Send out Sableye! Give 'em the Astonish of Their Lives!
"Alright, show your stuff Sableye! Astonish!" you say quietly. Sableye smiles and vanishes. Silence falls as you stay very still, and you can hear the voices a little more clearly.
"So you say it was it was definitely here?"
"Yeah totally S-dude, that fully gnarly rock was somewhere around here..." You take a peek at the two people - they don't look like bad guys...

You recognise the boy on the right as Steven Stone, the champion of the Hoenn region! Unable to contain yourself, you come sprinting out into the lantern-lit cavern.
"You're the champion, Steven Stone! I've seen you on TV! You're so awesome!"
'Wow, fanboy much?' you think to yourself.
"Ah, you flatter me. And this is Brawly, the leader of the Gym here on Dewford Island." says Steven. You hear rustling from behind. Uh oh.
"SAAAAABBBLLLEEEYYYYE!" yells Sableye, doing the scary face. You jump up, whacking your head on the roof of the cavern. Oorg. Brawly trips over backwards but Steven barely flinches.
"Metagross!" he calls, releasing his Pokemon.

"Meteor Mash!" Metagross' foot glows white, flies forward with surprising speed and slams Sableye into the wall, knocking it out. Oops.

"So what up, little dude?" says Brawly. After introductions, Steven helps patch up your knee and stomache (and Sableye -_-) and to your delight you find yourself in conversation with him and Brawly.
"In addition to being a trainer, I'm also a collector and researcher of rare stones. I heard this cave is home to the rare Everstone, so I got Brawly here to show me around."
"So I take it the fact you came out here means you intended to challenge me to a battle? Challenge accepted! And what better place than right out here in the thick of nature at it's roughest? Meditite!" and prepares to send his Pokemon out.

So that's why Dusknoir uses Sableyes lol, nvm that was off-topic.
Anyways, is Sableye ok to battle? If yes, go Sableye.

It resists both Fighting and Psychic attacks.

I hate Steven so I'm not that "excited" to see him.

"Think again. I mean, little dude, we're in Granite Cave! Of course I need a way to take care of Sableyes! Meditite! Hidden Power Ice!" Meditite sends a glowing white beam into Sableye. Meditite's palm starts glowing but doesn't seem to be striking yet - what could this mean?

Use Night Shade!
Sableye fires the dark beam from its eyes into Meditite, sending it flying backwards, and the glow on its fist fades away.
"Erf. I was anticipating a switch with Focus Punch, little dude..." says Brawly. But fine! Hidden Power!" Sableye responds with another Night Shade. The two attacks clash in mid-air and explode sending both Pokemon flying back. While Meditite is charging another Hidden Power, Sableye launches itself at Meditite, finishing it off. Meditite is about to faint, but it is determined to fire one more Hidden Power before it collapses. It would probably finish Sableye though... What do you want to do?

Night Shade.

I'm sure Sableye's faster than Meditite.

I think you mean Night Shade.

Regardless. I pick the same because of Sableye's terrible defenses.
 
One More Night Shade!
As Meditite fires Hidden Power, Sableye fires Night Shade, the two attacks collide, sending both Meditite and Sableye to the ground, knocked out.
"Pretty gnarly, little dude, especially for a newly-caught Pokemon." says Brawly, "But you haven't even met the big hitter of my team yet! Makuhita! Show yourself, bro." He throws the Poke Ball and his second and last Pokemon emerges.
