@CID, I don't think a lot of people outside the regions we live in would know how popular it is. They're usually surprised to hear it. The contrast is lovely to observe.

I guess. First time I encountered this particular situation of unfamiliarity to be honest. The craze just didn't feel like it would be rather obscure outside of these places, but then I see the reason. So it is pretty interesting, to have different views of this sort.

Regarding the actual root of all of it, it almost represents a general discontent in one's own skin tone, at least around here. Granted, it reaches almost any product that's applied to the skin without much reason so maybe it's just a fad. And not at all serious.

I think whitening lotion is a wonderful idea. I hate how everybody is so into tanning. I think tans look awful. It just looks like skin damage, which is essentially what it is. I would much prefer people be pale. Just whatever skin colour you're born with, stick with it. If you really wanna change the colour of something dye your hair :P

Have to agree, especially in cases where people resort to carcinogenic tanning salons. Just ridiculous.
