Apparently Cartoon Network has no respect for Pokemon because the announcer called Pikachu a dog-monkey. I mean COME ON it's OBVIOUSLY a squirrel cat.

But seriously, was he just trying to be funny or did he really mean that? and did anyone else hear that?

A "dog monkey"? LOL. That just makes him look like an idiot. I can *possibly* see the dog thing, but monkey? wtf?

I didn't hear it because it must have been over in America. My ears aren't *that* good haha

    It's a mouse stupid. >O

    CN announcers suck.

What announcer? Pikachu's actually a mouse pokemon. I could kind of understand dog, but a monkey?

I heard it yesterday. I think CN announcers suck too. =/ They have no respect for pokemon at all. Pikachu is a mouse pokemon, not no monkey.

It was obviously for comedic values; if it was your first time watching
Pokemon, you wouldn't know what Pikachu was either. After all, it doesn't
    exactly resemble a mouse.

I'd personally describe Pikachu to be a small rodent-like creature anyway, though I'd probably be faster to call it a squirrel than a mouse.

Now, how can someone look at a Pikachu and think "monkey"? o.O
Prolly was a joke of some kind, but I didn't hear it so didn't hear the context it was said in...

What was the context the announcer used "dog-monkey" in? Did he just randomly call Pikachu a dog-monkey?

I thought it was hilarious. I put it in my siggy. It's obviously just suposed to be funny. He doesn't look like a dog or a monkey really...

I didn't hear it but other kids channels like Nicktoons Network crack corny dumb jokes of the show between breaks. I think CN is copying.

Some people do weird things trying to be funny. They may not think it could be a little offensive to some fans.

Yep, being facetious, like the rest of you have said.

Right now, I wish they'd stop doing the voiceovers over the ending credits or smooshing them than anything else. Couldn't care less about stupid jokes, because I have no expectation on CN anymore. Heh.

To be fair, the show hasn't really done anything impressive lately (outside of trying to get 5-year-olds to buy a DS). Every time they look like they're about to do something interesting, the writers either forget about it or write it off with a 2-part episode. So it's only natural for people to make fun of Pokemon. I mean, I do. Granted, I usually only make fun of the concept, animals beating each other to the brink of death for sport.

Be glad it isn't Adult Swim...

To be fair though, Nintendo Power called Tails a mutant squirrel.

wow, that anouncer... what an jerk, pikachu is an electric mouse, the freken pokedex, and the show says.

I thought they apologized about that after all the fanboys wrote in and badgered them for a straight month... but then again, how dare they, anyone who should be a game reviewer for a magazine should know Miles "Tails" Prower is a two-tailed fox.

.. dog monkey... @_@ really? There must be some sort of context for that...

I'm assuming it was only meant as a joke, and not intended to be misconstrued as an insult, which a lot of you seem to be taking it as. I mean seriously, I doubt this was a case of poké-bashing, or whatever. The guy was probably just trying to be funnny, so you can all put down your pitchforks and torches xD

Well that is nothing. RTL II (the television program that shows Pokémon in German language) speakers told them "kleine Kuscheltiere" what in English little dollies means

Geez, that's really sad. Even my mom can tell Pikachu's a mouse. XD

I can understand mistaking it for a rabbit maybe, but a monkey-dog? That man's gotta be blind. o.0
