As some of you may be aware, we have been dealing with a string of doxxing incidents lately. As a result, we've had to increase security in our PokéCommunity Discord server. Up to now, this meant restricting media in messages and requiring higher levels of account verification through Discord, such as registering a phone number. However, we know this is very restrictive so instead we have decided to implement the bot Double Counter to verify members going forward.
PLEASE NOTE: If you share a household/IP address with another member, PLEASE CONTACT AN ADMIN as sharing IP addresses will likely flag you as an alt. We will manually verify you. Also make sure to turn off VPNs when verifying, as the bot is set up to not verify anyone using a VPN (which also includes things like iCloud Private Relay).
We thank everyone for their understanding as we work through this issue. With this security measure fully implemented, we plan to remove the other restrictions and hopefully things can get back to normal.
What is Double Counter?
Double Counter is a bot that independently verifies users. We are using it to restrict ban evaders who are using alt accounts or VPNs to get around their bans. We will be requiring that all members verify with Double Counter in order to continue using the server.PLEASE NOTE: If you share a household/IP address with another member, PLEASE CONTACT AN ADMIN as sharing IP addresses will likely flag you as an alt. We will manually verify you. Also make sure to turn off VPNs when verifying, as the bot is set up to not verify anyone using a VPN (which also includes things like iCloud Private Relay).
How do I verify?
In order to verify your account, please do the following steps:- Make sure you are on your main account
- Go to verification and click the Verify button in the panel there
- The bot will send a message either in the #verification channel or your DMs only you can see. Within this message, click the verification link.
- That's it, you're done!
What happens if I don't verify?
Unfortunately, in a few days once we enable it fully, you will no longer be able to see channels or send messages until you verify. We realize this is inconvenient but we must put the safety of our users first. We thank everyone for their understanding as we work through this issue. With this security measure fully implemented, we plan to remove the other restrictions and hopefully things can get back to normal.
