Calling in sick

There's probably been at least one day where you've been so sick you haven't gone to school or work. How often does this happen? How do you feel about it?

I haaaate taking sick days. Then again, 9 times out of 10 if I'm sick it's just a normal cold, so I rough it out. It probably helps that if I just had a cold, my parents would've never let me stay home from school. I can count the times on my hand I've skipped school or work that I can remember.

Last night I was feeling really ill, and it was one of the few things I'd ever call in for, and I figured I would still be sick today. So I texted a co-worker and she agreed to work for me. Woke up this morning and I was feeling so much better. I would've been able to work just fine. I was like I AM THE BIGGEST SLACKER IN THE WORLD. DD: Also, less hours for me this week. Noooo... ;___;

Doesn't happen to me all that often but when it does it's usually if I'm so sick I'd be puking blood in the morning, usually days like those that I don't bother going to school at the time.

I enjoy sleeping in though provided I'm actually able to sleep in at all or just sleep in general, if not then I just play some video games for the day while recovering.

I don't call in sick very often really.
The only time I have called in sick was when I slipped a disk in my back, mainly because I couldn't walk, so I was crippled.

I've worked at my current job for nearly three years and I have not once called in sick. I hate having sick days - and I hated having them in high school too - so I never take them unless I am too sick to move. One time at work I had a really bad cold/chest-infection combo and I stood at the counter swaying.

Basically if I'm well enough to get out of bed I'm well enough to go places. And there has not been one day in my life when I haven't gotten out of bed.

I hate calling in sick =\ I usually feel really bad about it, but sometimes you just have to do it... I usually work through sickness myself, but only if it's not awful and horribly contagious.

I don't even call, I just don't go in. Doesn't take much for me to decide I'd rather sleep a few more hours. I never miss a history lesson because it's worthwhile, but the rest are a waste of time.

I won't lie, I called in sick for school at least once or twice just because I didn't feel like going in, each time I told my parents I wasn't well. xD;

I honestly don't mind calling in sick, I can be quite a lazy person, so I'd rather sleep in all day anyway. :x

It hasn't happened since I was in 9th grade. To be completely honest, I want to be sick for a day or two during school days, because I really need some rest from school right now... @_@ (they've taken every soul out of my body since the beginning of 2011-12 school year)

It'll be a complete bummer if I get really sick during weekends... :(

well,i'm normally when i feel ill hate to let someone notice so i just try to act normal..skipping school,i always did that not only when i'm sick also when i'm bored..even the days i used to go i always escape from the classes or get on the teacher nervous so he\she points to door saying OUT...lol LOVED those days :D

I don't get sick very often and I tend to use my sick days to ditch class. I just have to bring a note about why I was absent and that's it. So... Yeah.

I get sick a lot, and have to take a lot of days off from school. I don't like making up all the work after (it's surprising how much work we get in one day!) but I do enjoy all the time I get to watch television while I'm at home. xD

Overall, I don't really enjoy taking days off. It just makes going back to school that much worse. D:

Every year I use every day possible that I can get off from school. If I wake up and I feel terrible or if I just feel like I can't do it then I stay home. Sometimes I run it by my mom if I decide to stay home to make plans just so she knows ahead of time. For example skipping with a friend to go out for a day would be something I would just tell her. Otherwise I decide myself I'm going to take the day off and just do it.

As for work I plan to quit soon anyways or wait it out a few more weeks until they ask if I'd like to stay. Regardless I'll most likely take full advantage of calling out sick my last two weeks or so.

I usually just suck it up and tough it up.

I stay home when I feel like dieing XD If I completely cannot move or breath or function. If I'm sick and just feel like crap, I still go on with my day.

I fall sick pretty often. In fact, I've taken so many sick days this school year and it's not helping at all. But even when I say this, I have only the slightest bit of enthusiasm on days I do attend lessons. BUT, I've decided that I'm definitely going to try to make the most out of every day.

i rarely absent myself from school because of sickness (mainly because whenever i get "sick", it's usually with just the common cold). although, there was an instance or two wherein i had to refrain from going to school because of a bad stomach.

The only way I get to stay home from school is if I either have a fever or if I fake feeling like I'm gonna vomit because of anxiety. The former has only happened a few times when I was in elementary school, and the latter was twice in middle school and once in 9th grade in the school I went to in NC. Needless to say, last year I got an award for not missing any school days, so that should sum up how many times I get to stay home sick, orz

When I've stayed home sick with a fever, I usually do feel ill but for the most part I kind of liked missing school 'cause I got to watch TV and stuff. When I did it out of faking, I had to get more rest than when I really was sick because I was faking, so it wasn't as fun. But the way I saw it was that at least I didn't have to put up with the stuff that made me anxious about going to school.

Aside from instances where I was so sick, and most likely VERY contagious, I never missed school or work for being sick. I hated making up for schoolwork, so it was a habit I tried to stay out of. xD

I don't think I ever called in sick while at work since all of my jobs were part time during the summer and I rarely get sick. If I feel sick, like 98 percent of the time is just the common cold which isn't an excuse to stay home in my opinion. As for school and college, I would purposely use the "I'm sick" excuse to get out of the education system xD
