Badges and their Effects on Stats

    I was watching an LP of someone playing FireRed and I noticed something Blaine said.

    "The VOLCANOBADGE heightens the SPECIAL stats of your POKeMON."

    Now that I think about it, Gym leaders from every single region in every game as far as I remember have said something similar. I know the formulae for calculating stats don't include the any properties of badges but does anyone know what the the stat increases mean?
     
    I think they just have them say that for the hell of it.
     
    The stat increases due to badges are for in-battle only (like the effect of Growl or Huge Power). They don't provide a permanent increase to Pokémon stats.

    The increase is 10% (i.e. multiply the stat by 1.1 during calculations).
     
    All this time, I thought it was just mumbo jumbo, because I've never noticed much of a difference.

    Do you have a source? How do you know about this exactly?
     
    Bleh I didnt pay attention to that part of the Gym Leaders losing speech. But I do pay attention on up to what level your Pokemon should obey you. That much I know is true :D
     
    I believed the Gym Leaders when they said that the badges increase your Pokemon's stats, but never noticed in-battle to care.
