best generic [insert animal here] pokemon?

im talking about the rodent, bird, electric rodent etc. equivalents that you see most generations.
1: ratata, sentret, zigzagoon, bidoof, or patrat?
2: pidgey, hoothoot, tallow, starly, or pidove?
3: pikachu, plusle/minum, pichirasu, or emolga?
4: any other ones you can think of?

Hmm... Sentret because he looks decent/other reasons (looking at the old FFL here XD) or Zigzagoon due to Pickup and the HM slave-help to boot. Rattata is all right for me though - but bidoof is one of my larger dislikes and patrat is only slightly better (I personally call it angry-gerbil-thing XD).

For the birds, Tailow or Starly, but to be frank I like all of them just fine bar pidove which I feel 'eh' about overall - not sure why but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Design-wise definately Emolga - it looks the 'cutest' and not naseusatingly so as well. Pikachu would be second only because I rate it higher than the rest which are boring for me. (Besides - Surfing/Flying Pikachu!)

Best rodent: As much as I hate to say it, that honor goes to Bidoof because it and Bibarel are the best HM slaves out there.
Best bird: Starly. Staraptor gets Close Combat to deal with the Rocks and Steels out there.
Best mascot: Pikachu. It's the original one.

It should go:

Rodents: Rattata, Sentret, Zigzagoon, Bidoof, Patrat - Zig for me because Linoone is beautiful!
Birds: Pidgey, Hoothoot, Tailow, Starly, Pidove - Pidove for me = Unfezant is epic!
Electric: Pikachu (+evos), Pusle/Minun, Pachirisu, Emolga - Pikachu, but I like the last two too :)
Fish: Goldeen/+Magikarp, Remoraid, Feebas, Finneon, Basculin - Finneon!
Caterpillar: Caterpie, Weedle, Wurmple, Sewaddle, Venipede - Wurmple - 2 evos!
Cats: Meowth, Skitty, Glameow, Purlioin - Erm.. Purlion for me :)

And I suppose you can go and add more and group other similar pokemon together but I felt those were the important ones! Not sure if Goldeen counts... or if those fish really go together well!

You could have Butterfree, Venomoth, Beautifly, Dustox, Mothim and Volcorona too...
Scyther, Heracross and Pinsir?
I don't know it could get silly...
