[Showcase] CoolKid575's Art Gallery

My drawing for this week had a lot more effort put into it compared to the previous one, I've been working on it since Saturday; and I really like how it turned out! It's supposed to be a hot air balloon floating over a river that splits a golf course from a forest / field combo. The colors aren't 100% clean, and I drew the trees as one color since I couldn't figure out how to draw them from above well. But I definitely don't think I could've made this a month ago. Doing drawabox / learning art isn't always the most riveting experience, so it feels really nice when I actually notice myself improving.

Almost forgot about this one and I've mainly been doing drawabox over the past week; but I replicated the box exercise I'm on with the line tool

This one is actually a pretty great perspective practice! Nice job!

Your other drawings are great too! I like your most recent one with clour!

This one turned out mediocre imo. It's supposed to be a haunted house, but I misjudged how tall it would be and ended up just drawing the first story; using slanted walls / misshapen windows to make it look a bit more imposing / spooky.

I like this one a lot, personally. I'm not even sure why, I just really like how it looks. It brings up memories of Mad Monster Masion, Luigi's Mansion, an artwork you'd see in Mary's Painted World in the game Ib... Just feels 'familiar' to me I suppose lol.

I will admit I don't get "warehouse" when I look at this pic, but the linework is very impressive! I see more of a knight's helm pattern, or solar panels.

Didn't make the week deadline this time around, I couldn't think of anything interesting to draw and I didn't want to force out another bare-bones B/W image like last time. I have been keeping up pretty well with DrawABox though, and I figured I'd draw a question block from Mario since I've been drawing so many through the course anyway. It's in 1 point perspective, and I think it turned out decently! The question mark looks surprisingly natural, though the screws are a bit misaligned.

Another week, another drawing. I feel like this one came out pretty good, though I got a bit lazy / bored by the end and didn't spend as much time texturing as I should've (my least favorite part of drawing so far). I enjoyed making this one more than usual, and it feels satisfying that even this "OK" drawing blows the stuff I thought was really good back in January out of the water. I've noticed a lot of my recent stuff has been falling into a pattern of just being landscapes though, so I'm going to challenge myself and draw an OC next week. I've been nervous to draw people since it's a really involved process and there's a lot of stigma around poorly conceived / executed OCs, but I suppose I'm never going to get good at it if I never start.

Another week, another drawing. Well, not quite, these are actually old drawings I just haven't posted yet. I've been feeling really burnt out with art recently and have been struggling to stay consistent, so I'm planning on taking this next week off to recharge and hopefully come back better.

This one was made on Mar. 10

And finally this one was made all the way back on Feb. 6

Well that break certainly lasted longer than a week. I was originally planning on coming back after my Spring Break, but after it ended I went back to being super busy and figured I'd resume posting when I graduated. Then I started an internship on Jun. 2, and the cycle repeated. I have been drawing during that time, not as much as I should be, but according to my logs I've practiced 5 out of 14 days in June so far, which is a far higher percentage compared to April (5 out of 30 days) or May (7 out of 31 days). I don't think my skills have regressed much, but I haven't been improving much either in my opinion, I suppose I'll just have to wake up earlier and start drawing everyday again to get back on track. Regardless, here's what I've made since my last update:

This one was finished on Apr. 7 and it's a colorized / updated version of my original "Unstoppable Force VS Immovable Object" drawing:

This one was finished on May. 30, and it's supposed to be a street very loosely based on Venice / Italy:

This one was finished on May. 31, and it's supposed to be of some trees in a snowy landscape. It also happens to be my favorite of the lot, I think it turned quite nice despite the perspective being off, and I got some practice with the dry brush tool in Krita:

And finally this one was finished on Jun. 8, it's loosely based on a hospital I used to live very close to. The real building has umbrella tables instead of trees, but I couldn't figure out how to stack them correctly so I just did something easier.

I know I've said this multiple times previously, but I'm finally going to actually sit down and force myself to draw a character (probably a fan art) within the next week. I'm still very nervous about making a Sonic OC Do-Not-Steal tier product, but I feel like I'm starting to get a little too comfortable with landscapes and want to challenge myself to learn and execute some anatomy, which I hardly know anything about.

Great to see some art from you again PK!
And good luck on your character drawing when you start working on that!
