Caramel - How do you pronounce it?

I usually say "caramel". I think I only use "carmel" when referring to caramel apples, and even then sometimes I still use caramel.

I live in hillbilly country so I was brought up to say carmel, and even though I try to say caramel now that I know it's correct, I usually accidentally say carmel -_-;

Anyway I say carmel, to me it just sounds better then saying it with the "A" since it's like way longer to pronounce. XD
