Caffeine, coffee, alcohol and chocolate = evil!

Okay, to the person who gave me negative rep for my first comment and called it spam? Yeah, it would be, if the original post wasn't a sporadic mess of gibberish. I literally could not tell what Improfane's question/statement/whatever was. Clarification was necessary, and unfortunately it seems as though my rather unsubtle hint at needing it went unnoticed.

Anyway, no, Caffeine is not evil. Hitler was evil. Murderers are evil. The worst thing we can expect from caffeine is to make someone so hyper that they...well, run around a lot. I mean, even if you tried to drink enough coffee to reach a lethal caffeine dose, you'd probably die of hyper-hydration first.

I got told to "try reading next time", read the paragraph in question, quoted it here, pointed out how it didn't really affect the argument and got neg repped for it.

And now I'll probably get a neg rep for this too. Fun times.

Are the things you get from these substances, really worth the cost?

Ah, a better question now. Firstly, it depends on how much you drink. if you're drinking six cups a day, then no, because that's going to seriously shorten your life span. However, if you're only drinking about two, there are few, if any adverse effect and in return, you feel happier, lowering stress. So to answer it in a word: sometimes.

There are two worded questions in bold.
Why would I feel lame, and what's the cost? You came into the thread acting like caffeine was the bane of mankind's existence with nothing to back your opinions. If this is a debate thread, then why begin so one-sided?
 
Maybe, but unlike nicotine, its very easy to enjoy caffeine without becoming addicted. To be honest, I have met only about one or two people who claim that they drink coffee regularly because they 'need' to. Smoking, on the other hand...

Beer and whisky are things a true bloke cant be without

The thing is everything is allright for you IF it's in moderation
 
You only live once, enjoy it while you can...

That being said, don't enjoy it to the point where you're future enjoyment is compromised.
 
Nothing here is really dangerous, so long as you have some sense of self-control. In small quantities chocolate is not bad for you, and dark chocolate is in fact healthy. It keeps your heart moving well. Coffee is alright if you don't consume like 3+ cups a day, and while it's worse for you than soda, it has more benefits too, partially because it's made from a real food. Soda's pretty much bad for you on any occasion, but some to get rid of a headache or help you wake up every two or three days or so isn't going to get you killed without some severe allergy or medical issue. Alcohol is generally awful in my opinion, but so long as you have self control, it's ok every once in a while. Also, some drinks, wine especially are good for you too (once again, in moderation).

Edit: that was a lot of posting in a short amount of time! Anyhow, smoking is terrible for you, under all circumstances. Mainly because it's addictive. If for some reason you must have nicotine, you can probably get it from a hospital in correct quantities.
