What are some generation I rumors, besides the "Mew under the truck" rumor have you heard about before? Or, at least find interesting?

I've always found the "Bill's Garden" one interesting. How people claimed you could catch the starters in the "space behind Bill's house".

Are you referring to the original concept of Pokemon where there weren't version exclusives, but really rare Illusory Monsters?

Possibly...basically were going to the original "Mythical " pokemon, except they'd be in game, take legitimately 2 or 3 real times to get to, and if you failed the catch, they're gone. No 2nd chance-ever.
