Hi, I'm new here and idrk what you're rules on cussing are. I don't really cuss that much but I don't want to get an infraction if I do.

Um, just try not to do it. If you must, make sure it's always censored. And also that it's never said with the intention to offend.

I'd advise just avoiding it altogether, though, since how strict the staff is with swearing depends on the staff member. Better to play it safe, imo.

The word filter just makes any naughty words looks like "****" anyways. Just use them sparingly and don't try and bypass the word filter with things like "$h!t" or "fu(k" and you'll be fine. XD

Like said before. Also, you CAN add the first letter of the word (ex: s***) to know what you're talking about. :)

I don't cuss that much. I just say d*mn sometimes.

    Just thought I'd chime in...

I don't know about others on the staff (apart from the ones I talk to regurarly, and most of them feel the same way), but I typically don't allow that on the forums I moderate. There's a reason that the censors block out the whole word - so younger members don't know what people are talking about when they use a curse word or slip of the tongue.

In my opinion, there are two ways of really getting into trouble using curse words. One, you use it in a negative way against someone. That of course means you curse at someone. The other is bypassing the censors, in the way you suggested, and getting in trouble that way. I'm sure most staff members, though it's frowned upon, won't punish you if you have a slip of the tongue if you prove a point or something of the sort, so long as it's done with respect and properly.

But, like Lightning said, staff members do things differently than one another. One might punish you for cursing at all; whether offensively towards someone or not, while another might just let it slide or give you a verbal warning by sending you a private message rather than an official warning (yellow "card") or an infraction. Again, it's best to just avoid it all together and not risk the chance of running into a moderator who's had a bad day, or is more strict than others, and happens to see you do that. Because a moderator's mood certainly affects how they'll react to something that's against the rules and makes the difference between an infraction and a warning. It only makes them all the more human.

And getting an infraction for something that could have been avoided wouldn't be good for your records if you're interested in maintaining a clean slate.

    Who told you that? Because, as far as I know, that's actually complete censor bypass as far as PC's rules are concerned. I wouldn't do that if I were you. o_o;

Gee, I was infracted for one tiny letter, just like that, way back when lol

That's funny, 'cause I got a post removed for manually censoring my own words.

Well, like I said, every mod handles it differently. :/ One might not care at all if you say a bad word and others, even if it's censored, will remove the post entirely (or infract). Last time it was brought up to punch out a definite rule for everyone to follow, the thread got nowhere so for now just... be careful what you say, I guess? If you do get an infraction and really disagree with it, let a higher staff know.

I hope my signature is okay. haha!(:

Yea. you see, the thing with your signature is that it seems less like censorship and more like you are trying to dodge a filter. Restraint is admirable, but cheating the system is considerably less so.

I can see you getting busted by a mod for it, but it depends on the individual.

I don't think damn and hell are that big of a deal. :\ It's the other four-letter ones that people get antsy over.

Neither of those are swears ._.

Like, damn is just a synonym to doom anyway. The only way it could be considered a curse-word is in a magical sense. As in, oh you're damned to five years of bad luck. It sounds silly sometimes, but it's very much 100% correct that they are interchangeable.

Your account on here has been activated.
If you're using FireFox click on Tools > Options > Privacy > Remove Individual Cookies > Find your email or click "Remove all Cookies" (this will remove everything).

But chances are you're using Safari (or something other then FF), and if that's the case then click the link below and start a new thread (don't reply to a current thread, start a new one telling your problem).

Oh, and don't reply to threads with a little ontopic part when your main point is something that doesn't have to do with the thread (like your post here, you're trying to get your email fixed, but you replied with a little "I don't agree with cussing" just to say "I said something about the topic). I hope you get it all worked out.
