    [PokeCommunity.com] call of duty: modern warfare 3

    ok rumors have been going around that modern warfare 3 is coming out in october or november 2011. well on destructiod.com they say Infinity Ward is not interested in making Modern Warfare 3 at least not now they say The next project from Activision's golden boys will apparently be something "completely new" and Infinity Ward isnt going to be behind it so they ask who is? well if you go to sledgehammer games.com they say ther workin on the next call of duty and wont give out the tittle and it wont be announced till march. well if you look at ign.com and look at the up coming games section list on page 11 it shows a up coming call of duty game being made by (sledgehammer games) original title saying Call of Duty -- Sledgehammer Games Project [working title] saying to release on december 31. well i decided to look more on the page and found another call of duty game in the list same page 11 and it said call of duty: modern warfare 3 and to release on the same date for the sledgehammer project. so ther you go sledgehammer is makin the next modern warfare and to be released on december 31 2011.

    IGN's date listings for the two studio's is no proof at all. They're just placeholders, generally that is. Infinity Ward is SUPPOSE to be making MW3, at some point (originally for 2011), but with the whole legal affair that went on it's quite possible they broke this part of the contract. I'd say there is a good chance we'll be seeing Sledgehammer's CoD being released next November, or whenever the date may be.

    Wasn't Black Ops unofficially MW3?
    No, because for the past few years it's went back and forth between Infinity Ward and Treyarch. They spit out a new CoD every year (well since CoD2), and it's went like this...
    CoD1 = Infinity Ward
    CoD2 = Infinity Ward
    CoD3 = Treyarch
    CoD4 = Infinity Ward
    WaW = Treyarch
    MW2 = Infinity Ward
    BO = Treyarch

    And since MW was Infinity Ward and since it's went back and forth every year... Treyarch wasn't making MW3, nor was IW making a game 2 years in a row (not counting the first two, because IW founded CoD).

    As for MW3... we're not even sure that it'll be MW3 this year. Going with how it's been going... yea it looks like we'll have MW3, but IW broke apart and they're still fighting over this and that. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see MW3 until next year.

    well im sure gonna look more into it of course for more information. but this is what i got for now.

    Ooooooh, I see now. It's kind of weird, really.

    found some more info

    A third game in the Modern Warfare series is coming this year, according to a new report from the Los Angeles Times.

    Citing unnamed sources, the LA Times says Activision has recruited Sledgehammer Games, the studio currently working on another unannounced Call of Duty title, and Raven Software (Singularity) to help finish development of Modern Warfare 3 for release this November.

    The report states both Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward are equally completing the single-player portion of the game, while Raven is working on its online multiplayer features.

    Due to the developer collaboration, sources said the Call of Duty spin-off project in development at Sledgehammer, rumored to be set in the future, has now been put on hold.

    Since Infinity Ward executives Jason West and Vince Zampella were fired from the studio in March, more than 35 employees have left the studio. Activision said recently it has received over 5,000 applicants to fill the vacancies.

    The publisher has not publicly announced what Call of Duty title would be released this year, but did confirm a new game would be arriving in the back half of 2011.

    so ther tryin to make the deadline to november and Infinity Ward seems to be fine since they fired Jason West and Vince Zampella and is workin with Sledgehammer. i heard about raven workin on the multiplayer i forgot about that info i found that out like a week or two ago i think.

    edit: never mind lol jp already caught that info

    They cancelled the futuristic one? Aw. :C
    Naah, not cancelled! Just put on hold. I do hope this futuristic one comes out following MW3 though (as in the 2012 CoD Release.)

    This sounds like it'll be a complete mess; I mean a worse mess than MW2. /opinion
    Not necessarily. People seem to be very fond of Raven, so them working on the multiplayer can be seen as a good thing I imagine. As for the campaign and whatnot, I think it's good that IW and Sledgehammer will be joining sides. Considering IW lost most major people in the studio, having fresh meat will probably help a ton. I'm trusting that these studios can pull off a good game.

    It pays off to read a few replies before posting. -_-

    Here's a list of Raven's games

    Nothing there makes me go "OMG!!!". But we'll see how well they do. If they listen to the people (and listen to the right people, as in people who will play the game, not the casual bunch who cries about good players been better then them) then that'll be a good start.
    As for the single player... as long as Sledgehammer isn't screwing with the story then I'll be happy. Because I really liked the story for CoD4 and MW2. I want MW3 to keep on being good.

    Apparently in MW3, we hear about Ghost's past and how things came to be.

    WoodysGamertag does a commentary on this topic, if case you guys want to check it out.

    Haha, yes I agree. However, every time the name "Raven" is mentioned in connection to the studio itself, I tend to hear good things about them. I think it's mainly due to Singularity?
    And yeah, I also agree about the single player. I really enjoyed both stories, and to be honest I think they're equally great. MW2 felt short, and CoD4's was a nice length I suppose (granted it was my first FPS, so it could be much shorter than I remember it being. XD) If they're able to keep on track with the story, then I hope they make it longer.

    I thought that was suppose to just be a spin-off game, not MW3 itself.

    Yes it does.
    This has happened to me before, someone was typing for a while, and it the meantime, someone has already posted.

    Anyway I'm not sure about MW3 tbh, I'm not saying that thing until I see something from IW.
