Building a Weather Team [A Guide by Tortured_Soul]

What? Magnet rise changes after switching? Ummm, wow. That must mean the same for gravity then.

Magnet Rise changes the ability to Levitate. It does NOT affect the entire team. Gravity last for 5 turns. Which would mean every turn, you must use it, and every poke on your team must have it. A huge price to pay for Levitate.

It would be easer just to get a team of levitators. Gravity teams are also worthless. There are much better ways of hitting Flyers & Levitators than to use Gravity.

I'll finish Sunny Day now, but I really need some help with the threat lists. I have run Hail and Sandstream teams enough to know the main ones, but for the other two, I need some ideas. Please only post if you know something...

On the sunny day threat list, Bulky waters get a special mention for being able to wall all those fire attackers with ease.Mantine is actually a threat to both rain and sun teams as funny as that sounds lol, but I probably wouldnt out it in just because I'm like, the only person that has actually used that in an OU battle. lol

Also you should edit that Raikou thing. It relies on a few turns of setting up, meaning rain would be long gone before it could use thunder well at all. As in Thunderbolt is almost always superior.

Also it's tough to take the sunny day thing seriously when Sunflora is mentioned.Sunflora could have wonder guard and it would be terirble :0 Really, it isn't potent like, at all.It makes Mantine look Uber :0 :0 :0 Poor Sunflora...

Too true... :(

The funny thing is, Choice Specs Solarbeam in Sunny Day with Solarpower kills stuff like nothing else. It has dismal speed, so Chlorophyll is almost always the best option, but I should probably only have OU pokemon, no UU.

Bulky waters are good, but they cannot hit back with STAB attacks. :( With the prevailent Grass attacks, anything with a pure Water type like Vappy is gone, but I suppose Gyara would work without Waterfall. I will have a look and update. Thanks.

I kind of mean stopping the mono fire types, despite how rare they are...like Heatran, Typhlosion, Charizard.

Also what most rain dance teams use to kill others can be used against them, so if you happen to have a Kingdra of your own on a standard team it can really halt rain teams pretty badly.

Also I'm going to cast my vote and say NOT to expand this. This is a guide for weather teams and gong into flamethrower themed teams is getting a bit trivial and pointless.

Yeah, I'll make a seperate one for Trick Room some other time in the future. I need more for the threats on Sunny Day. I need to log off, but PM them to me, as I may not see the post. (If you would liket to that is. :P)

Regards,

P.S. We need to battle again sometime. ;)

If you don't mind me asking, why not a Rapid Spin resist in light of Stealth Rock, Spikes, and/or Toxic Spikes running around on Sandstorm teams like Dusknoir or Spiritomb?

Also, I think Roserade should get a mention for Rain Dance teams.

Not only will 100 Base Water-type Weather Ball will hurt with 125 Base Special Attack, but the Rain will also prove a boon by reduce any incoming Fire damage to her; not saying you should let her stay against Fire-types or those who love Fire offense. Of course, this will be counterintuitive to Synthesis, but that can be worked around with. Also, with 105 Special Defense Base, it can probably take Thunderbolts / Thunder pretty well considering resistance and Special Defense; Electivire, or any Volt Absorber could do better, yes, but that shouldn't be the sole basis of not taking advantage of her resistances.

Point being, it certainly won't hurt to explore Roserade's potential in Rain Dance teams. Weather Ball is also too tempting to pass up.

Castform is nice too. Weather ball gets stab and weather bonus.

I do believe Rosesade suits moe in Sandstorm teams, with a powerful STABbed Rock type Weather Ball

Weather Ball gets STAB from Roserade? This is news to me!

But, yeah, I forgot to mention her potential in those teams as well. Weavile will not certainly be a safe switch-in with a Special Stone Edge without the critical rate heading its way; not to mention taking Water and Grass attacks that are normally weakness to such teams. Of course, I won't pit it against an Ice Beam, but Ice types wouldn't like switching to her with Weather Ball under Sandstorm either.

Heck, she has a place in all types of weather - if played right. Like I said, Weather Ball is too awesome to pass up, and Roserade, unfortunately, one fo the few who gets to use it besides Castform. : /

Well Weather Ball is normal type so I don't see how it can be STAB'd coming from Roserade, even if it does change type I think Castform is the only one who gets STAB on it.

I always liked sandstorm. There are two decent pokes with sandstream. But lowering the accuracy of thunder is not very useful with ground types, maybe with steel. I never knew about the solarbeam thing, and ground types seem pretty decent if you do this.
Good Choices i liked from the list:
Hippodon
Tyranitar
Garchomp
Metagross
Swampert
Gliscor

Well those are the really obvious ones so yeah O_o

I have to ask...now that T_S has left what are we going to do with this? I mean I honestly think the format needs a lot of work and the links to Smogon should go bye-bye.

Also it needs a more detailed description of how you actually build and run these teams as well as counter them IMO.

This Should be noted in this thread:

-Rayquaza and Cloud Nine Golduck unaffected by weather in any way.

-Cacturne is not damaged by Sandstorm
EDIT: from experimenting with Skill Swap, Any Pokemon that has the Sandveil Ability is granted immunity to Sandstorm without having to be Rock, Steel, or Ground

-Magic Guard Clefable is not harmed by Sandstorm or Hail.

What is the best way for the sandstorm team to counter Gyarados? I am not a huge fan of breeding for hidden power.

Just use a standard Gyarados counter. Not everything has to be good with sandstorm as long as it doesn't hinder that pokemon too much.
