay is probably what put me off CoD - as well as a lot of other FPS titles - in the first place. I just don't care for PvP unless I'm playing someone I know that I can scream and/or gloat at. xD

It's interesting, though...I mean, if it's the maps that make it popular, why didn't they just incorporate that into later titles? I would have thought it'd make sense to build on things, rather than swap them out. But then, I've been saying that about Pokemon for years as well.

Nah, but see, there's a point to it. CoD's fanbase, at the time and until they stopped with the annual releases, was pretty much guaranteed and growing. While there weren't a lot of new mechanics introduced between games (until the latest two), not including maps from one basically allowed fans that joined later in the series to jump into the older titles. Well, allowed or forced- I'd say it's kind of a mix. So, from a business perspective, it worked out pretty great and it even made having shitty maps in their newer entries less of a con/risk as there wasn't much of a potential for lost sales and it just made the older, better maps shine so much more.

But as someone who played Modern Warfare's story mode exclusively, it's not bad. It's not the longest story, but it tries different things and mission formats, and really should be remembered for having one of the better story modes in the series for its actual gameplay. And length.

Doesn't the multiplayer of the previous CoD title all but die out as soon as the next one is released, though? That was the impression I had...but then I don't play the games, haha. It's always been the thing that it's time to abandon ship on the multiplayer online when the next title comes out for other games though, that was always one of the reasons I DESPISED multiplayer trophies, because getting them for older games was damn near impossible. But then, CoD does have a ridiculously large fandom, so I suppose normal rules may not apply.

November 4th is a loooong way off, though...and 3 days before my birthday. If I were big on AAA titles I'd be ecstatic because they always release around my birthday. As it is, I'm just mildly curious. PS+ or no, if the campaign is worth it maybe I should give the series another try after a decade (at least) of pointedly ignoring it. Maybe. Chances are I'll forget all about this game by the end of the week and it won't even occur to me to consider getting it when it gets released. Price notwithstanding.

Also, new weapons, weapon attachments, and perks affect multiplayer map design. if CoD4's maps were simply cut and pasted into the later games, a lot of people will be dying to all of the overpowered messes that I mentioned earlier, such as the air support bonuses that have little counterplay (ehem Predator Missiles, Chopper Gunners D:), shotgun secondaries, the Commando perk (makes your knife attack have a MUCH FURTHER HIT CONFIRM RANGE) and new weapon attachments with the later games allowing MULTIPLE attachments. MW2 while it was a broken mess of a multiplayer, at least most of the maps catered to its horrible multiplayer choices. Mostly.

Then again, I don't get why people love Nuketown so much that the said map even made it to Black Ops 3. please enlighten me D: Nuketown is like the de_dust of counter strike. PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS VOTE FOR IT!

Ya know, if people are looking for a First person shooter that's simply over the top ridiculous with the weaponry, I highly recommend RUSSIAN OVERKILL, a doom mod where every weapon is intentionally overpowered. Its like, ever imagined playing Doom, or any First Person shooter and wished that every gun in the game was a BFG? That's Russian overkill for you ladies.

Nuketown was a disaster in the original, decent in II, and terrible again in III.

As for COD4 being remastered, I'm really excited. That campaign was so good, I won't care if they don't include the multiplayer.

I wouldn't mind the CoD4 Remaster not having its multiplayer component seeing that the Original one is still alive and kicking, though for us PC players, it would take a little bit more effort to find those delicious dedicated servers.

Speaking of CoD, i wish the next one in the series, come few years time, would star any 80s-90s action movie as the main protagonist, like here:

(i made it, years ago)

I mean who would not want to play as Sylvester Stallone in a CoD game, or any game? And I don't mind if they still set it in the Advanced Warfare/Sci-Fi setting as of AW and BOPS3. As long as Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger (AHNULD) is there to talk smack against the future, tell all millenials that they aren't man enough, shoot guns and hipfire like Steady Aim Pros, I'd play it. Both for SP and MP.

Then again there's Broforce.

It's full of hackers though. You put it on the PS4/XBOX One, and it will be a hack-free game.

So apparently today Xenoblade Chronicles is finally going to be on the Wii U Virtual Console in NA. Perhaps I should have waited for this... but I've been enjoying the New Nintendo 3DS port nonetheless. It's a shame Nintendo never utilized the New Nintendo 3DS more aside from porting Xenoblade Chronicles and some SNES games.

I'm actually quite saddened at it. Like ooooh new Nintendo 3DS, its a Nintendo 3DS with MOAR POWER, but there's not just enough games for me to actually like tell me to get one, RIGHT NOW. At least the thing is said to run Hyrule Warriors Legends way better than a regular 3DS.

Also I'm not sold on the whole SNES porting thing since everyone can easily play SNES games via emulation (SNES9x baby) unless one is a pure console purist who hates emulation and see's it as a cancer associated with PC gaming.

Then again, its a good thing that the 3DS is backward compable of NDS games. I remember playing Pokemon White 2 on my thing and its one of my more favored purchases ever. Its a shame though that most of the gen 5 services are long gone, and i remember buying my copy of Pokemon White 2 and it was just as pricey as a Gen 6 game.

And the weird thing though, the store i usually buy my games now have copies of Pokemon Black and White 1. LIKE WUUTTTT!? okay... good thing i played Black 1 via emulation though.

Spoiler:

ACTUALLY SCREW EVERYTHING I SAID! WHY? BECAUSE MY BODY IS READY!!!!!

Oh god, I am so so ready. Most of you people may not know how much hype I'm pumping out. I've already drank 3 gallons of gravy and barbeque sauce just to calm my cocktails. I'll leave my more constructive feedback on a later time but... yeah now i need to learn how to make those nice looking first posts that people use on discussion threads. The lack of real support for the N3DS is frustrating, but it makes a certain sort of sense...splitting the userbase would be far worse for Nintendo from a commercial standpoint, after all. We're already more or less forced to upgrade consoles with each generation as is, being forced to upgrade to a newer version of the same handheld just to play new games would be intolerable...whch is why all it has is ports of existing titles.

I'm still hoping for GBA emulation on N3DS in the near future, though. It's do-able on the 3DS, and handheld titles belong on handheld systems. It's a complete waste putting them on the Wii U eShop and not the 3DS one, and Nintendo have pretty much given up on the system anyway. The 3DS, however, is still going strong.

So Lord Gaben offers a 70% OFF on Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 in order to balance out the ridiculous amounts of blood, ultraviolence, and supermurder that I play everyday. GABEN PLZ! Good thing I've already planned out on building my new PC by May. The best i can do now is to just buy the thing IMMEDIATELY before steam Ninja-removes the sale so that I can install it at a later time, just in time for DOOM 4 to arrive.

Before i go to bed and hopefully not wake up with another backpain, i think i need to get my back checked. Can't end up being a crippled murderking. That's not how its done. Random thoughts before i go to bed:

Quad Barrelled Shotgun... you already know how much this makes me happy.

[PokeCommunity.com] Back to the Grind(stone)

QUAD QUAD BARRELLED SHOTGUNS!? SIXTEENTUPLE!? SIXTEEN BARRELS.

Also, the girl from Genei Obunoku whatever the frick i should call it now... Tsubasa Oribe.. glad to know more things.

If you haven't played Neptunia Re;Birth 1 yet, now is evidently the time. If I weren't so staunchly anti PC, I'd consider picking it up myself...although I want a physical Vita copy first, actually. I would have imported it, but I was too impatient so I wound up getting it off the EU PSN on release day.

Stranger of Sword City and Yokai Watch tomorrow! I wonder if I'll get around to either of them within the next couple of months...

Nah, the deal isn't particularly great, anyway. Re;birth 1's been known to go down to around $3. Same with 2. Probably 3, come the Fall sale.

OK, next time they go that low, I'm buying them. PC-averse or no, one does not say no to prices like that...especially not when you convert those prices into £, ahaha.

In other news, I might pick up Tales from the Borderlands on PS4 tomorrow before I go and see Civil War...depends on how much of a mark-up the store has on it from the online price. And whether or not I cave and buy Ratchet and Clank. With Bloodborne out of the way - and fuck Gehrman, seriously - I find myself ready for another PS4 game, although it might be time to dust off (literally) SAO: Lost Song...

Oh, please do play Tales from the Borderlands, it's fantastic. Probably Telltale's best, and considering I hold their TWD games in pretty high esteem, is saying quite a bit. Even if you're not into Borderlands (which I'm...not, really), it's fun as hell.

As a N3DS owner, and someone who's been emulating SNES on his handhelds since back when the Supercard DSTWO was released, I can safely say that the appeal of SNES emulation is pretty different from that of emulating on PC- even completely unrelated. We've been able to successfully emulate SNES games at full speed for literal decades, but the history of full-speed, quality fidelity handheld SNES play is...fairly recent. This is the first time that we've really had a SNES games just running perfectly on a handheld (and without sacrificing quality for screen space), and since a lot of SNES games just fit perfectly on the smaller screen, it's kind of a dream come true in a lot of ways. I've been wanting to carry around Secret of Mana for years now- and to have it installed on my device without the need for a 3rd part emulator? Mmm, the thought's so good.

The problem comes with the fact that this is a much bigger benefit for people who've hacked their devices and can take advantage of injecting any title they want into a .cia and installing it to their 3DS than it is for the average consumer. Largely due to the slow rate that Nintendo rolls out titles. Which they really need to work on, because...it's honestly a snap to make any SNES game a sellable, installable title.

Kinda the same case with this, since GBA injection's been a thing for at least a year. Granted, the emulation options are far more limited, they still run at 100%. There's really no reason that they can't just spruce up the ambassador GBA games' emulator and then sell the games, other than maybe because it's an ace up their sleeve. But they could use the boost.

I'm also curious to see if they could continue this trend of repackaging NDS games as DSi titles, as they did with Warioware Touched. It might be too much too soon to double down on this to them, but the Vita pretty much already has the equivalent facilities, and it'd do wonders for how the consumer sees Nintendo as a digital games provider and their overall understanding of their fans interests.
