I manipulate my brother into buying games for me. 8D; Mind you, we share most of our games so it doesn't really matter who buys it, but still. XD; And I'm the hug avoider in my family. My brother spazzes out and does the whole hugging thing every time he sees me (I live away from home now) so... it gets on my nerves and I have to push him away sometimes. :|

My sister is the hug avoider in the family (why is it always the female one?!), but she randomly hugs me nowadays for no reason o.O

Yeah, but they only get merged if you post within a certain time frame... (which I don't know of) >.>

I was actually thinking about this the other day.. it'd be easier to have it merged for you to add something on, rather than editing.

Under normal circumstances, I don't spam; I spammed only once, as a final and futile act towards all who had wronged me on these forums when I knew the ban hammer was going to be dropped on me anyway. You learned quickly to put some measure of substance in your posts, as did Matt; how do think he was able to become a moderator?

This "Sam Smith" bugger, on the other hand, keeps on making the same mistakes despite being reprimanded multiple times. His posts lack both style and substance.

As for me somehow becoming a staff member (yeah, right), I'll just tell you what I've told everyone else: I don't care if I become unpopular. I don't care if my actions appear to be totalitarian. Just drown out the n00bs, ignore their insipid queries, and disregard their futile demands. Just carry on with what must be done for the greater good of the community, even if it means taking a thousand n00bs out into a forest and disposing of them in the only way possible.

You'd actually haul all those n00bs? Have fun with that. Or you could just threaten them to improve... that could work.
 
Threatening people to improve doesn't work... though a ban often does because they'll either forget about the place after they're banned or they'll smarten up when we let them back in.

If only it worked every time. :C
 
That's what I mean though... threaten that you'll ban them if they don't improve, and most PC-addicts would be scared of a ban, so yeah...

Way to make a distasteful massacre reference and unnecessary imagery.
 
Usually the threat of a ban doesn't work until the person has already been banned though. 9_9 Hopefully now that people can see usernotes and see exactly how close they are to a ban, they'll be normal or something.

That's what quite a few of us thought as well.

Ideally, it'd be with the assistance of the other staff, but if I were forced to carry out a banning campaign single-handedly, then so be it. That act will be the threat that shall intimidate the other n00bs into improving: "If you spam, ask stupid questions, or otherwise have the civil and intellectual capacity of a lobotomized howler monkey, you die unless you get your act together NOW."

For some, I doubt usernotes visible would help at all.

Ah good, at least I'm not the only one.

But you've got to remember that this IS only a forum, and not a real life situation where their actions could harm other people.

I think something similar to how wikipedia shows how you get messages would be good. Private messages aren't visible enough. Instead, you have a warning box appear beneath the breadcrumbs navigation with a red warning symbol and a warning in bold.

A PC member with an actual knowledge of history? Well, I never. Yes, I am aware of the Katyn massacre; any reference to it in my previous post was purely unintentional. Still, comparing n00bs to Polish prisoners of war and me to Lavrentiy Beria is unfair, both to the Poles and to myself.

PC doesn't have gulags with which the staff can make the n00bs work off the sentences. It essentially comes down to either letting them run free or terminating them on the spot.

How many n00bs would bother viewing their usernotes? How many are even aware of the existence of usernotes to begin with?

You know, I really must be physic or something as the first time in weeks do I bother to check this thread is the time when I get mentioned! Or I guess it could just be my awesomeness. Anyway, yeah, I honestly can't believe how stupid I was back when I first joined. My posts were utterly pointless — and they still were a few months ago. Thankfully, however, they aren't so bad now and I am getting better at adding more detailed content to my posts and putting more thought into how they grammatically come across. Still, it's dreadful having to read my past here. I was so full of myself, too. o.o

The bold warning wouldn't help... people need something that jumps out and takes over the whole screen. Though that's going a little too far.
