Could Gen 2 play a role in S&M

    Will Gen 2 play a role? So it seems a plot point is alchemy which had to do with things like gold and silver which were the gen 2 games. also in the first Johto anime opening one of the lyrics goes Golden sun & silver moon with that said I have no idea how Johto could play a role but would be interesting if they went this possible route.
     
    Don't forget about the cloud formations of Ho-oh and Lugia, though it really reminds me of the cloud theory from Brawl that fans used as evidence that Ridley would be playable, which he isn't of course.

    I see Ho-oh and Lugia will be two of the first Pokémon revealed to use the speculated synchronized Mega Evolution.
     
    It's really not a bad theory, I mean the first thing I thought when I saw this thread was, wow there are actually a whole bunch of generation 2 pokemon revealed for this game.
    I totally wouldn't mind a story involved with Johto/Kanto, so long as it doesn't steal the spot light from Alola and the new generation.

    You're right. Two of the 1st route mons we know about, that aren't Gen VII, happen to be Gen II mons. Those being Ledyba and Pichu.
     
    There's the clouds resembling Ho-Oh and Lugia, as Pinkie mentioned. However I feel they are mere coincidences and while the regional Dex will have mixed generations, I don't want too many old Pokemon stealing the spotlight from the 7th Gen newbies, because XY had this flaw that the newcomers were drowned out by the previous-gen options.
     
    I could see Gen 2 playing a role actually, it'd be neat to see Ho-Oh and Lugia get Megas/Primals/a different form or perhaps a new move, I do believe that this gen we won't be getting any new forms but rather something like Mega Moves (Professor Kukui's focus on studying moves, Solgaleo's/Lunala's Radiant Sun and Full Moon formes are specifically for and because of their signature moves), perhaps Ho-Oh and Lugia will be obtainable in the games with formes for their signature moves too? Idk hehe, that's what I came up with.

    I also recall in Pokémon Movie 2000 the island Ash and co. were on prior to the huge events of the movie was an island reminiscent of Hawaii/Alola, probably not related at all (and also it's a movie, not related to the games) but I found it really cool lol.
     
    Maybe! It's totally a possibility.

    But personally, if Gen 2 were to make a comeback, we would surely(maybe possibly) receive Gen 2 starters, right? But we got Gen 2 starters in ORAS so yea..
    Otherwise I can totally see Lugia & Ho-Oh making a cameo if they bring back Mirage Spots :3

    Maybe they'll get a mega evolution?

    That's what I thought too, but I wonder how they can ditch this concept... we won't have any new mega, or we can't use the mega we already have? Maybe the mega stones are items we can't trade to this game? ççI really liked the Mega concept, but if it doesn't return I won't be that sad.
     
    I'd love this and think it'd be really cool depending on how they went about it. That said, I don't have high hopes for this happening.
