You mature out of responsibility pretty quickly in college. ;)

And I understand what you mean, Kura. But I mean the class material itself always seems to be a waste of time, not the class or taking the class. Like I took an english class freshman year (and I love english) but it ended up being a joke much to my disappointment. I find the Gen Ed quality a waste of time not the class itself. Maybe that is better put.

Maybe it's a waste of time because it's easy.. and for some people.. they're not in school to get an A plus in a calculus course if they're getting into something completely different like Graphic Design. Or some people might be completely on their own and need to work a lot of hours to keep themselves afloat... and sometimes it doesn't matter how easy the course material is.. as long as they get that degree in their hands that's all they want so they can work towards a successful career.

Also not all AP students are sugar and candy. Some are pretty much douchebags :/ Just because you're "smart" doesn't mean you're particularly intelligent. :/ There is more than one type of intelligence out there.

Edit: Oh I had to mark someone stuff today. I'm in my 4th year of a degree program and I pride myself in my English.. but what I saw was just atrocious. I think the story I peer-evaluated was from someone from the same year as me.. but it looked like it was done by a 6 year old. I can post an excerpt from it in my next post.

The only "douchebag" ones are far and few between here, and are pretty rare. In some places, it's a no-brainer to get in AP, while in others, it's near impossible, and here it's pretty easy only for the most part to get in, but the teachers really don't cut any slack, so the students are obviously there to take their education seriously and make the most out of it.

Don't lie Derk, there are never exceptions to the rules when it comes to AP classes.

Kura, you make a good point about stereotyping. It is true that not all people follow the norm (hence that's how we get standard deviation bell curves! Yay statistics! ^.^); however, it has been my experience that you get from a degree what you put into it. A person who goes just for the degree will not have had the same development as a person who has aim at excellence (if anything, it shows a difference in work ethic). But I didn't come to PC and specifically the Chit-Chat thread to debate stereotypes and argue.

*pours everyone green tea* come! Let us relax!

AP people can be pretty douchy some times...however...we all have a tendency to be a bit douchy sometimes! hehe ^.^

Debating stereotypes and arguing is still a major step up from the normal level of discourse that goes on in this thread.

I'm beginning to see this as I read back a few pages before I got here...*nods sagely*

Tea? *offers green tea*

I'm here now, so we can lighten the moods! *gets struck by lightning* ...seriously...I thought I fixed that...

Um, I'm not. Most of the people here aren't douchebags, and in the rare cases that they are, it isn't in the AP class itself. Trust me, I've seen it myself, I've seen some AP kids being major douches, but it's never within the class itself that it happens.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all.

I don't see how AP people are any more douchy then regular people. Just about anyone can come off as a douche in a certain situation. Although the students in AP classes did seem to come off more smug and uppity then regular classmates.

I had the reverse situation back when I was in high school. The AP people were all very humble, modest, and unassuming. It was the athletes and student government who were smug and uppity.

Ugh...it really is useless... *goes off to sip tea by himself* everyone is too busy arguing to have tea with me...I'm so lonely! :'(

*Sigh* XD

Hi guys. I'm an underage drinker. What's the hippity haps.

@Luck: it's ok you haven't made a strange impression on me yet.

Thank you very much.

I think Derrick is just a hater because I'm not as strange as her.

Some of the athletes where just jackasses/morons and so on. Although some of them I was friends with and they where quite friendly and outgoing, I never got that feeling from AP students. I guess I perceived them staying to themselves as where too good to associate with other students that were not in a bunch of AP courses. Kind of that way with some band students as well although one of my best friends was in the band student and I guy I worked with are band students and they are as nice and open as can be. I suppose it is a person by person basis, but I just got the feeling from AP students as to hell with everyone else.

Oh.. I didn't mean it as a stereotype ._. I just meant it as common knowledge.

During a course in my final year of university, one line in a peer's short story (that we have to do peer evaluation for) was: "whoo~ (sigh), by the way, what do you mean what you were saying, it's going to be extremely problems?"
And another:
"Peter sits the chair and starts connecting on it with wearing metallic glasses. He is smiling at me then getting asleep. I guess he going back to the future now."
It was all like this!!!
:// Sad thing was.. this is a general elective.. so I'm just taking it cause it's required by my course.. but in order to get my degree we need to pass university level English and Literature courses.

Did he pass? HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? HOW DOES IT GET SO BAD? He's in his 4th year, too!

Jack: You're an AP student and you're far from humble. I'm not saying you're a douchebag, but just because you tend to be "quiet" at times doesn't mean you're not intensely opinionated and sometimes even condescending. :/// You;re not a bad guy but you're not an angel, either.

:C It's not an argument.. I was just pointing out what my opinion. I can't help that it's always right!

(Haha I'm just kidding!) But really.. Sometimes when I feel strongly about something, I just like to say it.. and I hope it never strongly offends anyone but sometimes I just like to have my thoughts put across there. I like when my points are at least considered and I also like to hear about other people's perspectives.. :C I don't like arguments but I like to listen to other people's experiences.

I am amazed this guy was even able to qualify for freshman composition, much less making it to his fourth year of it. People in pre-freshman comp can construct sentences a lot better then the person at hand. Do they no look at ACT scores or evaluate the students when they sign up for school? That way the counselors and students/families can get a sense of where the student is at in a certain subject? Again I am baffled at how that person made it that far, I assume those lines were the tip of the iceberg in this persons case. If students grammar is that abysmal there is no way they would make it past, much less into freshman comp at my school.
