FireRed hack: [COMPLETE][pokefirered] Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen+

Would you ever consider making and adding achievements to RetroAchievements for this? I bet they'd be a fun set of achievements to grind through.
I've never played anything with RetroAchievements and don't know how they work. I'm not opposed to doing it, but if I was going to put in an achievement system of some kind I'd much rather it be in-game, and I don't think that's in the scope that I'm going for. The post after yours implies community members can do them, so maybe someone else can add them?

I've also encountered the bug with being able to revive multiple of the same revived fossil without using the item. I'm not sure what the conditions are to execute the bug, but I know when I only had the old amber & the dome fossil I managed to revive both multiple times without using their respective key item.

I'd also like to add something I noticed on the first time entering 4 Island, I got softlocked after exiting the cable car to get to the main part of the island. I was able to escape the softlock thanks to having a pokemon with Fly, and afterward that exit worked as intended. (Note, this was on mGBA. Either 0.10.3, or 0.10.2.) (Now that I'm actively using the daycare, this softlock seems to happen at random points while on 4 Island? If I can find out more I'll edit this post.)
The fossil revival issues have been noted. The Four Island bug I've tracked down to be the script responsible for making the Day Care Man raise his hand. He's not spawned when entering Four Island's map from most warps, so it's trying to change the movement type of an NPC that doesn't exist. It'll be fixed in the next release. Thank you.

Aside from Evolutions, are Hoen and Johto pokemon only availble post-game?

Last question if that's alright. Does this Romhack work on John GBA on andriod?
Yes, only postgame other than the later-gen evolutions of Kanto Pokemon. I don't see why this wouldn't be playable on that emulator, but I only test on mGBA because that is the standard for accurate GBA emulation.

Can you add more Nuzlocke accessibility?

I'm interested in level cap but not pokemon catch limitation and permadeath
There is no level cap in the built-in Nuzlocke functionality. The experience modifier can be used to turn off experience gain for people who want to cap themselves (and for no experience challenge runs), which will replicate what you're asking for.

Hi, I wanted to ask, has the trainer star for the wireless minigames been changed for something else? Or is it still the same?
Yes. It's mentioned in the Features document. That star can be earned from either the wireless minigames or from getting a 50-win streak at the Battle Tower.

Okay, my account seems to be able to reply finally!!! So there is a bug that occasionally affects the player on Four Island. As soon as you get off the tram and set foot on land (at the summit), there is a chance you will instantly start sprinting in place in the downward direction.

Directional inputs do not work, but start and select work. Just get on the bike and you're free. It doesn't happen every time and I can't actually figure out what causes it. It seems random, but I'm not naive enough to believe that it's actually random lol. It could have something to do with the extra effects. The snow effect also seems to randomly come and go.

(Same thing can happen when flying to the Pokécenter, as well. This doesn't happen on any other island.)
This is due to the Day Care man being forced to raise his hand when he's not spawned, as mentioned above. It will be fixed in the next release. Thank you!

i noticed a bug! When i evolved my poliwhirl with the waterstone then exp share he was holding for some reason disappeared!!! i tested this out a few times and it happened again and again. No idea why. On Wheepingbell it didn't happen
This is known and is already fixed for the next release. Thank you!

Hello, I hope you are still active here. I just want to ask if hacks related to x99/unlimited items are allowed in this ROM?

Specficially, the unlimited nuggets or at least, a way to get more nuggets and rare candies via hacks/other options. Mostly to buy 2 porygons and TMs from the Celadon Game Corner.
This is not a binary hack. No cheat codes work because everything in the ROM has been shifted. Use PKHeX to save edit if you want to cheat. You can give yourself max money and coins, as well as give your Pokemon held items. Do not attempt to open the bag with PKHeX, as it'll corrupt it. FRLG+ had to change the bag structure internally, so vanilla save editors don't work on the bag inventory.

Also, how do I download this? Do I need a FR or LF ROM then I patch this in (however that's done)?

Sorry, it's my first time using GitHub.
Download the .bps patch from the linked releases page and patch it to a FR v1.0 ROM.

Hi, sorry if someone has already asked this. Is there a guide or anything similar to explain all the new endgame content and how to access it?
There isn't an actual guide, but all the new stuff is documented in the features and FAQ docs that are linked prominently.

Ok there's definitely a bug that sometimes prevents the LINKBRACELET being awarded. Earlier on this thread someone else had the same issue.

Is there any workaround at all here? This was the main reason I opted for this hack
I keep seeing reports of this but I can't reproduce it despite lots of testing. I will be rescripting that portion of the game and redoing how the bag is structured again for v2.0, so I'm hoping that it will be fixed by one or both of those changes in lieu of me being able to track down the actual cause.

Hey, thanks for making this, this is easily my favorite FireRed Rom Hack! There is just one caveat which is a big deal to me. I would really love the addition of the summary screen i attached to this post, which shows precise IV's (as well as BS and EV) numbers of pokemon. Unfortunately, because your patch affects the Summary Screen (especially the stats page), i can't add in the patch that lets me see precise IV's, as seen here, which would be far more useful to me than simply seeing an up and down arrow for the natures.

I would love to have the features of this hack, combined with the summary screen patch that shows BS, EV's and IV's. As an Avid breeder who likes to try and get perfect IV's, this would be more useful.

It would be very helpful If you would be willing to provide a version of this hack, but without the specific summary screen changes, i could simply patch it with the IV screen after your mod. I would do it myself, but I'm not nearly experienced enough with Emulation Hacking to do this myself.
I don't plan on adding a precise IV checker at all. External tools like PKHeX can read the IVs of Pokemon from the save if you really want to view them. Incidentally, the reason that patch doesn't work is because this isn't a binary hack and therefore the offsets of everything have dramatically shifted--you can't layer binary patches onto decomp hacks or vice-versa.

I'm going to copy and paste an answer I gave to a similar question regarding checking IVs to explain why I'm against implementing it:
I'll probably add the Emerald IV checker in the next update, but the Gen 3 version of the IV-checking NPC is not very useful. I feel that, since this is a Gen 3 ROM hack with Gen 3 Pokemon generation mechanics, there's almost no need to view IVs or EVs directly. You can beat everything in the game, even on Challenge Mode, quite easily with random IVs and messed-up EVs. There is an option in the Key System Menu to make all IVs be treated as perfect if having suboptimal Pokemon really bothers people. I understand the compulsion to min-max, but let's be real, you're not using these mons in competitive tournaments and if you transfer them up to Home you can Hyper Train them. I also don't want to supplant the official Gen 3 games when it comes to getting good Pokemon. This is meant to be a drop-in replacement for FRLG, not to be the only optimal way to obtain Gen 3 Pokemon to the point where collecting Pokemon in FRLG+ is the only viable way to do so.

There were a lot of posts this time, and I tried to only answer questions in this reply for the sake of keeping my message from being huge. I do read every post and appreciate the feedback and kind words regarding my work.

v2.0 is progressing nicely, albeit slowly. I recently made a big change in my actual life and have even less free time than I usually do because of it. I would estimate v2.0 sometime in 2026 at my current pace, but this is by no means a promise. I'm actually really excited with how it's shaping up, but don't want to share any additional details at this time. There's no use building people's hype when it'll still be such a long time until it's finished.

If it weren't for the planned savebreak, I'd be releasing builds with the newer features as I finished them, but because so much has to be restructured and I don't want to be breaking people's saves with every new update, I think it's best that I shovel everything planned into one big v2.0 release. This is the downside of having an audience for what was supposed to be a personal hack: I have to be courteous with everyone's game progress!
