Customized User Titles for PC Supporters

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed or what, but I for one think that PC supporters should have the option of having Customized user titles. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's basically like having colors or bold/italic, etc in yout user title. (Check out Lightning's user title for a good example). I guess it's really not up to me, though; what do the Administrators think about it?

I think that's a pretty cool idea. But, and please correct me if I'm wrong, I think that uses HTML. And you know how the staff feels about letting members use that.

Yeah that would be nice, but it does uses HTML. And I don't think HTML is allowed in some parts of this forum. But it is their call though. IMO, we don't need it because they gave us so much already. I am satisfied of what we got. ^^

that would take a little bit of work considering the admins would have to set each usertitle to allow html for each supporter in the tiers they allow to do this (if they did). while I would be stoked if they did this, it is a lot of work and they've already done so much for us, I'm happy either way.

Wait a minute, it wouldn't be that hard, would it? Could they not just edit the PC Supporter usergroup, and make the user titles HTML set?
... I kind of know what I'm talking about, but not really. : /

Anyway, I'm grateful for all the things they've done for us, too. As I said, it's really up to them to decide.

actually the setting isn't there in the usergroups. what the admins would have to do is go into our account settings and set our usertitles to the Admin-set HTML allowed setting. unfortunately it would still take a while to do all of that plus in order to accommodate the extra characters of the code, they would probably have to input out usertitles from the admin CP. (I think that's how it works, I haven't been around a VB adminCP in a while)

    Hm. :/
Oh well. If they don't feel like doing all the work, then we won't have colorful user titles. Which is fine; it's not like it's the end of the world or anything.

Well, I have a vBulletin system myself, and unless I'm mistaken, if you want to really use HTML it could only really be done in the AdminCP because there is limited space in the custom user title area. But I don't think that the Administrators would approve of this unless it'd be something like the User Name Change thread and they'd do that on this board, and we'd have to request something. But, I don't think that'd happen either. Probably because HTML could just screw up the page completely and the staff probably wouldn't know who to trust with that power unless they prove to them that they can handle it, which is probably why we can't use HTML code in posts. I mean, anyone can pay to get a spot as a PC Supporter just like anyone could use that HTML privilege to ruin something on the boards.

What about just being able to use color and text properties or whatever they're called (bold, etc). If it was anything like the name change thread, then the admins would be able to approve or disapprove the code. (Obviously disapprove if there was some page hacking code going on in there).

It would be nice but I do not think it would happen because Admins/Asst Admins would have to make the changes for us.

:/ The only way for us to change the user title of someone to include formatting (colours, bold, etc.) is to manually go in through the Admin CP and add in the HTML ourselves. We can do this if we restrict it just to staff since that way the AA+ staff members aren't too busy, but if we opened it for supporters? Even just tier 5 supporters would effectively double the amount of people who would be requesting title changes. It's just so much of a hassle.

Even if we could just enable HTML-sets for all supporters, we just wouldn't. It's too easy to donate a bit of money and then insert harmful HTML in your title. The only way to moderate it would be to do it ourselves and that's just way too much work for the ever-growing amount of people who could request it. :(

^ Yeah that is what I thought, it is too much work for you guys. It just will be abused, just like Zet said. You guys gave us so much. I am very grateful of what you guys gave us. ^^

I really don't want to go to this forum, and the pages are messed up because someone put a HTML code wrong in their custom title.

Aw come on. We could make all title changes based on a x# of month timer just like name changes. This would hopefully lighten the load, since only staff would be able to request an html title. I'd definitely be happy even if we were only allowed to change our titles' formatting every X months. 4 or 3 sounds reasonable to me.

Anyhow I see no harm in doing this for tier 5 only. the thread would be here and staff would have full control over the html code inserted into the system

This would be a great idea, I would love having colourful User titles, but would you be able to change back to black if it was wanted? or would you be stuck with the same colour?

Once you change your title through your profile, it defaults back to plain text. Honestly, I think it's just too much of a hassle. I know I wouldn't want to go in and change it but if other admins don't mind changing them and know they could keep up, I wouldn't mind discussing it with the other staff.

It would also relate back to if the member is willing to go back and forth also, which I am presuming most wouldn't be!
