Buy a DS Lite or wait for The DSi?

Honestly man, I'd just go with the DSlite for now. I mean yeah the DSi looks cooler and has a ton more features(minutes the gba game-slot), but it'll also run you $120 more. It's not worth the wait imo, and plus, I mean...they both play the same games anyways.

But it's really your choice. I personally already have a DSlite, and most likely won't be going out to pick up the DSi on it's NA release.

No, I would NEVER use the "specialER" features the DSi has. I barely use the mic on my DS lite anyway, I don't need a camera too, thanks.

And besides. I'm against adding the letter "i" in recent products, it's annoying and repetitive >:|

i would choose the ds lite, because it turns out dsi dosnt have the dual slot feature

Get a PSP

I don't really see what all the hype about the DSi is about. Who needs a camera in a gaming system and who doesn't have an mp3 player these days? The firmware idea is interesting but no backwards compatibility kinda sucks.

-shrugs- If you don't play your gameboy games or already have a gameboy, then I'd say the DSi is better.

You can say the same thing about the PSP. What ever happened to just systems that play games ONLY. 8( The DSi is pretty neat, but I'd stick to my DS/DS lite, no backwards compatibility stinks...however I'm somewhat interested in the DSi shop feature and such. :3

You mention Pokémon Diamond/Pearl specifically, so chances are, even if not at first, down the road you'll be interested in transferring Pokémon to your DP cartridge. Even if not that, just inserting GBA games into the GBA slot will make certain exclusive Pokémon appear in certain areas of DP, so it's a very useful feature to make the most of your games. So in that regard, the DSi shouldn't be an option--it has no slot for those games.

Honestly? I think the DSi is ridiculous. If you get the DS Lite, the difference in system cost ALONE is enough for one or two extra games to go with the console. I'd only suggest waiting for DSi if you're patient (it's not out until February, iirc) and if you really, REALLY like the new features it brings to the table. (They aren't very useful if you already have a cell phone that does the same things which a lot of people do.) The only thing it really has going for it is DSware but we don't even know what that really is yet. :/

You'd have to be more patient than that. If you live in Europe, the DSi will be out in the Spring. But, all we really know for everywhere else is that Iwata said sometime before the 4th Quarter of next year. Reggie said we won't see it until "Well into 2009".

So, with that in mind...the latest we'll see it is late June. O_O

Oh, did the release date change...? o_o; I remember the conference saying it'd be out around January or February to NA consumers.

Show how much I pay attention to Nintendo news, orz. :(

I don't see what's allt he hate is for the DSi. $120-$150 is really not a lot these days. Sure, a GBA slot is missing, that's the worse of it. I'm loving the idea of that marketplace thing.

...uhhh... any amount of money is a lot these days unless you're crazy rich and the economy somehow doesn't affect you, in which case I'm jealous. :(

Regardless, if the only decent thing about the DSi is the marketplace--which will probably offer things you can find homebrewed for free already--then why would you want to pay more for it? I'm quite certain the two not-even-decent cameras on it aren't costly enough to add on another $50-80.

I'm going to get a DSi since my Lite broke...

I'm tired of playing with my sister's Pink DS Lite with my friends. I'll be getting my DSi the first chance I get.

So your idea of playing the DS is not to play the games themselves?

I say Get a DS Lite. Cheaper, you'll be able play GBA games on it. and you can do "Migrate" if you have a DS Lite on Pokemon when you get there, if you want to transfer your Pokemon from Previous GBA Pokemon Games to your D/P games. I mean a Camera for a gaming system, and MP3(well sure some game can play your music when you play them will be nice)... to overrated IMO. But I say A DS Lite.
