Psyduck gulped down hard, and Vitor could swear he could hear the two Oran Berries fall on his stomach with a thud. But now wasn't the time to worry about trivial things like that, there were… bigger problems at hand.
"Arrr… so what ye say, eh matey?" The man asked as he approached Vitor, his hand extended towards his Pokémon and his palm facing towards the sky as if expecting Vitor to just give it up. The man was probably in his early twenties, and wore blue pants with white circle patterns on the sides. A white and black striped short-sleeved shirt, and a blue bandana with what seemed to be a Jolly Roger depicted on it in white.
"Like hell I will!" Vitor yelled at the guy defiantly. He wasn't scared, in fact, if it came down to it, he'd just have to beat this clown up… right? "Damn, Psyduck use Scratch! Put this guy out of commission!"
The Pokémon obeyed. With something in-between being a leap and a skip, Psyduck swung his right arm, which seemed to have been healed after eating those Oran Berries, at the guy who barely had time to get his hand out of harm's way.
"Bloody scallywag!" the guy yelled as he jumped back making some space between them. "I'll show ya'! Go Carvahna!"
"Carvahna!" a tough looking, red and blue… and yellow fish-like Pokémon cried as it was sent out for battle. On one hand, Vitor felt bad for it, fish Pokémon should stay in water, where they belong, he thought. On the other hand, the Carvahna looked angrily both at him and at his Pokémon, and was very tough and at-home on the ground.
"That looks like a tough one." Vitor thought as he took out his Pokédex to scan the Pokémon.
"image removed"~ Carvahna, the Savage Pokémon. If anything invades Carvahna's territory, it will swarm and tear at the intruder with its pointed fangs. On its own, however, this Pokémon turns suddenly timid. ~
"Nice! That means that the Pokémon MUST be weak by itself, right?" Vitor thought relieved as he continued to look on to the fearsome Pokémon. If anything, at this point he was more scared that the intimidating Pokémon would frighten Psyduck during the battle, and cause him to psyche himself out. "You ready Psyduck?"
"Psy!"
Honestly, Vitor had expected a scared reply from his Pokémon, but his convincing tone of voice, and determined eyes told a completely different story. Psyduck hadn't been with him for a long time yet, but he knew that he liked the kid, and there was no way it would rather be owned by a clown dressed in blue. Vitor chuckled. "Good."
He still couldn't believe this guy. He had come out of nowhere, to try and take his Pokémon?! Not to mention what he did to poor Brent when striking him aside. By the way, where WAS that kid? Vitor looked over to the place where the Bug Catcher had fallen, but now he was nowhere in sight. "Bug Catchers." He grunted and spat to the side.
"I be damned the day an opportunity like this arises and I fail my duties as a member o' Team Aqua!" The grunt yelled, and proceeded to give the first command: "Carvahna! Go and Bite that damn thing!"
The fish-like Pokémon grunted as it proceeded to
bounce towards Vitor's Pokémon. "No way José! Psyduck, Scratch it away!"
"Psy!" his Pokémon yelled as it placed a perfectly well timed Scratch across his opponent's face. However, as the Carvahna rolled across the ground in pain, Psyduck whimpered, and stumbled towards his trainer, hand raised and claws dull.
"What the…?" the kid said as he inspected his Pokémon.
"Yo ho ho!" he heard the grunt laugh. "That be me darling's special ability ye see? Members o' the Carvahna family ha'e 'ery Rough Skin, and ye can see the result o' a simple physical assault!"
"Which means that my only means of attack will only affect me as well…" Vitor thought worried upon the realization of his dilemma. "Damn."
"Damn is right me lad! Now how 'bout ye stop being so resisting and just hand it o'er? He said chuckling, and once again holding his hand out to Vitor.
However, the kid's defiance wasn't as limited as the grunt had thought. "I already told you man. No can do… me and Psyduck are in it together, ye see?" he mocked the man in blue. "Right Psy?"
"Duck!" his Pokémon affirmed, somewhat happy to be called something other than Psyduck all the time.
Biting hard on his lower lip, the Team Aqua member's anger finally boiled: "Let's teach this thing, Carvahna, you know what to do… Bite! Kill that thing for all I care!"
But Vitor retorted. "Psyduck! Don't be scared by what he says, just counter the Carvahna with a Scratch!"
"Psy!" his Pokémon cried as he attacked the charging Pokémon with his claws. "Psy!" the Pokémon cried as the first scratched hit the mark. "Duck!" he cried again as the second hit the Carvahna right across the face, but suddenly, the cry was more painful-sounding as the fish finally caught the Psyduck's arm with a powerful Bite. "PSYYYYDUUUUCKK!!!"
"Damn!" Vitor thought. He had seen this before, Psyduck hadn't proven very strong against physical damage, and the way that the Pokémon had suddenly calmed down was reminiscing of his first fight against that Growlithe. "Come on Psyduck, you can do it!"
Suddenly however, Psyduck began to glow once more. The aura was much more noticeable than before, and much stronger than it had been before, and it looked as if blue flames were surrounding Psyduck. "Shiver me timbers!" the member from Team Aqua yelped upon noticing this. "What in the seven seas be happenin'!"
"Psyduck, do it NOW!!!" Vitor yelled noticing a turning of the tide, and in unison with his order, Psyduck opened up his mouth, and sent a spurt of water jetting towards his aggressor, sending him flying backwards.
The Carvahna hurt as it was, gritted its sharp teeth, and struggled up from its side. However, it hadn't seen the best of Psyduck, who simply shot a second spurt, way stronger than the first, and pushed the fish Pokémon against a tree, where the Water Gun continued to squish it until Carvahna couldn't take it no more.
"Va… Na…" it sighed as it slipped into unconsciousness.
"Damn landlubber you'll pay!" the Team Aqua grunt yelled as he recalled his Pokémon. "Now I be placin' the black spot upon ye! No one crosses Team Aqua and hopes to get out unscathed! Yo ho ho ho!" And upon saying what he needed to say he threw a Smoke Ball to the floor and made his escape.
The forest was completely dark now, and Vitor recalled his exhausted Pokémon. "Psyduck come back. We need to get out of here."
"The black spot, huh?"
