I saw a thread like this on Serebii and I wanted to bring it here.

Have you ever made a mistake relating to Pokemon?

Like using the wrong move, didn't know the type strengths and weaknesses or completely forgot about abilities?

    Share your mistakes here!

My biggest mistake was probably in Ruby, where I had two Grass-types on my team and most of my team back then had weak moves. I was such a noob back then...

In Red/Blue, I was under the impression that moves like Bide, Psywave, and Fissure were good moves to use because they were gifts from the gym leaders.

That and generally using two or three STAB moves on each of my pokemon.

Yeah, I feel sorry for you. I remember battling the Sinnoh Pokemon for the first time and I forgot about their types.

I always had about 3 STAB moves on my Pokemon... It's embarrassing just thinking about it. And I still forget the Sinnoh Pokemons' types.

I remember how i gave my pikachu in yellow

    thundershock
    thunderbolt
    thunder
    thunderwave
    XD

I thought it was good, ahah but i was young and didn't know how to play pokemon

I got pretty much owned vs ground pokemon

I'll occasionally forget a pokemon secondary typing.

I rarely load a pokemon with the same type of moves. I give them all diffrent move types for coverage, but that does mean that none of them have support moves.

And levitate. I ALWAYS forget about that ability.

I only trained my Swampert in Sapphire, which proved to be an utter mistake because it left my other Pokemon behind in the dust. In future playthroughs, I train my Pokemon almost evenly.

I also used to think that rain also increased the accuracy of Water moves (because Hydro Pump hit almost every time in the rain for me).

When I was a wee lad playing Sapphire for the first time, I kept trying to use Toxic on Steven's Metagross. That cost me the battle.

I used to do the exact same thing with my Sceptile xD

Am I the only one who still can't remember types/type weaknesses? I make those mistakes all the time...

When I was really young I made the mistake of thinking that after a pokemon went over their evolution level they could never evolve, and I didn't understand the steps=exp when walking so I tried about 20 times to get to the daycare fast enough so that my metapod didn't get to level 10. Never did, and I even released it!

Then later my sister told me I just could have leveled it up one more time. :|

    Nice thread :P
    Hmm ok
Back in pokemon blue/red I always learned my pokemon moves of their type or similar to their type (common :p)
Also another common mistake was that I didnt know the weaknesses back then except for Fire>Grass>Water>Fire...

Well I do remember using my master ball on a shellder in pokemon blue haha. And yeah I also tended to give my pokemon 2-3 stab moves and then most likely an HM on top of that

ahaha XD I used it on a rattata back then when i had no idea what it does

Back in Red I thought Dragon Rage was a good move, so I kept it instead of Hyper Beam. I could never figure out why my friends could beat my Dragonite.

Back in the days of G/S/C, I would only train one Pokémon, and skipped half the trainer. That made the game pretty tough, but also make the game less fun than it could have been. I still loved it though.

Back then, the other mistake I always made was never knowing what the moves did, so I often just tough my team crappy moves.

The 3-4 stab moves to a Pokémon thing was a problem too lol

One relatively recent mistake I made was in my first playthrough of HeartGold:

"Oh, I know! I'll confuse Whitney's Miltank with my Gastly! All she can hit me with is Rollou--"
    Miltank used Stomp! Gastly fainted!
"What. Why did-- oh. Scrappy. durr."

    Indeed.

I also have the tendency to forget some dual types, particularly in Gen 1 Pokemon. For example, I frequently think that Slowpoke is pure water rather than Water/Psychic. I keep thinking that it gains its secondary typing when it evolves, like Starmie.

You forgot about Scrappy LOL... it allows Miltank to hit Ghost-types with attacks that Ghosts would normally be immune to.

My first run through of emerald SUCKED. I taught my pokemon every Hm move they could learn, used my masterball on a solrock, I sold all my items because I thought they were useless and then turned around and needed them again, I once bought 99 full heals thinking they would fully heal my pokemon (then sold them during the previous item perge) And hyper beam.....oh boy did I have fun with hyper beam. I've hyper beamed my partner in a double battle, killed the weather trio with it, attacked steel/rock types with it.....good times. To top it all off I deleted the save game because of a "cheat" that said if I deleted my game, and beat my rival with each starter and started a new game I would get all three......and did I mention I caught my first shiny not long before that?
