I wasn't seeing a discussion for my absolute favorite anime, so here it is!
Anyone else love Clannad? Does the song Dango Daikazoku still make you tear up?
How about simply hearing the names "Nagisa" or "Ushio"?

Are you as crazy about Stars as Fuko?

What was your favorite episode? If you could edit one thing about the Clannad story, what would it be?

Talk about anything Clannad related! Jump on in!

Dango Daikazoku has been my alarm sound for years.

    I wake up everyday with tears ;^;

This song still makes me tear up.
I met a guy with the surname "Furukawa" in Japan, and I instantly felt sad. Every time I see pictures from Clannad or hear the names of the characters, I feel strong emotions. I still dream about the anime from time to time, and I still cry every time I watch the last few episodes.

I bought the entire Clannad series for about 1600 yen (~$16), plus a bunch of spin-offs and yonkoma. It makes me so happy that I've got this amazing story in it's original, raw paperback version right here with me.

    Who could possibly hate Clannad.

I hope the rumors about an English release via Steam are true.

I actually really disliked the first season and actually dropped it. I had to force myself to get through the first season because I knew that the second one was so good. I cried multiple times, and I don't cry while watching TV. Not only that but I cry when I rewatch the series as well. I will probably always cry when I watch After Story.

Also Raigeki I am INSANELY JEALOUS.

Altaris disliked the first season though ): Not hated anyways, carry on.

The first season was clearly had some boring parts but it was really great. The after story was full of drama and I'm always crying every damn time I re-watch it. I also hope they would show more of the other world episodes and continue what would happen if Okazaki ended up with someone and have a family just like with Nagisa. But of course, it's different because not all the girls are ill. lol

And Raigeki, please.. sell that to me!

Well, first season is really more comedy/harem rather than the drama you can see in After Story. I'd say you cannot hate Clannad as a whole, somehow.

It felt like a really slow anime, and as much as I generally dislike school life animes, this one was great. Clannad was slow, but enjoyable. Clannad afterstory had a ton of plot and was the saddest thing ever. Like literally, I cried the last seven episodes straight. I was thinking the whole time, "Hey, I watched Angel Beats! I didn't cry a lot. Okay, I did. I can get through this without crying! a lot...
Long story short, I was lying to myself.

    Is it weird that I actually cried more during the first season rather than after story? I actually cried more during Fuko's arc than any other arc haha. That, and the part where he makes up with his dad. That scene, oh gosh. I bawled like a baby ;_____;

I love both the first and the second season. I don't know, most people just like After Story a whole lot more than the original season but I never felt that way. Sure, after story was really powerful. But first season didn't lag behind as much as people made it seem it would (I mean, before I watched the series).

Just in case you didn't already know, it's currently being crowdfunded. It's already reached the target too. :)

I felt the same pretty much; I loved the first season more than After Story. I did enjoy the greater interaction with Nagisa's family in AS though because Akio & Sanae were two very enjoyable characters.

The only episodes I didn't think were brilliant in either season (they were still good just not brilliant) were the ones with Ushio especially since they soon become sort of canonically redundant, but nothing can be perfect.

Also if I had to pick a song on the soundtrack to make me tear up, Dango would be quite far down the list. :P Assuming most of the music comes from the game, that must be one of the most emotional OSTs for a game ever.

I got to admit, I just started watching the show but it made me cry to death, ;~; I really like a kind of Love story like this, I feel bad about Tomoya, On how his Mother died and his father became alcoholic. I really loved when Nagisa came to his life and taking him in an other direction.

omg yes Clannad is my favorite anime of all time, with Angel Beats following in 2nd and Ao No Exorcist after that! I usually hate romance but this was so cute and it actually made me cry ;_; I've watched the movie, first season, the afterstory and the Tomoyo and Kyou chapters. They have a VN too but I couldn't stay with it (I got bored).
All anime made by Key is amazing!

The VN is very long, yes. I tried playing it too but it bored me after a while so I stopped. Much prefer the anime over it.

On the contrary, Ushio's presence was the catalyst towards him sorting things out with his dad which ended up being one of my favorite scenes in the series - as a result, I didn't see them the same way you did I guess, haha. But if we're talking about her scene in particular, then yes, I'd agree. It didn't affect me as much as it could've.

People have been bringing up Angel Beats whenever talk of emotional anime is underway. I tried seeing one episode of it but it didn't manage to grip me much. Might just have to give it another shot sometime soon...

I Never In A Million Years Expected To See This Topic On A Pokemon Website!

Clannad + Afterstory for me was so long ago, but i could tell you and remind you of nearly every scene!

From the 950 Chain Combo! Sunoharo being kicked from shine to glory by Tomoyo and then Tomoya!
To Scenes like Nagisa being drunk and accusing Tomoya of being Interested in Sanae!
Akio: Sanae has Huge Boobs you know?
    Tomoya: (Shockface Headbutts table)

    I Love this ANIME!

Who here likes those lesser scenes?
Like when Kyou goes all Magi Girl?
Transform! Piraruku Piraruku Gyo Gyo Gyo Gyo Gyo! I Love Fish!!!!

Or the more emotionally impacted moments Like Fuko, Ushio and Tomoya playing Cards, visualising what it would have been if Nagisa had survived? Or Tomoya Explaining to Ushio what Nagisa was like? I had my Headphones on when watching that scene so the whimpers and shattered breaths Tomoya took when it all flooded back crushed me..... I'M A MAN DANGNAMIT >.<!

Argh i could talk about this show forever. This is what swayed me from Larger franchises like Naruto and bleach. These two seasons crushed the large scale animes to dust. Cant say i will ever find another anime like Clannad!
