Question: Bulbapedia?

    I was wondering since PC is a large Pokemon Forum doesn't it deserve a Bulbapedia article? I mean Bulbapedia is one of the bigger wiki's on the 'net.
     
    I don't think they support other websites besides their own...

    It is a pretty cool place though, lot's of info =P

    That's not necessarily true...I mean they have articles on other fan-sites such as Pokemopolis or Marriland.

    And your right that place has LOTS of info. But it did surprise me when I found out that Wikipedia had a better summary page for Pokemon Special than Bulbapedia. Usually it's the other way around. ^_^

    Bulbapedia is the Pokemon Wiki you can't and defintley don't need two. Bulbapedia is good because it has updated info of all the pokemon.
     
    Actually, Bulbapedia has a whole section of articles dedicated to Pokemon forums. Serebii forums has an article, as does Smogon, Psypoke, and Pokemon Fan Universe. Though Pokecommunity is not one of the sites listed.

    However, as already mentioned, this is something to bring up there; not here. ^^
     
    Well, a PokéCommunity-driven wiki would be nice, and if it worked the same way as Wikipedia does, it would be great. The way of working was meant that the actual forum members, or basically everyone would be allowed to edit the wiki, or any people at all. It would need some new staff, maybe, but well, may be worth trying.

    If this idea won't get through, I don't think much would happen.

    On the the topic of article about PC, there is always an option to create it by yourself, anyway.
     
    Having two Pokémon wikis would be redundant. I'd rather anyone who wants to make an effort to have a PC wiki just put their time into editing Bulbapedia. :|

    Anyway, I guess PC doesn't have one because no one's made one. I dunno about the other staff, but I know I'd feel rather pretentious making an article for PC, which is why I've never bothered. D: I have no qualms with it, I'd just feel weird making it myself, ahaha. (I'd probably even edit in history and stuff if someone did create one. I'm not sure what kind of double standard that is but oh well. XD)
     
    I mentioned an idea for a Wiki based on PokéCommunity and it got shot down. As people have said, there isn't really any need for there to be two Wikis dedicated to Pokémon, but what if you had a Wiki just for PokéCommunity? By that, I mean that instead of having articles about various species of Pokémon and updates on the anime or whatever, there could be an article on the history of the forum and every member would have their own PokéCommunity Wiki article based on what they've done. Of course, friends of the person who is being written about would have to write it, because we all know that certain people (like me) would twist the truth and make themselves out to be much more than they actually are.

    I thought it would be a pretty cool idea. It's probable that no one else will agree with me though.

    Anyways, on the Bulbapedia article thing; I agree that PokéCommunity should have one. However, someone would have to write it and everyone knows that the select handful of people who could write an article on PokéCommunity are extremely lazy and first-class procrastinators, so it isn't going to be happening anytime soon.
     
    I was thinking about that too, but I just don't think it's necessary. We already have a TON of options in our profiles, and a fair few people have blogs. I think having a wiki as well might just be overkill for the forum since, at its heart, PC is just supposed to be a forum. :x

    I don't agree because firstly you couldn't make a wiki about a site unless it was an MMORPG site or similar as it would have enough information to make usefull and standard sized articles and secoundly PC has only enough info to make an article about this site (and yet there is not one on wikipedia last time I checked) so why have an entire wiki?
     
    Well, of course it's completely unnecessary. The blogs and profiles aren't really needed either, you know. This forum doesn't need any of that sort of stuff but it still has all of those features. A Wiki based on the community isn't needed at all and this forum will live easily without it, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be tried just for fun and a few laughs.

    And certain other people (i.e., noobs, rude people, etc.) could "twist the truth" and make others out to be much worse than they actually are. We already have profiles, signatures, and even some people with blogs to describe themselves or others. Adding a Wiki for individual members is kind of unnecessary right now, and I'm not even considering the kind of strain it would put on our shiny new server.

    ...That being said, I would like to see an article dedicated to the history of PC, preferably written by those users who have been around for the whole time.

    Aww. If I may ask, Lightning, why's that? I mean, PC's coming in late to the "use Bulbapedia to advertise your board or site" Bulbapedia scene, and PC has a reputation as being one of the largest names in the fandom, considering our usual activity. (We are, after all, fighting for one of the disputable last slots in the Big Four, and given the activity of the others, we practically have one of those three spots.) So, we could just say that PC's getting what it really should have had awhile ago anyway.

    Not to mention I'm not sure how many people look at the edit histories for each article, but I usually don't. And it'd be appropriate if one of the higher staff started the article anyway, I think.

    Just saying you don't have to feel too bad about doing it if you wanted to.

    Otherwise, a random member could start it, sure. Articles tend to be sparse at first anyway, and it's not that difficult to create an account and a new article using one of the other articles as a template. I just don't want to do it myself (I've got an account on Bulbapedia that could use dusting off.) because I'm sure people would rather have someone a heck of a lot more knowledgeable to do it.
     
    I find it hard to believe that no one has deemed PokeCommunity as a definite in that "Big Four."

    Honestly, we've got an outstanding active user base, excellent forums that cover pretty much anything a Poke-fan could ask for, tons of great people, battling, trading, talking, and games...what more could you want in a Pokemon forum? :P

    Plus all-in-all the staff is excellent to the point of no return and we're all extremely informative and generous to new members. PC > other so called "Poke-forums".

    Snap. Good point. :P Plus, all-in-all, it's safe to say we most certainly don't need advertisement or a popularity rating anywhere to continue being active, awesome, and interesting.
     
    PC is fine the way it is, with PC being the 1st link when you type in Pokemon Forum (On my Google that is!) I think that would be all we need, as long as we show up on Google in the higher up links then I am sure people will notice, after all we have never needed advertisement to get new members before.

    Haha...well yeah, it deserves a bulbapedia article and wikipedia article but what can PC do about it? Someone who can and would like can make the article.
    I don't think suggesting to start a Wiki will get a user to start a page on Bulbapedia but mabey this thread/question its self may.
