[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

@I,Scream - Nice post. Just one thing I picked up, you refer to Horsea as Eevee a couple of times. Other than that nice post though.

Congratulations Horsea grew to Level 14 and learned Focus Energy

"Everyone, time for a team talk," Warren called as he released his party of six. Poliwag, who'd been with him since the beginning. Rattata, the mother of the group but not afraid to get her hands...er, make that paws, dirty. Bellsprout, caught on a whim but the group's strongest fighter by far. Gastly, always brooding silently, but with hidden strengths and a rock-solid determination. Then the group's new arrivals, the playful but feisty Cubone and the elusive Venonat. Slowly, Poliwag, Rattata, Bellsprout and Gastly looked around. The plant stepped forwards.
"Bell bell?" it asked, flapping its leaves to mimic wings. Warren hung his head.
"You guys catch on fast, huh? Well...I've got some bad news. Beedrill is..." his voice trailed off, but he shook his head and started again.
"Beedrill...is...gone." Poliwag frowned.
"Poli?" it squeaked as Warren dropped his head into his hands.
"He's missing...most likely...dead. We have only a slim chance of ever finding him and..." Warren's voice cracked, "He won't even remember us if we do." The group gasped, even Cubone and Venonat who didn't know who on earth Beedrill was.
"I'm...I'm sorry guys. I should have been able to protect you. All of you. But I couldn't. I've...I've been thinking it over and," he took a deep breath, "I think that you should all stay here."
"POLIII?"
"Raattaa?"
"Sprout?"
"Gaasss?" Warren chewed his lip.
"I...can't be a trainer any more. A trainer looks after their Pokémon, protects them from danger and keeps them safe. I don't even know if this is what I want anymore. These last few months have been the best of my life, but I can't ignore the fact that if I keep going, you guys could get hurt or worse..." Warren stood abruptly.
"I'll leave your Pokeballs with Malcolm, so that he can release you into the Safari Zone once I'm gone. It's probably the best place for - YAARRGH!" Warren leapt back as Rattata sunk her sharp teeth into his finger, drawing blood.
"What the hell are you doing?" he shouted angrily, but Gastly came forwards. Slowly, it extended a thin tendril of gas and pointed at Warren's belt, brushing over the badges. Warren faltered.
"You've come too far to give up now, Warren." the teenager turned as Malcolm appeared in the doorway of the small rest stop. Warren frowned.
"But...what if this happens again?"
"Then you keep going. Not for yourself, but for them. Your dreams might be floating away, but they're keeping a firm hold of theirs. You'll only hurt them more if you leave. You are a hero to them and you are on the edge of becoming a villain." Warren looked at the man who'd helped him so much recently.
"I...Malcolm, I'm scared," he whispered in a low voice, "For the first time in my life, I'm terrified about what could happen."
"I know," came the reply, "But being a hero isn't about having no fear. That's a fool. Being a hero is about feeling that fear, then doing what needs to be done anyway." Warren nodded. He had to keep going. Beedrill would have been disgusted to realise that Warren had just given up.
"Okay, guys." he said shakily, grinning weakly, "You heard him. Its time we got back to our quest - let's go to the Gym!" The Pokémon cheered as Warren spun on his heel, marching out with a look of new determination on his face. Soon, the Gym loomed ahead, a forbidding slab of grey concrete. Warren shivered, but his mind was set.
"Alright, Beedrill," he whispered to himself, "This one's for you!"

Okay guys, after over a week of inactivity I've decided made some changes. Basically I will update new areas as soon as the FIRST RPer reaches it. Also once the first RPer collects their 8th badge, there will be a period of one week (real time) for everyone to finish collecting their badges and reach Indigo Plateau to compete in the league. Anyone who has not completed by the end of the extra week will not be able to complete in the league. They will however be eligible for the second part of this RP (If we get that far). So yeah guys... POST!!!!!!

p.s. I know this sounds like a rant, but I'm just trying to keep this thread alive. :)

OOC: well, it took a while, but I'm finally done in Fuschia XD. I'll post up mine and sasuneuchiha's joint post soon as well :D

Warren let out a long sigh of anticipation as he gazed at huge Gym building. Glancing at his team, Warren quickly chose his three battlers. Cubone had a type advantage, Venonat was invulnerable to poisoning and Poliwag was a determined fighter.
"Rattata, Bellsprout, return!" Gastly looked at him curiously as the other two returned to their balls.
"Gastly, I want you to keep an eye out for Guy. If he sent that Grimer, then he'll be nearby and I don't want to be caught off-guard. Stop him if you can, alert me if you can't." Gastly nodded, then dissipated, spreading itself so thinly that it was virtually invisible. Warren grinned and walked into the gym, gasping as he saw the interior. In the centre, a large battlefield dominated a sandy arena, surrounded by bubbling pits of some odd purple goo. The entire room was lit in a sickly green light.
"Another challenger?" called a mocking voice from the other end as a man dressed in a purple robe stepped forwards, "I am Koga, a master martial artist and a specialist of the Poison-Type. You don't know despair until you've felt your strength be sapped away by destructive toxins."
"Can we just get on with it?" Warren shouted back, not in the mood for talking about despair, "Poliwag, you'll be up first." The tadpole stepped forwards and Koga smiled like a shark.
"Let's go, Venonat!" Warren grinned as the bug burst out onto the field; he already knew how these fought - psychic attacks and little physical contact.
"Start with Water Sport!" Warren shouted, "Make the arena into a swamp!" Poliwag chirped in agreement, then spun around, squirting thin jets of water all over the place. Venonat shook itself down as it was drenched by a wayward blast, then looked around in shock. The whole battlefield was turned into a marsh. Koga laughed out loud.
"You've got some tactics, boy, that's for sure!" he bellowed, "But they won't be enough to beat me!"

Gastly lazily opened one eye as sounds of the battle drifted out from inside the gym. Most Pokémon would have been annoyed at being given sentry duty, but Gastly had always been somewhat of a loner, so he relished a chance to spend some time alone with nothing but his thoughts.
"Come on, Marshtomp. It sounds like he started the battle without us. How…rude." Gastly blanched as the voice drifted up from the doorway. He could see red hair from his bird's eye view, but nothing else. Not that it would have done much good, anyway, seeing as Gastly had never even met Guy. Drifting down, he rushed in front of the doorway, a billow of smoke that elicited a rather effeminate cry of shock. Gastly had to keep from laughing. This Guy was really more of a girl at heart. Floating down gently behind the red head, Gastly slowly extended its tongue and licked the intruder on the back of their head, disappearing as they spun around.
"All right, Marshtomp, it seems we have a ghost…use Foresight!" Gastly froze as the mud fish, crouching by this Guy person looked right at him, its pupils glowing red. Seconds later, his invisibility faded completely.
"Rock Tomb!" Gastly flew to the side as a huge amount of small rocks materialized over Marshtomp's head; it threw them towards him with quick flicks of its arms. The ghost was hit full on, buried under a pile of rubble. Strenuously, it charged against the sides of its prison, but could barely even move. As the red-head turned to leave, Gastly shot out its tongue in desperation and wrapped it around the unwelcome intruder's leg. He was not about to give just yet.

"Venonat, use Confusion on yourself!" Koga ordered and the bug leapt into the air, its eyes glowing. Warren gasped as, rather than falling, Venonat simply hung in mid air, its fur glowing faintly purple from the psychic attack. Warren smiled begrudgingly.
"That's a fancy display," he called, "But your Venonat can only move as quickly as it thinks. Poliwag, use Water gun in short, fast bursts!" Grinning, Poliwag jumped forwards, happily splashing through the mud that it was completely at home in. Venonat darted to the side as a jet of water shot past its ear, but then came another, and another. Spinning across the surface of the mud, it barely missed them all, finally charging forwards and barrelling into Poliwag with a full-powered tackle. The tadpole wailed as it splashed into the mud, but threw itself back up again.
"Look out, Poliwag!" Warren shouted anxiously. The swampy arena had cushioned the fall, but the Tackle itself had been very powerful.
"Okay, different tactic!" he shouted, "Use Hypnosis!" Koga gasped as Poliwag's spiral began to spin crazily, blurring into a hypnotic pattern. Venonat blinked a few times, the purple glow flickering. For a second, it seemed to resist, then the bug fell, hitting the floor with a loud splat.
"Give it a Water Gun from point-blank range!" Warren shouted gleefully and Poliwag charged forwards, springing forwards to land directly in front of Venonat. Grinning evilly, it opened its mouth and fired a powerful burst of icy-cold water that bodily lifted Venonat from the floor. The bug screeched out loud as it was thrown several feet, but it was very much awake and caught itself before it hit the floor, Confusion enveloping its body once more.
"Disable that Water Gun!" Koga shouted and Warren blanched as a red glow surrounded Poliwag. It didn't seem to do any harm, but Water Gun was off the list of Poliwag's attacks for now.
"Hypnosis, again!" Warren shouted, desperate to regain control.
"Close your eyes and use Supersonic!" Koga replied, grinning. Venonat snapped its eyes shut, making itself impervious to Poliwag's spinning patterns. Then, screeching, it flew forwards and screamed in Poliwag's face. Shaking its head, the tadpole stumbled, confused.
"Damn it, Poliwag, concentrate and use Bubble!" Warren called out, worried. Poliwag stopped moving, closed its eyes, took a deep breath and focused…then shot Warren in the face with its bubbles. Spluttering, Warren held out a Pokeball, returning Poliwag. It was worse than useless until it had a chance to calm down in its own space.
"Venonat, you're up!" he shouted, revealing the blue-eyed bug. Koga gasped, then roared with laughter.
"You must have got pretty lucky to catch that shiny Venonat!" he roared, "Because there's no way you could have caught it with your own skill!" Warren gritted his teeth, then grinned as a brainwave came to him.
"Use Disable!" he shouted and suddenly, the tables were reversed – a red glow around Koga's Venonat and Supersonic was a thing of the past. Warren smiled.
"You've got some good ideas, dude!" he called, "But you'll never beat this! Venonat, Confusion!" The two bugs locked eyes and the purple glow around Koga's Venonat gained a blue tinge. All was silent as the bug shuddered in the air, struggling to keep stable.
"Finish it!" Warren shouted and Venonat gave one last screech as it pushed its opponent into the floor…then the ceiling…then the floor again. Warren gasped as his newest capture slammed its opponent up, down and all around the room. Koga called out in shock, but he was too late. His bug lay in a quivering heap in the mud.

"For god's sake, let me go you stupid ghost!" Gastly strained against his tugging adversary, desperately thinking of some way to stop them. Of course! The Marshtomp! Focusing its strength, Gastly released the human and looked at the Marshtomp, its eyes glowing a deep blood red. The mud fish laughed, then turned to go. Except it couldn't. Almost as if it was being held back by invisible bonds, Marshtomp was straining against seemingly thin air. The red head gasped.
"Mean Look!" Gastly chuckled. With Marshtomp unable to leave or be returned, the duo would be forced to get through him before facing Warren. Still grinning, the ghost chose its next attack. As the two trespassers watched, black bolts of lightning fired out of the pile of rocks and suddenly…it exploded. Gastly floated there, the ghostly Nightshade attack still playing over its skin. His adversary grinned.
"Bring it on!"

"Koffing, let's take this Venonat down!" Koga called as he threw his next Pokeball. Warren grinned as the balloon-like Pokémon floated in front of him.
"Confusion!" he shouted, just as Koga shouted;
"Sludge!" Koffing was thrown back into the mud, but the disgusting slime drenched Venonat and its concentration was broken, sending it falling to the ground.
"Finish it with Smog!" Koffing grinned, flying forwards. Venonat shrieked as the gassy Pokémon flew around it in a tight circle, firing off thick jets of greenish-brown gas as it did so. The shrieks soon turned to coughs, though and Warren heard what sounded like something falling over. Eventually, the Smog cleared to reveal Venonat lying on its back, unconscious. Warren frowned.
"Return, Venonat. Good job. Poliwag, time for another round!" The tadpole hopped out onto the field again, squelching through the mud happily.
"Hypnosis!" Once more, Poliwag's spiral began to spin and Koffing's eyes fell shut, though it stayed afloat.
"Alright, Poliwag, get on board the Koffing Express!" Warren shouted, laughing at his own joke, even though it was pretty pathetic. Poliwag ignored his guffawing and leapt up, landing squarely on Koffing's head. It floated a little lower, but didn't awaken.
"Alright, now use Water Gun! Fill it up to bursting point!" Poliwag looked down to one of the holes that adorned Koffing's skin and fired a jet of water right into it. Immediately, water began to pour out of the other holes, but Warren and Koga could both see that Koffing was slowly getting bigger…and bigger…and bigger…suddenly, its eyes shot open.
"Koff?" It groaned just before Poliwag jumped off and Koffing flew across the room like a balloon, smashing hard into one of the walls. Koga gasped. Slowly, the dust settled and Koffing floated forwards, beaten and broken but still willing to keep going. Koga's eyes narrowed.
"Self Destruct!"

Gastly flew to the side as a Water Gun went wild, skimming its trail of gas. Spinning to face the Marshtomp, he reeled out his tongue, slapping the mud fish across the face. Its trainer steeped out of the way as it stumbled backwards, then thrust out an arm towards the ghost.
"Use Ice Beam!" Gastly screeched as it was struck by the freezing blue beam, parts of its gassy body turning to liquid that dripped to the ground.
"Alright, now let's use Mud Bomb!" Gastly flew straight up this time as the hard packed balls of mud burst open on the ground beneath, swooping down right behind Marshtomp. It spun around to see two red glowing eyes – Hypnosis. Stumbling, Marshtomp fell to the ground, asleep.
"Damn it! Wake up!" its trainer shouted, but to no avail. Grinning, Gastly wrapped his long tongue around Marshtomp's feet, then threw it high into the air. Still snoring, the mud fish fell, gathering speed until it smashed into the concrete floor hard enough to make a visible imprint on it. Its trainer gasped and Gastly grinned. This battle was becoming very one sided…

Warren ducked as Koffing literally exploded, tongues of flame lashing across the entire arena. Poliwag was completely hidden by the flames and smoke. Slowly, ever so slowly, the dust settled to reveal both Poliwag and Koffing lying on the floor, unconscious. More than that, the heat of the explosion had baked the mud into a hard surface. Warren scowled as he and Koga both returned their Pokémon.
"Cubone, you're up!" he shouted and the bone-wielding rodent sprung onto the pitch. Koga sniggered.
"You're going to need more than that if you want to beat VENOMOTH!" he shouted and a huge, purple moth burst out of his final Pokeball. Warren gasped. It looked like he was in real trouble now.

"Come on, Marshtomp, get up!" Gastly grinned at the trainer's ineffectual begging, then gasped as slowly, the mud fish began to rise, its skin alight with a strange blue glow. Torrent was kicking in, giving Marshtomp extra attack power. Gastly might just be in trouble…
"Use Water Gun once more!" the ghost flew back as an impossibly fast and powerful jet of water smashed into its face, driving it to the ground. Gastly screeched in pain, shaking himself off as he slowly rose into the air again.
"Another one. Water Gun!" This time, Gastly was determined to fight back. Gathering his strength, he glowed a satanic bluish-black, then fired a beam of dark lightning straight into the stream of water – Nightshade. Grunting from the strain, Marshtomp gave its all, but the two were locked in a perpetual tie, the two attacks colliding directly in the centre. Gastly moaned as his strength was pushed to its limits. He had to think of something fast, or he was going to start tiring and then it would all be over.

"Venomoth, start with Psybeam!" Koga shouted and Venomoth fluttered forwards, its eyes glowing. Cubone threw itself to the side as the rainbow-coloured beam struck the ground where it had been standing just seconds ago.
"Fight back with Bone Club!" Warren shouted and Cubone darted forwards, moving surprisingly quickly considering it had a heavy skull on its head. Leaping up behind Venomoth, Cubone smashed his club into the back of the bug's head. Laughing as it fell several feet, brushing the ground with its wings, Cubone darted forwards, jumping again to try and score another hit. This time, though, Venomoth spun around and fired off another Psybeam, striking Cubone right in the face. The rodent flew backwards, crying out with pain and Warren gritted his teeth.
"Alright, try a Tail Whip and Headbutt combo!" Cubone stepped forwards shakily, then jumped, swiping Venomoth across the face with its stubby tail, before slamming the skull into the bug's face. Squeaking, Venomoth fluttered backwards, but steadied itself and eyed Cubone angrily. It was going to take something special to deal with this bug, once and for all…

Flying straight up, Gastly broke contact with Marshtomp, Water Gun streaming harmlessly below him. With his tongue extended, Gastly dropped down behind Marshtomp and slapped it across the face. Screeching, Marshtomp's head snapped upwards, then it slowly keeled over. Its trainer gasped, staring at Gastly through the screen of red hair. Slowly, they stepped backwards, returning Marshtomp to its Pokeball. Gastly sniggered as his adversary turned to go, then tripped. A few small blue pieces of metal fell out and Gastly darted over, snatching up one with his tongue. The trainer spat on the floor as they scrambled for the rest, before standing up.
"I don't suppose you'll be giving that back?" Gastly's only response was the hold out its tongue again, this time empty. The trainer shook their head.
"You'd just better be prepared next time, cheater!" Gastly frowned at the odd insult, but his opponent had already turned and fled.

"Oh no, Cubone, you look hurt!" Warren shouted, inspired. Catching his tone, Cubone staggered, feigning confusion and Koga grinned.
"Tackle it!" Venomoth flew in for a close range attack, but fell to the ground as Cubone spun to the side, bringing its club down on the bug's back.
"Ha-ha, nice one Cubone. Finish it with your best Bone Club!" Cubone leapt into the air over the grounded Venomoth, before bringing down its club in a two handed smash on its head. The moth screeched once, then fainted. Koga gasped, then shook his head and returned the fallen fighter.
"I am glad to see that trainers are still using real tactics," he called, "Far too many simply force their Pokémon through excessive training, until the entire thing becomes a one-sided slapping match. It may be enough to beat me, but it won't be enough to become a master. That's what strategies are for. Here," he held out a small metal badge, "Take this." Warren grinned as he accepted the small token of his victory, clipping it onto his belt next to the others.
"Good battle, Cubone," he called, "Let's go get Gastly and head on to the next gym!"

Warren gasped as he saw Gastly resting outside the gym. It was panting, exhausted and, for some reason, dripping wet. Gastly turned to him, rolling out its tongue. Warren frowned as he bent down, picking up a small blue tear-drop shaped badge. The Cascade badge. Misty's badge. Warren gasped as he remembered his last battle with the Cerulean gym leader. Anyone would be mad after having a Mudkip on their face, but to be that angry…it would explain why Gastly was so wet, at least.
"Gastly…have you been in a battle?" he asked. The ghost nodded slowly.
"With Misty?" Gastly shrugged somehow, despite the lack of shoulders.
"Well…did they have red hair?" Gastly nodded again and Warren frowned.
"Did she have a Mudkip?" A shake of the head.
"…a Marshtomp?" A nod.
"And did you find out why she was here, before you got into this battle?" Gastly nodded once more, its eyes growing wide. It faced Cubone.
"Gaastly, Gaaas?" Cubone nodded, then stepped forward a little, before miming a battle to Warren. As he frowned at Cubone's questionable acting talent, Gastly drifted over and pushed Cubone over, then laughed in a deliberately girly way. Warren chuckled.
"So she came to mess up the battle?" Gastly nodded as Cubone stood up, annoyed. After all, Gastly had forgotten to mention that it was going to push him over. Warren sighed.
"So now we've got two people after us…but we've got another badge. We can't let some sore loser stop us." Tossing the badge to the side, Warren grinned.
"So who are we going to beat next?"

OOC: Um, yeah, I just totally wrote this all up now. I completely didn't have it saved on my computer: I just write that fast.

Sam was crying as he ran to the beach. No longer about losing, but now about losing James. It wasn't long, however, before he crashed into someone standing there.
"Oh! I'm sorry...I'm just in a hurry," Sam said. Warren growled at the stuttered apology, turning to face the tall boy who had run right into him.
"Ever heard of these amazing new inventions that stop you charging into people? They're called eyes." Chuckling at the hilarious joke (or so he thought, at least), Warren turned to leave.
"You...why? You're just as cruel as he was...after that match...no. I WILL defeat you!" Sam yelled. "GYARA!" he screeched. His Pokémon was already out and ready to go. Warren froze as he heard the unmistakeable roar of the Gyarados. Those things were called atrocious for a reason and whoever this guy was, he didn't seem to be in the most stable mental state at the moment.
"Bellsprout, I could use a hand here!" he shouted, releasing the Grass type from its Pokeball. Gyarados were part flying, which would nullify Bellsprout's effectiveness offensively, but at least the water-type attacks would be less effective. Bellsprout cringed as it saw the leering dragon, but Warren gritted his teeth.
"Use Stunspore!" he shouted gleefully, "And make that Gyarados helpless!"
"Heh...think you're strong, don't ya...well, I've got news! Use Thrash! On the water!" Sam said. Gyarados splashed...crazily. The powder was caught in it, nullifying it. "Now! Hit Bellsprout!" Sam said. Gyarados flew up on land, knocking Bellsprout to the ground. "Still think you're so tough?" Sam asked. Needless to say, the clichéd bravado did not go down well with Warren.
"Tough? I'm a hell of a lot tougher than you, you ponce! With all of your so-called fashion, I'm half expecting you to start calling me 'darling'. Now, you useless plant," he continued, turning to Bellsprout, "STOP lying on the floor! Restrain that thing with your Vine Whip!"
"Someone told me a true bond with one's Pokémon is required to win. Now, I can tell...you believe Pokémon are tools, and that's where you're wrong. True, I don't have a bond as flawless as I'd like, but I have one a hell of a lot better than yours! Go Gyara! Use Bite!" Sam said. Gyara moved in, despite the vine draping him. "Rule one, fool. Gyara's ability is intimidate. Means that he can weaken attack power upon entering a battle. Since Bellsprout has crap attack power to start with and then Vine Whip's physical, that won't do you crap. Show it, Gyara! Teach him how strong bonds are!" Sam yelled happily. Gyara bit down, choking Bellsprout. "Perhaps you should recall it?" Sam asked. Warren laughed.
"I think I'm not the only one who needs to do their homework. Bellsprout's ability is chlorophyll, which means that in weather like this," Warren gestured towards the clear blue sky, "It can move at incredible speeds. Bellsprout, use your Vinewhip, but not as a weapon - use it to get onto Gyarados's head, then spray it with Poison Powder!" The plant grinned and leapt forwards, swinging forwards on its vines almost faster than the eye could follow.
"Crap...splash!" Sam said. Gyarados started throwing its weight around, knocking the water up into the air, once again neutralizing the powder. "Hum...this is a lot like Koga's battle. Lots of paralysis attacks and sleeping attacks...and poisonous attacks. Interesting move combo...here in the water it's useless, though. Your vine whip isn't doing you any good. Gyara's just too strong. Still so sure you're way tougher than I am?" Sam asked, smirking now. Warren gritted his teeth. Powder attacks weren't going to do anything unless he could ensure they got to Gyarados, which was unlikely to say the least. Memories were coming back, though, of facing an Ekans outside Vermillion. That time, Bellsprout had sent Sleep Powder right down the opponent's throat. Bellsprout was still clinging to the top of Gyarados's head, so perhaps...
"Stick your head in its mouth and use Stun Spore!" Warren bellowed, "Let's see the jerk evade this one!"
"Um...see the jerk evade this one? Okay...Gyara! Bite!" Sam yelled. He knew this was his worst possible move, but this probably was his best option. "Now...SPIT IT AT THE ROCKS!" Sam yelled. Gyara built up energy and fired. Bellsprout was light, but it was still enough. It made a nice impression on the rocks. "Well? Still think it's strong enough to beat my Gyara? You're Pokémon...it's knocked out. Return it. Trust me, it's not worth the pain it'll cause." Warren couldn't hold it in any longer.
"You really are an idiot, aren't you? Sure, Bellsprout's KO'ed, but it served its purpose. Right now, the Stun Spore will be settling in Gyarados's lungs. It's only a matter of time before it's rendered unable to even move." Warren grinned. "So, let's get the show on the road...Venonat! Use Supersonic!" In a flash of light, the purple bug leapt onto the battlefield, giving off an ear splitting screech.
"Hmm...well, Gyara, return. You've served your purpose as well. Yeah, there's something I'd like to try, but I'll wait. Go! Vulpix!" Sam said, throwing out his youngest Pokémon. "Vul?" Vulpix whispered. "Yes, battle time, Vulpix. Not against James. We're working on getting stronger now. Strong enough to beat James. But now its practice time. Versus a Venonat. With blue eyes. Be careful. Now! Hypnosis!" Sam said. Vulpix's eyes turned purple, then Venonat's did. Then, it fell asleep. "Good. Now! Firewall!" Sam said. This was their new combo. It meant, light up the ground in front of the opponent, then jump over it to the other side. "Now! Roar!" Sam yelled. Vulpix let loose a loud roar, waking and scaring his opponent. Venonat ran backwards, and since it did not see the flames in time, it was quickly lit up. "Good work, Vulpix! Now! Ember attack!" Sam commanded. Vulpix shot flames from its mouth at Venonat, who was injured by the attack. "Well? Just cause I look like I might be weak doesn't mean I am. Well? Still sure you can defeat me easily?" Sam asked. This guy, he needed help. Maybe Sam could provide this...
"Oh you are so going down!" Warren bellowed as his prized Venonat squeaked weakly, the embers on its body spluttering out, "Venonat, use Confusion on that firewall thing and cover Vulpix in flames. It might be a fire-type but no Pokemon could survive that!" Venonat grinned, then stepped forwards again, its eyes glowing faintly. The wall of fire rose up, sweeping across the battlefield like a deadly wind and completely enshrouding Vulpix in flames.
"Ha...haha...hahahahahaha...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sam started laughing now. "You know what I'm laughing about? How stupid you were right there. Vulpix has a special ability too, just like Gyara. Vulpix's ability is called Flash Fire. Do you know what that does? It boosts the power of fire type moves when hit with any type of flames. Now! Vulpix, charge in, then Ember!" Sam yelled.
"Venonat, confusion!" Warren yelled and instantly, Vulpix froze in its tracks, unable to even release the barrage of flames that was waiting in its mouth.
"Now, Disable and follow up with Tackle!" Venonat glowed red a little in response, but nothing seemed to happen. However, in Vulpix's throat, the flames were dying. Disable had left it incapable of using its Ember attack. Venonat wasn't done yet, though. As it held the orange fox there, trapped, it ran forwards and leapt, delivering an explosive Tackle.
"Hmm...interesting style there. Not your average move...stops one of my moves...and I think that's Vulpix's only attack, too. Oh well. Let's try something new, Vulpix! Those flames are still around, and you're down now. To light your tail! Time for an attack!" Sam yelled. Vulpix started pulling its tail through the flames, ready to fight. "Now! Hit it with Tail Whip!" Sam yelled. Vulpix charged, slapping Venonat across the head with its new flaming tail. "Don't let it get away! Teach it! Again!" Sam said. Vulpix adjusted position to hit it harder the second time. "Now! Blow your tail's flames with roar!" Sam yelled. Vulpix put its tail between its mouth and Venonat and roared. The force shot the flames forward. Venonat was severely injured. "Well? Can Venonat still fight? If not, I'll have Vulpix calm down. But if so I'll finish this now..." Sam said. Venonat really did look like it was about to go down. A lot of its fur was badly burnt and it was struggling to keep standing. Warren gritted his teeth. He would only get one chance, so he'd have to use it well. This kid was beating the crap out of him so far, but how? Warren remembered the battle with Gyarados. He'd nullified every single one of the powder attacks using the water so maybe...
"Venonat, use your Confusion on the sea to send a wave at Vulpix!" Warren shouted gleefully. Screeching with the effort, Venonat held out its hand, alight with the blue fire of Confusion. Vulpix started as a wave, nearly four metres high swept up the beach and towered over it.
"Now, Venonat!" Warren shouted, "Bring it crashing down!"
Sam started clapping. This guy hadn't done a half bad job. "Now...good work. Except you have but one problem. Lifting the flames did a fair job and injured Vulpix, but Vulpix is stronger than that. I have a good friend to thank for that...anyway. Vulpix is still standing, and it doesn't look like she's injured any more. Vulpix! Charge and use Ember!" Sam yelled. Venonat stepped out of the way, now out of fear and habit. "Good...good." Sam said, as the flames instead lit up some plant life behind Venonat. "Now! Run into the flames!" Sam yelled. Vulpix charged into the flames. They were warming it...healing it, and strengthening it. "Now! Let it loose! Ember!" Sam said. Vulpix shot its strongest flames yet with the power of the flames aiding it. Venonat didn't have time to evade this move, and was quickly enveloped in flames. "Well? Are you sure Venonat's not done yet?" Sam asked. Warren chuckled.
"Use your head, man. Vulpix isn't the only one who got wet from that wave." he gestured to Venonat who was, amazingly, still standing. Just. "Even the most powerful Ember isn't going to do much if the target's soaked to the skin. The water put out most of the flames the second they hit Venonat. Now, let's Disable again, Venonat. We have to keep that Ember out of the picture!" Once again, Venonat gave off the faint red pulse and Vulpix shook its head a little, Ember disappearing from its mind.
"Now, use confusion to send those burning plants into the water, we don't want it doing that thing with Roar again!" Venonat continued, laboriously pushing the burning bush into the sea, where it was quenched with a hiss.
"Okay, now let's make this battle really annoying, Venonat! Confuse that Vulpix with Supersonic!" Finally, the bug glanced at the fox and gave off one ear-splitting screech. The volume was low, due to Venonat's injured condition, but the sound waves struck Vulpix dead on and the fiery fox was now looking as if it didn't have a clue where it was.
"Vulpix. Please. Be calm. You can do this. Ember!" Sam said with increasing volume. "Vul!" Vulpix cried, shooting flames...in the completely wrong direction. "No! Vulpix! MY LEG!" Sam yelled. Vulpix's flames had been right at Sam's leg. "Vul...?" Vulpix asked quietly. "Don't worry 'bout it. Calm down, though. You'll be fine...just focus. Just because you can't see straight...or partially think straight...doesn't mean you can't find Venonat. Now! Listen!" Sam encouraged. Vulpix closed its eyes and concentrated. Venonat was still releasing the waves that confused it, but apparently, Vulpix got lucky. It shot some flames, right at its opponent, who was critically injured. "Well? Vulpix and I are a great team. I've been with her since her birth. Literally..." Sam said happily. Venonat lay on the floor, barely moving. By some miracle, it was still conscious, but it wouldn't be doing any fighting.
"Return, Venonat," Warren said, heavily, "Let's give this a go, Poliwag!" Squealing happily, the tadpole burst from its ball, poised and ready for action.
"Alright, get up close and use Water gun!" Warren ordered and Poliwag leapt forwards. Vulpix stumbled, too confused to lock onto a moving target. Finally, Poliwag landed in front of it and laughing maniacally, exuded a torrent of water that threw Vulpix backwards.
"I guess you weren't as tough as you thought, were you!" Warren shouted, "It's as good as two down each now, with your Gyarados paralyzed and injured. Why don't you just give it up and go home!"
"Good job, Vulpix. Return," Sam said. Then, turning to Warren, he said, "You say I'm not tough. Which could be true, yes, but there's the other thing. Where you told me to go home. I can't go home. I've been away far too long. I left my family. I don't like that life. I belong here. Anyway, we'll continue now, then. Go. PIKA!" Sam yelled. His Pikachu came out of its ball, quickly preparing for its first fight in a while. "Okay! Let's do it! Thundershock!" Sam said. Pika was quickly in front of Poliwag. Faster than anyone could see. Especially Poliwag. It was quickly shocked by the electricity, causing it to shriek in pain. "This is Pika. Pikachu are quite rare. This one is a very good friend of mine. Good luck against it..." Sam said happily.
"An electric type, huh? Alright then...POLIWAG!" the tadpole looked around, awaiting some amazing order that would somehow nullify the type disadvantage. "RETURN!"
"Poliiiiii?" With a flash, the tadpole flew back to its Pokeball, mere seconds after entering the field of battle.
"Go, Cubone! Bone Club!" Another flash, and the rodent with a bone helmet charged, swinging its weapon with some serious power. Pikachu dodged, but Cubone kept swinging and seconds later, the two were darting across the entire arena in a pattern of dodging and attacking - Cubone never quite landing a hit, but Pikachu never getting an opening. One of them would have to flake soon - it was only a matter of time...
"Hm. Good choice there. Time for a substitution. Pika. Back. Don't worry. You'll be back soon as Poliwag is. Go Pidg!" Sam said, sending out his Pidgeotto. "Pidgo!" Pidgeotto screeched, flapping its wings freely. "Let's do it! Quick Attack!" Sam said. This was purely to get moving. Pidg got in close, but now it was time for the real show. Cubone swung its bone at Pidg as Sam said, "Now! Aerial Ace but keep the speed!" Pidg switched from the white glow following him to air gliding off. He hit at full speed, pulling Cubone with it and finally pulling up to throw it into a rock. "This is my Pidgeotto. My fastest Pokémon without a doubt. You sure you can keep up?" Sam asked. Warren chuckled.
"I don't need to keep up when your attacks are harmless," he called and sure enough, Cubone flipped itself back to its feet, showing little sign of injury, "That skull doesn't just look like a helmet - it acts like one and give powerful protection against physical attacks. Besides, Cubone are normally whiny little buggers, but this guy," Warren gestured to Cubone, who was slapping the palm of his hand with his club, "Is clearly not. So there's no need to assume he's slow, either. Bone Club, again, aim for the wing!" Leaping forwards, Cubone swung again. Pidg spun to the side, but a little too late. The club brushed its wing tip , sending the stricken bird in a plummeting spiral towards the sea.
"Ooookay. Guess that's enough messin' around. Pidg! Calm down. Don't focus on the pain. Instead, hit it with Aerial Ace, but don't aim for its head. Hit it in the stomach! Then air lift it down!" Sam said. Pidg flew forward, picking up his strong opponent into the air. Then, after a shuttle loop, where Pidg went for a shot at the stomach and hit successfully, Cubone hit the ground back first. "Still think we're so harmless?" Sam asked. Cubone struggled to its feet, pain evident in its face.
"Don't worry Cubone!" Warren shouted, "I've got an idea! Go defensive, hunker down low so it can't even see anything but your skull, let alone hit it! Then, when you get the chance, Bone Club to the face!"
"Hm. Wonder why I didn't see that earlier? You've used it...I've used it. Pidg! Pick it up with your talons." Sam said. Pidg flew in, picked up the heavy Pokémon and started carrying it. "Now. Move as fast as you can over the ocean and drop it." Sam said. Pidg flew...and dropped it. Cubone fell...with a splash. Warren gasped. This did not look good. Suddenly, a bubble appeared. Then another, then another, more and more until suddenly, Cubone's head broke the surface with a splash and, coughing and spluttering, it dragged itself out of the water.
"Nice one Cubone!" Warren shouted. The buoyant skull had clearly saved Cubone's life. "Alright, this isn't working. Cubone, return. Gastly, let's go! Mean Look to stop it switching, then follow with Hypnosis!" As the rodent returned to its Pokeball, the gassy ghost burst out, fixing Pidg with a deathly stare. The bird faltered a little, then began to sway as Gastly's eyes began glowing - Hypnosis.
"Crap. Mean Look. Stops me from switching. And Pidg is asleep. WAKE UP!" Sam yelled. Pidg, however, stayed asleep. "Well? You going to do anything or make me sit here? Attack...so I can hit back. Either that, or have Ghastly lift Mean Look so I can switch out." Sam said, now trying to negotiate.
"Lick it, Gastly!" Warren shouted and the ghost flew forwards, it tongue flying out towards Pidg...and passing straight through.
"Oh yeah," Warren groaned, "Normal type. Night Shade won't work either, so...Gastly, use Curse!" Bracing itself, Gastly hissed softly, a sharp spear of gas forming in front of it. Wincing slightly, it gave one last
"Gaaaasss..." and then thrust the weapon into its own chest. Warren flinched as Gastly pulled back, badly hurt by its own attack. But it had worked. Even now, smoke was creeping over the ground and trickling into Pidg's beak, corrupting it from the inside out. Gastly had nothing more to do, though.
"Return, Gastly, just sit back, relax and wait for the curse to do its work. There's nothing else to be done..."
Time slowly passed...and eventually...Pidg fell to the ground, defeated. "Return, buddy." Sam said. Pidg flew back in, signalling defeat. "Go...UMBRE!" Sam yelled. He wanted Umbre to avenge Pidg's defeat. "Let's do it! Shadow Ball!" Sam said, as Umbre came out. Still, Sam would kill to see that look on the guy's face again after what happened. He wasn't expecting the attack, as the critically injured Ghastly was hit by a powerful attack. "Now! Hit it hard with your Pursuit attack!" Sam yelled. Umbre charged, with the dark energy surrounding it. Closer...closer...direct hit! Ghastly flew back, now gasping for breath. "Your Gastly...its critically hurt. Maybe return it?" Sam asked, worried he'd gone too far.
"Don't tell me how to battle!" Warren shouted, worried. Gastly looked like it was struggling to just keep its self from drifting apart.
"Return, Gastly!" he called, "You did good. But it's someone else's turn now. Let's go, Poliwag!" Once again, the tadpole burst onto the battlefield. It had taken a nasty attack earlier, but it had been a one off and Poliwag had been resting for a while.
"Okay, Poliwag, let's continue with our theme, shall we? Hypnosis!"
"Hold up! This isn't Umbre's fight! Return. Pika! You're up!" Sam yelled. Pika was in now...time to finish this. "Let's do it! Quick Attack!" Sam yelled. Pika went left...right...up...down...hit. Pika was just too fast for Poliwag. Still, it wasn't going well. Pika, despite all that, had been hit by Hypnosis and was nodding off. "Quick! Get in one hit before you're sleeping! Full power Thundershock! Now!" Sam yelled. Pika shot electricity everywhere. Around Sam, the mysterious guy and Poliwag. Everything. Shocking...then Pika fell. Asleep. Sam smiled. If this was about as bad as it got...this'd be a great lifestyle to keep. Poliwag was thrown back by the force of the attack, electrical burns covering its thin skin. The tadpole was lucky that the Hypnosis had connected - if it hadn't, he'd almost certainly be out of it by now; that Thundershock had been seriously powerful.
"Return, Poliwag!" Warren called, for the second time, "Now, Cubone, Bone Club! Get it while it's vulnerable!" Cubone reappeared, far from 100% but in a better battling state then Pika. Growling happily, it threw itself forwards, bringing its club down in a swing that was heading straight for the rat's skull.
"Dang...it's over. Pika's...what?!" Sam gasped. Cubone was aimed. He was sure Pika was done. Except...Pika rolled over...right...past...Cubone. "Ooookayyy then...well...that was odd..." Sam said rather quietly.
"Bone Club, again, Cubone!" Warren shouted, "Don't stop swinging until you hit it!"
"Um...dude? You might not want to do that...you might make Pika..." Sam said, the sentence unfinished as Cubone hit Pika on the head. "Oh god...now he's mad..." Sam said, warningly. Pika was awake now...and seriously PO'd. "PIIIIIIIIKAAAAAAAAAA!" Pika screeched, tackling Cubone. Then, slapping it, Pika kept hitting and hitting and punching Cubone like there was no tomorrow. "Okay then. Quick Attack!" Sam yelled, now trying to gain dominance. Pika charged, hitting Cubone squarely in the chest. Cubone flew backwards...into the water again...
"Return, Cubone!" Warren shouted as the Pokémon brushed the surface. Then, a second later, "Go, Cubone again!" Sneering, Warren threw his Pokeball into the air and Cubone was back from the water's edge, looking none the worse for wear for it.
"Alright, Headbutt!" Warren ordered and Cubone charged. Taken completely by surprise, Pika was struck hard and no it was his turn to be flying into the water.
"Let's do it! Pika, get back in it! Use Thundershock on yourself to start..." Sam said. Pika shocked itself, charging its energy. It was about to hit the water, when command two took place. "Charge! Quick Attack!" Sam said. Pika hit the water, but running. This was Sam's ultimate combo, his mix up of Volt Tackle. Pika charged. Sam was thinking how this was an electric type attack and Cubone was a ground type. Oh well. Let it do what it would. Water was being pulled in. Static electricity was a powerful thing...Cubone was doomed as Pika hit it at full speed. Or so Sam and Pika thought. As Pika hit Cubone, it stumbled from the wave, then steadied itself, ignoring the sparks playing over its fur. Warren burst out laughing.
"Do you even know basic type match-ups? The wave was a nice idea but no volt-tackle imitation is ever gonna hurt a ground type...whereas a ground type attack is gonna really hurt an electric type. A ground type attack like, say, Bone club. Go, Cubone!" Once more, Cubone leapt forwards, breathing heavily from the exertion. Spinning around, Pika barely dodged the attack, but it was just a bit too tired from its charge - the club came slamming down on its sensitive tail. That had got to hurt.
"Dude? Do you WANT your Cubone to die? It keeps hitting Pika like that...Pika has...many issues...for example, its temper. Observe. I suggest no moves. Here is just Pika taking your Pokémon down..." Sam said, explaining something. "Piiika!" Pika screeched, charging in for more punches. One right to the skull. Even with the helmet like guard, it looked like it hurt. Then, Pika went in with Quick Attack, spinning the skull around in circles. Nearly flipping it off, but that would just be another great Pokémon discovery. Instead, Pika had no mercy, slapping Cubone across its entire body with its tail. This caused it to flinch. Bad move. Pika pounded on its back. Hard. That's it. Cubone was in serious pain. Pika wanted to keep going. This was bad. "DANG IT! PIKA!" Sam yelled, grabbing Pika. Pika kept freaking out in Sam's arms. "I warned you, did I not?" Sam asked simply.
"Cu, bone, bone!" Warren chuckled.
"You 'warned' me? What did you warn me, exactly? That during a battle, your Pikachu might fight its opponent? Strange as it sound, I'm not actually all that surprised. Oh, and it's technically against Pokémon league rules to deliberately come into direct physical contact with either Pokémon while they are still battling. But I'll let it slide this once." Cubone stood, wincing in pain. It was clear that both of these Pokemon were near to defeat - one more move could spell the end for either of them.
"Use Headbutt!" Warren ordered, "But go for the speedy approach, not power!" Cubone nodded, darting from spot to spot faster tan the eye could see. Pika growled as it tried to follow it, then started as it appeared right in front of him.
"Cubone!" it cheered, then thrust forwards with its head.
"Crap. Pika's basically through. I need him for that Poliwag...return." Sam said, returning his Pokémon quickly. "Now! Umbre!" Sam said. His Umbreon was ready to finish this Pokémon. "Now! Hit it! Pursuit!" Sam yelled. Umbre surrounded itself in the darkness once more. This time with a touch more. It charged, hitting Cubone, thus making him fly into the water...again. "Wow...my Pokémon like knocking your Cubone into the water..." Sam said.
"That's normally called psychosis," Warren replied snarkily, "Cubone, return. You did good." Who to send out next, though?
"Let's go, Gastly!" he shouted, and the gas stream flowed out of the Pokeball, clearly weak.
"Sorry mate," Warren said in an almost apologetic voice, "But I need another Curse." The ghost looked at him with disdain for a second, then nodded. Once again, the spear of gas. Once again, the screech of pain as Gastly threw itself into unconsciousness. But it worked. The gas streamed into Umbre's mouth, choking it slowly. Gastly simply hung in mid-air, an un-moving cloud of gas.
"Return, Gastly. Now, let's go, Poliwag!" The tadpole emerged, weakened from its previous battles, but not ready to go down just yet.
"Alright, Poliwag! Water Gun!"
"Like hell! Umbre use your Shadow Ball!" Sam yelled. Umbre couldn't take too long. But it could take this. Umbre's powerful attack shot right through, hitting Poliwag straight on the head. "That's gotta hurt. Oh well. Hit it! Iron Tail, but use it on the top of his head. Straight to the ground!" Sam yelled. Umbreon jumped and slammed its head down on Poliwag, who looked severely injured. It didn't look like it was in any condition to battle. Pika had done a lot of damage to it. Then here Umbre had nearly destroyed it here. Sam wasn't sure it could keep going at all.
"Poliwag? Hey, runt, are you okay?" Warren shouted. The tadpole definitely did not look okay. The Shadow Ball had been enough to KO it, but that Iron Tail had been over the top. Gasping in fear, Warren ran over to Poliwag and bent down next to it.
"Hey, come on, speak to me." Poliwag shifted a little.
"Poliiiiii..." it whimpered faintly. Warren frowned. The skin around its head where it had been hit was broken and there was a faint trickle of watery blood staining Poliwag's coat.
"Okay, don't worry, dude. You did real good out there. You need a nice long rest for now, though. Return." Warren stood up, reaching for his last Pokeball.
"Rattata, I need your help." The purple rat emerged, pumped up and ready. At least she would have the advantage of being fresh to the battle, whereas Umbre was cursed and Pika was hurt. Warren looked at the boy, disgusted.
"You know, about a week ago, I lost one of my best friends to some idiotic Grimer, who thought it would be fun to blow him up. I do not plan on losing another to some smart-mouth kid with his head so far up his ass that he's getting hairs in his mouth. So, you'd better be damn careful, kid because that could have ended a hell of a lot worse and if it had..." Warren left the threat hanging, then glanced at Rattata.
"Time to get to work. Use Quick Attack to get behind it, then Hyper Fang on its tail!" Screeching in mirth, the rodent sped forwards, shooting through Umbre's legs. Before it had time to react, Rattata leapt up, her teeth gnashing furiously.
"You...you think you know pain. You don't know half of it. You don't know how it feels to be completely helpless as your friends get pounded. You don't know how it feels to have your dreams all crushed within a few seconds. You don't KNOW how it feels to have one of your best friends struggle when you can't do anything. I'm sure your friend is in a better place now. But you think I would go so far as to DESTROY a bond?! YOU'RE INSANE! YOU DAMN RETARD! YOU THINK I WANT TO KILL THESE BONDS?! That's it! Umbre! Iron Tail and toss it across the ground! Then Pursuit!" Sam yelled. Umbre's tail started glowing, then it tossed the Pokémon across the ground, only to rush using its darkness, thus knocking the small rat into some brushes.
"In a better place?" Warren was incredulous, "IN A BLOODY BETTER PLACE? You go on about how I don't know pain, how I don't understand your 'suffering', but you aren't even listening, you bastard! One of my best friends was KILLED because of some petty hatred that had nothing to do with him! I was turned into a prisoner of the screwed up trainer who sent the Grimer, TWICE! So don't go on about how I don't KNOW! You don't KNOW ME, so STOP WITH THE BLOODY JUDGEMENTS!" Warren clenched his fists, literally shaking with anger. Nearby, Rattata crawled out of the bush, a little bruised, but mostly unhurt thanks to the soft landing.
"Quick Attack!" Warren bellowed and Rattata sped forwards so fast that Umbre couldn't dodge, instead being struck in the face.
"You. You don't know me at all. You think I'm just judging you. You're wrong. You really don't know me. I'm the only one I can trust. Me and my Pokémon. But no. You're wrong if you think I'm just judging you. I see a lot of what I used to be...in you. A very long time ago...I used to be just like you. Untrusting of everyone. But then...I made...friends. Like Umbre. My first Pokémon. My strongest Pokémon. My best friend. You're never going to defeat me. Now! Pursuit! Hit it with the strength it used on you and more!" Sam yelled. Pursuit was all Umbre's energy. In one attack. As Umbre charged, darkness covering it. Rattata hit the ground, skidding a touch. "Now! Follow up with Iron Tail!" Sam yelled as Umbre charged, slapping its opponent with its tail. Rattata skid, hitting the rocks behind it. It didn't look too hurt, but still very injured. "Ugh...I hate doing all this damage, but you give me very little choice..." Sam said. Very quietly.
"So if you aren't judging me, then what are you doing?" Warren snapped, "You keep going on about how I don't know anything about how bad life can be, but here's a newsflash, you aren't the only person suffering in the entire world! So fine, be pissed off at whatever you want to be pissed off at, because I don't know what it is and that's your business. But don't bloody tell me how I should feel and how I should think. That is MY business, not yours!" Rattata growled her assent and Warren grinned.
"Time for the rat to beat the cat!" he quipped, "Rattata, Hyper Fang on the tail!" The rodent charged, chomping down hard on Umbre's tail and making it squeal in agony. As it flicked its tail in pain, Rattata released her grip, sailing up into the air.
"Now, use Quick Attack!" Rattata peaked and spun over, facing downwards. Grinning, she aimed for Umbre's head and shot off like a bullet from a gun.
"You're seriously getting on my nerves. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KEEPS TALKING ABOUT HOW BAD LIFE CAN BE! I really don't give a damn about how you see it or how I do. But seriously? You don't know my true pain. My whole life was lived in a family of people who hate me. Instead, I ran. Far...far away. You don't know why your pain is so bad. And quite frankly, I seriously don't give a damn care. You haven't got my sympathy. But I'll tell you this. My name is Sam. Now. To finish this. Umbre. Side step. Then smash it." Sam said emotionlessly. Umbre quickly side stepped, as Rattata flew past it. Then it charged, smashing Rattata into the ground. It looked much more injured than it was before...
"WHY DON'T YOU BLOODY LISTEN?" Warren bellowed angrily. This arrogant kid was really getting on his nerves, "I just said, I don't care who pissed you off or why! I just said, stop judging me when you don't know me! I JUST SAID, MY EMOTIONS ARE MY BUSINESS SO STOP WHINING ON ABOUT HOW BAD YOUR LIFE IS BECAUSE I DON'T GIVE A FLYING AIPOM'S BUTT! JESUS BLOODY CHRIST!" Warren spat on the ground in front of him, disgusted.
"If you remember, this stupid fight started because you set your Gyarados on me after I complained because you ran into me! All of your Pokémon are either defeated or near to it anyway. Look at your Umbreon, for Pete's sake! You've been too busy preaching to me that you aren't even paying attention to whether or not it's hurt. With the curse and the bites, I'm amazed it's still standing...Rattata, buddy, how are you doing?" The purple rat growled maliciously, but Warren could tell it was hurting.
"Okay, use Quick Attack to get on its back, then Hyper Fang!" The rodent zoomed forwards, skidding behind Umbre and leaping onto its back before sinking its sharp fangs into the cat's neck.
Warren nodded impassively as Umbre shrieked in pain.
"When you're Pokémon are really in pain and in need of a caring trainer, maybe then you'll answer the call. Maybe."
That was the last straw. Sam ran up and punched this guy right in the face. Looked like it hurt, too. "Look. You can insult me. You can not care. You can even beat me up until I can't feel my body. But when you insult my Pokémon...you DIE. Umbre. Return. Good work. You're not done yet, I can tell, but I'm gonna need you later...instead, let's do it! Pika!" Sam yelled. Pika was out and ready. Quite calm now, too. "Look. I can tell. You're Pokémon...they're either mistreated or I'm an idiot. You give them very little love and compassion. Yet you ridicule me about mine. Instead, eat this! Pika, use Thundershock on Rattata! Now!" Sam yelled. Pika could obviously feel what Sam was feeling right now. It was charging up to shock the Rattata when Sam suddenly yelled, "STOP!" "Pika?" Pika asked, wondering why his trainer was acting like this. Sam slowly got down on the beach, rolled up into a ball and started sobbing like no one's business. "Look...this fighting. It's not how I want to do things. I feel as though I've been shoved into a world where no one gives a damn about anyone else. But I can't help feeling like I do. I don't WANT to hurt your friends and it kills me inside to see mine hurt. I've already left enough behind. I don't want to leave Umbre and Pika too. Please. I just want to end this. Don't make me fight any more. I won't hurt your precious partners. I just can't. Umbre's hurt and with how things have been going, I wouldn't be surprised if you sent out your Cubone for another round against Pika. I don't want to see them hurt. Please. Don't make me do this anymore..." Sam said, sobbing crazily. Pika walked back and cuddled up to Sam. "Look. I'm sorry I hurt your Pokémon. I didn't mean to get into a fight. Now. Can I leave or are you going to make me finish this battle?" Sam asked, fighting back another round of sobbing. Warren clutched his aching jaw as he looked at Sam, disgusted.
"You think I was the one who wants this fight? You attacked me, you idiot! You're the one threatening death! I mean, for god's sake, why don't you actually take your time and listen to what I'm saying before you spout some more generic crap about how much you love your Pokémon and how I'm clearly some monster who'd like to see them in pain! Believe me, it hurts me, to see you kicking seven shades of crap out of Cubone. But I keep going, because I know that regardless of how we feel at our lowest, this dream is for all of us! Do you really think that Rattata would even still be standing if she didn't want this? You say that my Pokémon get no love and compassion, but then why the hell are they fighting for me? Why the hell are we still friends?" Warren stepped forwards, going toe to toe with Sam as he slowly stood up.
"If you want to leave then be my guest. You said you were in a hurry, after all." Sneakily, Warren slipped his leg around the back of Sam's.
"And wherever you're going...have a nice trip! " Warren reached up and pushed Sam in the chest, hooking his leg back at the same time to throw Sam to the ground. Bending down, he shoved his face so close to his opponent's that he could see the pathetic tears glistening in his eyes.
"I'm going to leave now. Don't follow me. And trust me...if I ever meet you again, and you're still deliberately ignorant of the fact that I care for my friends...its not going to end well." Scowling, Warren stood and turned to leave.

The battle was 2 on 2, so Sean had to use his next Pokemon as ell as Tyron. While he was preparing to send out his, Sean was thinking about which Pokemon he will use yet. From his toughest which could easily win, or his smaller, less experienced Pokemon that need to get more into the battling spirit so they can level and grow time by time. There was only one Pokemon that Tyron could use for a battle like this one, so he got the PokeBall out. "Watch out, Sean. This will be where I win. Come out, Kadabra!" he threw the round PokeBall through the air in motion, then broke open the ball. Out came Kadabra, a strange looking Pokemon that was gold and brown, with a long gold moustache. There was a silver spoon that Kadabra was holding, this was Kadabra's instrument of Psychic power. Now Sean was expecting something, as Kadabra was a lot stronger looking than Mr. Mime, and Sean's Pokemon could have a little problem battling against it. However, against all odds Sean knew that the weaker Pokemon would end up the winner with a bit of work and strategy put into it, and this Pokemon that Sean was going to use was exactly the one to use, even if it was the weakest one on his team. "Fair enough. I choose you, Eevee!" Sean threw the PokeBall out of his pocket and to the ground, bursting out the white-coated Eevee. As other trainers would, Tyron was impressed that Eevee was shiny but he did know that shininess does not affect battle. "Slow and shininess wins the race. In a way." Sean tried to make himself feel more confident. "If only you were right." Tyron shook his head, but Sean disagreed.

Tyron could be right, as only one knock-out would not make Sean instantly win, he would have to defeat both of Tyron's Pokemon, and Kadabra didn't look so easy for a small Eevee to beat.
The comparison was, that Kadabra was a second form Pokemon that was a Psychic type with a whole lot of moves that could put Sean's Eevee in the red. As for Eevee, there was a lot to be done and was still not used to battling yet. This was a risky move Sean was making, as another one of his Pokemon would have been a better choice as Eevee was certainly not one of Sean's strongest. However, there was a good thing about Eevee, was that it could mix up a battle with its annoying moves, even if they would do no damage. Especially the one move that Sean used at the beginning of battles, that was a real annoyance to trainers who had plans. "Start off with Sand Attack!" this move is what caused so many victories for him, as it gives a bigger chance that the opponent's attacks would miss, therefore making his Eevee more harder to beat. Eevee started to get up on its legs, and aimed at Kadabra, who was staring at its silver spoon. Then, as Eevee shook small grains of sand about its mouth, Tyron could expect what was coming from now. The sand was then shot out of Eevee's mouth, and in a straight line towards Kadabra. This was going in the correct direction, and since Kadabra was too concentrated on its spoon rather than the battle, it could do nothing and was then struck by the Sand Attack. This was a real shock for Kadabra, so Kadabra could not see where or who it came from. Kadabra's eyesight was slightly blurred now, so Tyron had to do something about it.

The battle was starting off pretty much as it was when Horsea was in play, and Tyron wanted to change this and win. Unfortunately for him, this was going to be hard since Sean's Eevee was hasty and nimble, making it quite easy to dodge attacks, especially when Kadabra was exposed to Sand Attack causing its eyesight to blur. There was still things to be done, and one Sand Attack on Kadabra would not make all of its attacks miss, so Sean had to keep this in mind. There were a few moves that Kadabra could use for this situation, all of which would be greatly appropriate to be used, but he was going to use an unexpected strategy that would give Sean a bit of a shock. Kadabra's moves were strange, and not commanly seen in battle, so this move would be new to Sean and would confuse him. "This will be no problem. Kadabra, use Disable!" this move was worse than Sand Attack, as it would stop the usage of Eevee's last move, which was Sand Attack. After being hit by Eevee's Sand Attack, Kadabra was easy to respond and stopped looking at its spot and concentrating on Eevee. While there was no action going on, inside Kadabra's mind there were more than a lot of things going on. It was trying to focus on Eevee's powers, then suddenly, it made a little flash. The attack was over, and Sean didn't know what just happened, but Tyron knew. "Erm... what was that?" Sean was clueless at some attacks and flashes he was not sure of at all. "You'll see. You'll see." Tyron's eyes shortened as his plan was clearly working while Sean did not know at all.

Disable was a sneaky move that Sean didn't know of. The flash had been caused by Kadabra's strong force on Eevee's mind, who didn't feel a thing, but lost the ability to use its previously used move, in this case, Sand Attack. Although this would not make much a difference, Tyron was being on the safe side as if he used Sand Attack more than once then it would cause a certain miss for Kadabra. Meanwhile Sean knew nothing, he was not even planning on using it once more in the battle, so he was going to use a different move. There was not much of a decision to be made, since only 2 of the moves Eevee had would make the battle easier for him, and one he couldn't use. Instead, he was going to use the move that was Eevee's most used move, as it was the only one that does damage. "Even if I don't know what that was, this won't stop Eevee from winning! Use Tackle!" not the toughest move at all, and Tyron definetely knew that, yet it would be a good move if it was perfectly accurate and performed correctly. Eevee stood up and scratched one leg against the ground over and over as a sign that it was going to be a fast attack. Suddenly, Eevee dashed off through the stadium and over to Kadabra. Once again, Kadabra was not paying much attention, as its eyes were closed, trying to gain focus even though it was not needed at this moment. In the end, Eevee ended up taking a strong hit on Kadabra. This was not expected and Tyron had got more than he expected. The attack had made Kadabra star-struck as since it was a Psychic typed Pokemon, it was paying more attention on the mind rather than the opponent.

With the last attack done by Eevee and the first one doing damage, Sean was sticking to it. Whereas Tyron needed a new plan now in order to take back his position in the battle, the stronger one. This was going to be a tough thing to do, because Eevee was quite fiesty and knew when to suspect an attack coming, but this did not mean that Eevee could avoid every attack that comes. Tackle was Eevee's only attack move, and it wasn't very strong compared to any of Kadabra's moves, so Tyron was going to take advantage of some of the moves that Sean would not predict at all. When Sean looked at Kadabra, he was expecting only Psychic attacks, but Tyron was going to prove him wrong right now with a move that Sean would not guess what it is. "Let's see if you can top this one. Kadabra, use Kinesis!" it did no damage, but it was just as bad as Eevee's Sand Attack, because like Sand Attack it would decrease Eevee's accuracy by accessing the mind via Kadabra's magic spoon. Kadabra immediately started to focus really hard on its silver spoon, as it then started to glow in a flourescent pink colour. Sean didn't know what was going to happen but it didn't sound good so he got Eevee started to backfire that attack. "Eevee, quickly use Tackle!" Kadabra's spoon was bending, meaning that Eevee's mind was being messed with, but Eevee still started to prepare a charge towards Kadabra. Its soft, white feet brushed the tiles, before then taking off on all four legs. A fast attack it was, and while Kadabra was still not completed in Kinesis, Eevee was almost there and then took one leap on Kadabra, bashing its small head on Kadabra's head. Tyron was underestimating Eevee now as the battle was going on. "I gotta admit, Sean, that Eevee you've raised up very well." it was a good compliment coming from him, but it would only mean that he was going to try harder.

There was so much effort in this battle given out by both trainers, especially Sean who's Eevee was not very high-levelled compared to Tyron's Kadabra. Despite his efforts to combat Eevee's moves, there was not much that Eevee could not handle from Kadabra, therefore making it more than a challenge to battle against. This defined how big things do come in small packages. Tyron was still determined to make the battle go right his way, but it was not as easy as it seemed, since Eevee had used Sand Attack to reduce Kadabra's ability to see well. While this was all well and good, Tyron would not let it stand in his way and he believed that attacks could hit well when they really focus. Sean's Eevee might not have been as focussed as Kadabra, but it was certainly stealthful enough to avoid upcoming attacks dealt by Kadabra, and Eevee was sneaky enough to perform an attack well aginst a big foe, Sean was going to keep going this way as it would be the only way he could go to get somewhere in the battle. "Now again, Eevee, use Tackle!" while being the only attack move by Eevee, it could possibly still miss, therefore causing a waste of a move. Kadabra's eyes were closed, as it was meditating to use up its strong mind power to enhance its further attacks. This was a great chance for Eevee to set off, and just after preparing to take a sprint, it just did. While Eevee was progressing through the attack, it was travelling even faster, shiny spots started to sparkle in the shadow of Eevee, which looked amazing. Since Kadabra was no on the ball, Eevee pursuited Kadabra while it was not expecting anything and then turned things around for Tyron. It was now officially serious for him, as he did not want his highest Pokemon to lose to Sean's lowest Pokemon.

Now that Eevee had made three great attacks, Tyron had seen enough and had to do something about it now or never. This time, he was going to be serious with what he cooses rather than going for a plan that would end up backfiring on himself. In all his losses today, this would officially be his worst if he lost to a small Eevee, several levels below Kadabra. Just like Eevee, Kadabra only knew one attacking move and other moves would only do so little. However, it was quite predictable to be used as it was the most predictable Psychic type move. It would still be good for Tyron to use any other move KAdabra would have, because they would all get him closer to winning, one move Sean was hoping Kadabra would not use again in the battle. Tyron's decision made, because the battle was going pear-shaped for him. "Hate to do this to you Sean, but you've driven me to this point. Kadabra, use Confusion!" there was a terrible side effect to confusion if it was perfectly used, and Sean would not be able to cope if such happened. Yet this did not really occur to him yet, as he remembered the Sand Attack Eevee had used early on in the battle. Kadabra quickly responded this time, and started to close its eyes and concentrate. Eevee was not going to do anything except sit there, because it didn't look like anything was happening, just then Kadabra glew purple. Now Eevee could see what was coming as a transparent, clear wave was flowing at a fast pace. Eevee did not know what was going on, and could not do anything. When the wave finally reached Eevee's point, Eevee was hit on the inside of its mind with the psychic power. This was tremendously painful, more than just a headache for Eevee as afterwards, not just the attack had done so much damage to Eevee's delicate brain, but had also left the effect which Sean had been praying to not have, Confusion.

That Confusion attack had now made things completely great in Tyron's favour, as it could not have gone any better. Eevee was standing up on its legs, but had a strange smirk on its face and stumbling on its legs, meaning that things were going to change in the battle now for the worse for Sean. Any attack done now could go completely wrong, and could go anywhere but Sean had complete faith in Eevee as he did in all the previous battles against other trainers. Meanwhile, Tyron was not far off also. Just one attack by him had caused a big problem for Sean, because Confusion is a serious problem to be dealt with. There was only one option for Sean now, he could not do anything else but attack until he would win, even if it was incredibley likely to miss and backfire. "This will work. I know it will. Eevee, use Tackle! I know you can do it!" he was crossing his fingers now, as the battle could go any way if Eevee would miss and Kadabra could use the same move again. "Trust me Sean, it's not going to be easy." Tyron was all of a sudden smiling as he knew that sunch a pint-sized Pokemon like Eevee could not beat a Kadabra. Eevee could hear, and then started to charge up its legs, gathering as much speed as it could possibly get. Unfortunately, Eevee was shivering and almost fell to the ground in confusion, but it eventually did get going. While it was charging, Eevee was heading really off course rather than heading towards Kadabra. This was bad, as Eevee could not know where Kadabra is. But because Eevee did not know where Kadabra was, nothing could be done about it. Eevee took one leap up towards a white-tiled wall which did really hurt its head, because the tiles were re-enforced causing Eevee to damage itself. Things were definetley turning out worse now for Sean, and it was nearing the end for the battle.

Despite Eevee's confusion, things were not exactly going well for Kadabra either. Three Tackled used before were incredibley harmful, especially when in shock, meaning that both Pokemon were in a bad zone now. If Tyron would lose to Sean right about now, his day would be officially over in the wrong way, though if Sean would win, it would end in the best way it could end, him having another badge. Kadabra was panting so loudly, as several claw mars were apearing on its face and body. As for Eevee, only its head had to be looked at to know things were not going right for Sean. Its eyes were tearful, its mouth was smirking when there was nothing to be happy about and it could barely stand up correctly. In Tyron's view, he was nearly there, in Sean's view, he was nearly there. There still had to be an attack done to judge who was going to win, and Tyron had already took that oppurtunity. "And again, use Confusion!" there was a slight chance that due to Sand Attack, it could perhaps miss, but Sean didn't know that Confusion was normally based on the mind power rather than visual power, so it would pretty much not work out that way. While strugging, Kadabra then settled down and started to force its mind power towards Eevee's mind, like enough damage had not been done yet. Then when Kadabra had got complete control, another wave of power was let out into the air. The flow of the wave was not as fast as last time, since Kadabra was only stuggling even more by the minute. Eevee could not sense a thing from the psychic wave, only slight twiches of noise. Then finally, the wave had ended up crashing into Eevee's system once more. The attack had not knocked Eevee out, but had made it make a slight scream of noise. This frightened Sean.

Unbelievably for Tyron, Eevee was still standing up and was ready to do more, but not much more could be done now. Eevee was still confused, as its mind was damaged quite a bit. Sean knew that now the only way is up and he had to do something, it was very close for him around the beginning of the battle, now things have turned around. If Kadabra were to make one more attack on Eevee, then it would be a certain knockout. Sean hesitated to do anything, as he had no potions, no heals, no nothing, just the ability to command an attack. So, he had to think really carefully and totally believe in Eevee. Not as he did in the other times in the battle, because he did not want to start the Gym battle all over again, but he had to hope deep down. "Come on Eevee. I know you can find Kadabra in there, deny the confusion inside your head. Please." he was crossing his fingers on one hand, and made a fist with the other. "Use Tackle!!" he then gave out the last command to Eevee, while Tyron was standing there watching as he knew that Confusion was hard to beat and could not be just easily controlled. Kadabra was making slow breaths now, as it was not calming down wither since the marks on Kadabra were red and stinging on the inside and outside. The pain was too much to handle, and it was almost down now. Only just making notice of the command, Eevee jumped up onto all four legs, and brushing its leg against the ground faster than ever as it had heard Sean's instruction. Then, while nothing was left to do, Eevee took off. It was closing its eyes, taking down and out all of its confusion from the mind and then opening its eyes again, finally seeing Kadabra right in front of it. "Good! Keep going!" Sean was encouraging Eevee to keep going, as Eevee's teeth were grinding with more stress. Then, as Eevee was just there, right infront of Kadabra, a strong charge was forced on Kadabra's body. This was stronger than all the other attacks done by Eevee, and had costed Kadabra's activity. Kadabra fell to the ground in pain, and had spiralled eyes. After all the stress and unfortunate luck, Sean had prevailled in the end.

Sean was jaw-dropped as he finally had won in the end after all he had been through in this battle, but it was nothing compared to Tyron's emotion. He could barely talk. "W-Wow. I am impressed Sean. This shows not just a winner, but a believer in his Pokemon. This shows your complete faith in your little Eevee and I'd be really pleased to award you with your Marsh Badge." Tyron had accepted that he had lost the battle, and got a small, pink love heart-shaped badge from his pocket, then handing it over to Sean. "Great! This is amazing. What a day it's been for me!" Sean was tearful in his eyes, and Eevee was walking, while limping over to Sean in happiness. "Look, Eevee. We actually did it. I'm so proud of you for all your work in this battle." although Eevee was almost down and out now, Sean was entirely pleased with his little, shiny Eevee who then got enough energy to smile back towards him. "Now come back in." Sean got his PokeBall out and retreated Eevee back inside. Tyron then opened the door, holding it to let Sean outside. "We're closing now, I guess you'd better go." he was holding the door tight, as Sean had walked out shile shaking in happiness. Tyron had shut the door, then let the rail go down to show that the Gym was closed for the night. The moon was out, and the sky was a dark blue. This was Sean's ending to the day as he headed to the Pokemon Center.

The sky was a tonal black and blue, it was beautiful as the colours were both blending in with each other. It made Sean feel very comfortable and content, as it was a quiet night and there was not as much noise as a regular city. This was his kind of place, lots of shops, restaurants, two gyms and it was so peaceful. Then Sean turned to his silver and blue watch, with the big hand on the 6 and small hand inbetween 9 and 10. If Sean wanted to have a great day in Celadon tomorrow, then he woulod have to get a move on walking back to the Pokemon Center. There were very little people walking down the streets of Saffron, Sean could hear his footsteps like it was a silent city compared to all the commotion in the daytime. Apart from the moon, the city was also lit by the street lights, all lined up beside the walking paths, lighting the street a bright golden yellow. When Sean turned one corner onto another street, he was back on the street to the Pokemon Center, which was his obvious destination for the night. Suddenly, as he was midway there, a teenage boy came running out to the west, the opposite side of the street from Sean. What this was, Sean didn't know but he was going to keep out of it since it was none of his business. It could have been a theif, or just an angry person who was in a row, getting emotially distressed and ended up running away. As soon as he kept walking, he had reached the Pokemon Center, and had then walked inside.

There was not much of a scene going on, even after the mysterious person had ran out of the Pokemon Center. Only one thing was going on, there was a girl with long brown hear, a blue headband and a purple bracelet who was crying with her hands placed all over her face. This was the same girl who he had befriended outside of the Pokemon Center, Natasha. Atleast, that's what Sean had thought. He had first of all went to the desk, and asked Nurse Joy for a favour as usual. "Hey Nurse. Please can I have my Pokemon back in full condition please?" he was sounding happy still from having won the last badge he needed, but was wondering what was wrong with Natasha. Nurse Joy nodded with a smile on ehr face as usual, and had took Sean's PokeBalls into the healing room to get them back to normal. The girl lifted her head up, there was black mascara around her eyes and nice blue eyes. This was Natasha, as Sean totally recognised her again. She noticed him, and tried to make a smile to make herself better, but it wasn't working. Sean sat down next to her on the red, leather bench and got a tissue out of his pocket. "Looks like you need this." she nodded, smiled slightly and wiped her eyes and nose, calming herself down. "Thank you. You didn't have to." she was feeling a little bit better now, but still making a few sobbs in slight depression. "Natasha. It's Sean, remember the guy you saw out of the Pokemon Center?" he was making sure it was her, she relied with a nodd. "So, what's wrong? Looks like something's gone on here." he wanted an explanation of why she was so unhappy, and she sighed and explained what exactly was wrong. "I-I got dumped! My boyfriend just ran out after we had an argument. I was just telling him how I used one of his PokeBalls to capture this Pokemon in the wild, and he totally dismissed me!" she was starting to let tears rickle down her face, but Sean understood her well. "Oh man. What a shame. I'm really sorry for you. Don't worry, there'll be someone else." Sean was convincing her on how she could do better, and that she would be better soon and over him. Natasha turned away and got up. "I need some water." she went into the waiting room, where there was a sink inside. Sean really was sad for Natasha, as it would be hard to lose someone like that. In time, Nurse Joy had came out of the healing room and had given Sean his five Pokemon back. "Thanks Nurse." he thanked her, before she went back to the desk.

While Sean was waiting for Natasha to come back out, Sean remembered the Fire Stone he had got from Danny after the battle in the Evolution Brothers Dojo. It was in his pocket, he took it out and looked it around. It was a rock, which was glossy and smooth, covered in a flame colour, flowing red and orange. Then he was thinking about whether to evolve his Growlithe; his most powerful, or the shiny Eevee; the most ready to evolve. The choice was a tough one, as these stones were pretty rare and don't grow on trees, so he could either save it or use it now. Of course, Eevee was too low-levelled to learn any new moves and to evolve it to Flareon now would be a good decision so it could be more powerful. Whereas if he evolved Growlithe, it would not be able to learn any more moves except one. Then Sean was thinking to himself what a shiny Flareon would look like, act like, and how powerful it actually would be. Now the choice was a difficult one, but eventually he had to make it. Interrupting his thoughts, Natasha had came out, looking better than ever. "Aaah. That's much better. Thanks for all the support Sean." there was a smile in her face in no time, but then she noticed that Frie Stone in Sean's hands. "Fire stone?" she was intrigued by the Fire Stone that Sean was examining. Sean nodded, "Yep. Using it on one of my Pokemon. I think I've made up my mind now on who I'm going to use it on." he stopped examining the Fire Stone and held it in a grip with one hand. "Goody, let's see." she sat down on the bench, then putting her hands on her knees. Sean got the Pokeball out and pushed the button on the middle, opening up the shiny Eevee. Once it came out, Natasha gasped, "Wow, a shiny Eevee? I had an Eevee once but it's evolved now. I take it you like Flareon?" she was very suprised to see a shiny Eevee, Sean was proud but he wanted her to keep it down. "Yes. I can't wait to see it in shiny. Let's do this. Are you ready, Eevee?" he was shaking slightly, but he was very excited to see what was about to happen. Eevee replied with an "Ee." signalling "Yes." and nodded its head with a smile. "This is gunna be cool. I can't wait to see it." Natasha was also turning excited, as seeing Pokemon evolve was fun to her too. Sean was ready to do this, so he attached the stone of Fire to Eevee's fur, and...

@I,Scream - Sorry I've been really busy. Exams and stuff :( So this will be quick.

Eevee was glowing so brightly, that he lit up the entire street. Eevee began growing and changing shape. Eevee's tail became bushier, and fur began to grown around his neck. As the evolution completed, the light slowly began to dim....

It was the morning of Kairi's 12th Birthday. She would be having her Birthday party today and be getting her first Pokemon tomorrow. Kairi got out of bed yawning. She went downstairs in her pajamas. "Good morning mom," she said. She reached down and petted her mother's Glameow. It purred as she rubbed it.

"Happy Birthday Kairi," Delia grinned at her daughter,"Even though your party's not until this afternoon I thought I'd go ahead and give you this," she said handing her daughter a little wrapped up package.

"Thanks mom," Kairi said opening it up. Inside was a little thing that looked like a pink watch or something,"What is this a watch?"

"It's a Poketch dear. I ordered it from a Company in Sinnoh that makes them. It has everything you need in it, a map of every region, a Phone, the time and a navigator," her mother told her.

"Wow thanks! I've heard of the Sinnoh Region but never been there myself," Kairi said as she slipped on the Poketch on her wrist,"But I'll have to go someday, maybe while I'm on my training journey."

"You should dear. Sinnoh's a very beautiful place. But it is very far away from Kanto dear," her mother explained to her.

"Oh it's ok mom I'll be find. I also heard there is a Battle Frontier in Kanto. Maybe after I become a Master I can challenge the Frontier Brains," Kairi said, fire in her eyes, at the thought of collecting the Frontier symbols.

"Your getting way ahead of yourself dear," her mother told her,"Here have some oatmeal." She handed Kairi a bowl of Oatmeal that was already cooked. Kairi sit down at the table and ate her breakfast. After she was done she went outside to work in her garden some. Her flowers were starting to get very big now.

Kairi's sun flowers were about as tall as her now,"Hmm, maybe I'll start out with a grass type Pokemon to help me care for my garden," Kairi grinned. Just then a Diglett popped it's head out of the ground. It was messing around with her garden,"Hey! Get away from there!" Kairi screamed at the Diglett.

The Diglett just grinned,"Diglett!" It said popping back into the hole as Kairi reached out her hand to grab it. The Diglett started digging in her flower bed,"Hey! Stop that!" Kairi screamed. She went inside and got the bug spray and sprayed it on Diglett.

"Diglett!" It screamed in anger. It decided to leave and go mess up someone else's garden. So it left,"Thank goodness none of my flowers were ruined," Kairi sighed. After caring for her garden she went back inside the house. She helped her mother get things ready for her party.

That evening all of Kairi's friends came over for her party. Kairi got a lot of nice things from her friends. At the end of the day, Kairi put her presents away and went to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a big day for her. So she went to bed early that night. She wanted to be prepared for it.

That night Kairi dreamed about the Pokemon League and getting all the Badges. She also dreamed of entering the Battle Frontier and becoming a Master Brain. Kairi started talking in her sleep,"I wanna be the very best." She said.

~*~*~*

The next morning Kairi got up out of bed. Her hair was a big mess. She went and got ready. She brushed her hair. Kairi had to muse her hair it was so bad,"I hate messy hair," Kairi complained as she fixed her hair. She then grabbed her cap on the way downstairs.

Kairi packed her bag with everything she'd need while on her journey,"Well I'm leaving now mom, good bye," Kairi waved to Delia as she walked outside. She took a nice breath of fresh air,"It's such a beautiful morning." Kairi grinned. She then walked over to Professor Maple's lab and knocked on the door. The lab was just right next door to her house. Kairi then stood there waiting for an answer.

A lab assistant answered the door letting Kairi in,"Hello is Professor Maple in?" Kairi asked as she walked inside.

"Yes she is. She's been expecting you," the assistant led Kairi to the main room. The Professor was sitting on a chair. A Oddish was sitting on her lap. "Is that the only Pokemon you have left Professor?" Kairi asked as she noticed the Oddish.

"Yes, I'm afaird so Kairi. All the other trainers already got there Pokemon this morning," Professor Maple informed her.

"But I heard you had a Pikachu here. Don't you still have it?" Kairi asked getting her hopes up. Pikachu had always been her favorite Pokemon. It was the one she had picked from the list.

"No sorry Kairi. The Pikachu is gone. But there are tons of them in Viridan Forest. Maybe you can catch one there. Now here is Oddish. Be careful, she's a little shy around new people," the Professor said handing Oddish to Kairi.

"Hi there," Kairi said to the Oddish. It blushed a little bit,"I'm Kairi. Take as much time as you like to get used to me. I know what might help. How about a nickname? Let's see you smell nice like a flower and...." Kairi grabbed a Pokedex before it could be offered to her and looked up Oddish's final evolutions,"And your final forms have flowers on there heads that look like roses. That's it! How about Rose?"

The Oddish grinned happily. It was decided then. The Oddish's name would be Rose. Professor Maple then handed Kairi five PokeBalls since she had already grabbed the Pokedex. She then pushed Kairi out the door saying she was very busy. Kairi stood outside confused as she still held Rose in her arms.

Kairi sit Rose on the ground,"Well let's get going Rose," Kairi said. Rose followed Kairi out to Route 1. Just as they were entering Route 1 they spotted a Ratatta eating a berry. They decided to sneak up on to the Ratatta while it was eating,"Rose use Acid," Kairi whispered to her Oddish.

Rose nodded and sneaked up behind Ratatta catching the Pokemon off guard and spitting out Acid at it. "Ratatta!" The Ratatta screamed in pain as it was poisoned by the Acid. It was also pretty mad as well for having been interuded while it was eating. It used a Tackle attack on Rose. Rose dodged the attack. Ratatta then came back with a Quick Attack before Kairi could even call out another attack for Rose.

Kairi checked her Pokedex. It said that Quick Attack will always hit first no matter what,"Ok! Rose use Absorb!" Kairi called out. Her Oddish used Absorb on Ratatta and got some of her HP back. "Good going Rose," Kairi cheered her Pokemon on.

The poison was still sapping away at Ratatta's HP all the while the battle was going on. Ratatta then used Quick Attack again. This time it was a cirtial hit on Rose,"Rose!" Kairi screamed, as her Pokemon's HP started running low,"Use Sweet Scent!"

Rose nodded and used Sweet Scent lowing the Ratatta's rate of hits. It tried to use Quick Attack again but missed as it instead hit a tree. Rose and Kairi stood there laughing at the Ratatta. It got mad. No one laughs at it and gets away with it.

While they both waited for the Ratatta to make a comeback, Rose walked over and ate the Ratatta's berry, which turned out to be an Oran Berry. Rose got all her HP back that way. Now the Ratatta was pissed off big time. First they attack it now they steal it's food. Ratatta would make them pay now.

Ratatta ran at Rose using Tackle attack. "Rose dodge," Kairi called. Rose jumped out of the way,"Now finish it off with another Absorb," Kairi said as she noticed the Ratatta getting pretty weak from the poison. Rose used Absorb one more time and the Ratatta fainted. Kairi then took out an empty PokeBall and threw it at the Ratatta hoping for a catch. She watched the fainted form of Ratatta being sucked up inside the ball in a flash of red light. Kairi and Rose then watched the PokeBall shake.

When the evolution had stopped, Sean and Natasha had dropped their jaws in amazement. The new evolution of Eevee had a busier tail, neck and head hair. And to top it all off, it was golden. Sean knew which Pokemon this was, as did Natasha, a Flareon. "Wow! You look great, Flareon! Something tells me you're going to be way better in this form!" Sean's grin was long, his fresh white teeth were glowing. Before Sean stroked Flareon, Natasha began to warn him not to. "Erm... Sean, don't stroke it." she placed her hand on his arm to stop him for his safety, but Sean couldn't understand why. "Trust me. Flareon can not be stroked, your hand would be scorched if you tried to." it didn't look like Natasha would know this sort of stuff, but she did and Sean was quite impressed with her knowledge of the Pokemon which Sean had considered. Instead, Flareon gave a happy look back to him, its eyelids closed as its smile formed, and Flareon had leapt up beside Sean on the bench. After seeing Sean's Flareon, Natasha was going to show Sean her evolution of Eevee. "Hey Sean, wanna see my Eevee's evolution?" when she said this, Sean felt like it since after seeing one evoltuion of Eevee, it would be nice of him to see the rest. "Okay. Let's see." he was enthusiastic to see what another Eevee evolution form looked like, and which one it would be. Natasha got a PokeBall from her pocket, and then pushed the white button in the middle. Out came a pinkish-lilac cat with 2 long tails. "Wow. That's really cute." Sean complimented the Pokemon, Flareon was staring at it with an unsure look. "Thanks. It's my Espeon. The Psychic evolution of Eevee. You should see it battle sometime." she described her Espeon, Sean was very intrigued at how it looked and how Flareon reacted to it. "Well, I guess you better come back in." Sean got the PokeBall out and retreated his shiny Flareon back inside by pressing the button. "You too." Natasha did the same with her Espeon.

"Wow... look at that moon. It's big, bright and is totally lighting up the sky. How great..." Natasha looked out of the window to see the sky, Sean also took a look as he was interested. "Yes, it is. This place is amazing. Both in the day and night. I wonder how Celadon will be." Sean also commented, when Natasha just realized something. "Oh no. I totally forgot about that, we should get to bed. I wanna wake up bright and breezey for going to Celadon. It's gunna be a very busy day for me." she got up from the bench, then hooked the arms of her bag around her shoulder. Sean also followed, as he wanted to wake up the same way. "I'm in also." they both walked into the cabin room. There were two beds in one of the rooms, so Natasha insisted if they wanted to both wake up in Celadon the same way. "Erm.. I'll sleep in my clothes." Sean felt so tired, he couldn't be bothered getting dressed. Natasha giggled, "Haha. Me too, these can practically be pjamas!" they both smiled, and then lay down in their beds. Once they turned the lamp off, they shut their eyes. Before they fell asleep, Sean asked one question. "Natasha?" he quietly spoke. "Hmm?" she replied, sounding tired. "Tomorrow, we should battle. We could be great friends, ya know and we should check out each other's Pokemon." Natasha was not expecting this kind of conversation, but she made a posotive response. "Of course. It'd be great to see how your Pokemon are too. Well, good night." Natasha shut her eyes again, and Sean had ended the conversation to go to sleep. "Alright. 'Night."

@Konekodemon - Nice post, but Oddish doesn't learn acid until level 9. Don't worry about editing it this time, but just avoid using it again until Oddish levels up. Anyway it was a good battle, so...

Congratulations Kairi caught a Level 3 Rattata (I took a level off for the use of Acid, so yeah...)

@I,Scream - Nice post, can't wait to see Seans battle with Natasha :)

slls81: It was on there when I typed yesterday. So if the battle's good enough for it to be level 4 I think you should make it level 4, and not punish me for using an attack that was on the list when I posted.

Kairi picked up Ratatta's ball and continued on her way. When she was almost in Viridan City another Ratatta jumped out. This one was the mate of the one Kairi had caught and it wasn't very happy about having it's mate taken from it.

The Ratatta attacked Kairi,"Hey! What are you so mad about!?" Kairi demanded. She rubbed her sore side from where the Ratatta had attacked her,"Oddish! Oddish!" Rose demanded. She was mad that this Ratatta had attacked her trainer,"Rose use Absorb!" Kairi called. Rose sucked away some of the Ratatta's energy. The Ratatta screamed painfully.

It used Quick Attack on the unexpecting Oddish, knocking her backwards. It seemed this Ratatta was much stronger then the last one. "Use Sweet Scent!" Kairi called out. "Oddish!" Rose screamed releasing a bound of scents from it's body. It smelled very nice like the scent of a flower. Kairi closed her eyes taking in the refreshing smell as the Ratatta's evasiveness fell.

The Ratatta then jumped at Rose bitting onto one of the leafs on it's head and wouldn't let go,"Hey! Let go of Rose!" Kairi screamed. She watched as Rose ran around in a circle screaming in pain trying to shake the Ratatta off of her,"Oddish!!!!"

Rose pretty soon got the Ratatta to let go, but she had lost a lot of HP in doing so,"Rose, are you ok? Can you still keep on battling?" Kairi asked her Oddish. She grinned,"Oddish!"

But before Kairi could call out an attack the Ratatta used Quick Attack again. This time though it missed,"Alright! Rose use another Absorb attack to get some HP back," Kairi told her. Rose used Absorb again and got some HP back. Kairi then told her to use Absorb until the Ratatta fainted. Which she did. The Ratatta had, had enough and fainted to the ground.

Kairi cheered for Rose, and deciding just to leave the Ratatta there since she already caught one she left with Rose following right behind her. They both then arrived in Viridan City.

Kairi and Rose went into Viridan City. There first stop was the Pokemon Center,"Nurse Joy can you heal my Oddish and my Ratatta please?" She asked her. "Sure I can," Nurse Joy smiled. She took Kairi's Pokemon to the back to heal them. It would be about half an hour. So Kairi decided to go to the Market to buy some things. Kairi picked out the items she wanted and paid for them. She got some PokeBalls, Potions, Antidotes and Paralyze Heals. She stocked up on a lot of items in the shop. She figured she'd need those items in Viridan Forest, if she was still going to try to find a Pikachu. She heard those things can be quite a hand full. Plus there still quite a hand full most of the time even after you catch them. 'Hmm, maybe I'll catch two Pikachu. A male and a female.' Kairi thought, not realizing that, that may be impossible as one was hard enough to run into but running into two at once with one being male and the other female, dream on. Kairi thought about all of this as she went back to the Pokemon Center, bag of stuff in hand. She got her Pokemon and then decided to pay a trip to the Pokemon School to learn something about types. They welcomed Kairi in and she took a seat. She learnt that electric types like Pikachu are very weak against grass and rock type Pokemon,"Too bad I don't have a Rock type Pokemon, and you don't know any grass attacks yet Rose. Oh well guess I could train you until you do know a grass attack but that could take weeks. Maybe Professor Maple can give me a grass TM. I'll call her up and ask her." Kairi went outside and used her Poketch and called up Professor Maple on the phone,"Hi, Professor, me and Rose are already in Viridan City. I heard that Pikachu are weak against grass attacks but Rose won't learn any grass attacks for a long time now. So, I was wondering if you had any grass TMs laiding around anywhere that you could send to me. Can you Professor?" Kairi asked her, getting her hopes up for a TM to teach Rose a good grass attack.
