Kuroi blinked. Chuunin Exams. A smirk broke onto his unfeeling face and his respect for Hachino-sensei was practically reset. Suddenly, the soba noodle's bland taste wasn't burning his tastebuds, suddenly, Kuroi didn't mind that Hiryuku-san wasn't exactly his first choice for a teammate, in fact, probably his last. And suddenly, Hachino-sensei seemed to become as emotionless as Kuroi, as he chewed -slowly- on his soba noodles. Standing up, Kuroi couldn't sit still, and suddenly wanted to train- train like there was no tomorrow. Hachino-sensei, however, had a different idea.
"Sit down Kuroi." He said firmly, and Kuroi reluctantly sat down, and he continued, "I don't believe that you two are ready for this exam." Kuroi tapped his fingernail against the sleek metal forehead protector, with the symbol for Sound etched into it, as Hachino-sensei blabbered on, "But. I'm certainly not going to be the first Jounin to tell Orochimaru-sama no, so I want you two to be careful- very, very careful. There are lot's of genin with ten times as much experience as you. I won't lie and tell you I'm not worried, and I won't tell you that I have full-confidence in your skills- because I don't." Kuroi's eye narrowed, "But try your best and don't feel ashamed to..." He stared pointedly at Kuroi, "Back out."
Both of Kuroi's eyes narrowed, and his respect for his sensei dropped back to the depths of the earth. Kira's. Never. Backed down.

"Well isn't that great. Why us?"
"It's an honor, isn't it, Tsuyoi?"
"All I can say is don't get yourself stabbed by a pencil during the written test. That'd be a retarded way to go!"
I could hear Kikari-sensei's laughter ringing in my ears and I opened my eyes, noticing Tsuyoi lounging on the end of my bed (so thats what the weight next to my feet was,) Hayaii sitting next to my bed and Kikari-sensei sitting on a stool with her legs crossed, one over the other.
"Shioko-san!" Hayaii smiled and I blinked, my eyes focusing and noticing that he looked rather relieved to see me awake. It made me smile, and he let out a breath he seemed to have been holding for a long time, "Are you alright?"
"LEAVE!"
I was quiet and then nodded, "Yeah, I'm alright. I must've gotten dizzy from the cold." I sat up with Hayaii's help and Tsuyoi was toying with his kunai, seemingly deep in thought as Kikari-sensei informed me that we'd been chosen for the Chuunin Exam. I frowned and wondered what Ongi-sama would say to this, but I didn't voice my concern. Hayaii commented on the obvious to Tsuyoi: I was awake. Tsuyoi simply glanced at me, most of the malice and hatred no longer in his green eyes, but he said nothing. Hayaii grinned and said, "What was that move you used on me? That was amazing, I felt like my leg had vanished- Actually, I was... kind of afraid it'd have to be amputated, but after you were knocked out my leg felt better, so I guessed it was some technique or something."
My hands trembled at the barrage of questions and Kikari-sensei interuppted me, "Taijutsu at a well-aimed angle, nothing more Hayaii. Hikaei, do you think you're ready for this? We can reject the offer if you feel like it." Kikari-sensei looked utterly serious, and Tsuyoi's eyes flashed warningly at me, as if daring me to reject. I glanced at each person on my team: Hayaii, who looked genuinely concerned and who I knew would accept my decision, Kikari-sensei, who looked bored with the idea, and Tsuyoi. Who looked positively frightening, his eyes staring straight at me.
"I-I d-don't really have a p-p-preference." I mumbled, and Tsuyoi stood up abruptly, lifting the weight on the end of the bed I was on, and he announced, "It's decided then. We'll go. When are we leaving?"
Kikari-sensei smiled and said, "Tomorrow. We are rather far from Konohagakure." Hayaii stood up as well, and put his hand on my shoulder, "Don't let Tsuyoi bully you into it," Tsuyoi's glare snapped towards me and Hayaii, "are you sure?" I blinked and nodded, giving Hayaii a reassuring smile, and attempting to do the same for Tsuyoi. Tsuyoi's eyes just narrowed even more and he shoved his hands into his pockets, looking anywhere but at me.
"Time for some more training then? Think you're up to it Hikaei?" Kikari-sensei asked, and I nodded, reaching to pull the arm bands on my forearms up higher, but when I felt soft skin and flesh, I froze, and looked down wildly. My tattoo's were completely exposed, and I snatched my arm bands away from Hayaii, who was holding them out to me. "Please don't remove these again." I mumbled, and I rushed out of the side room after Kikari-sensei.
Tsuyoi was already on the training grounds when I finished pulling on my arm bands. I stood where I was and he simply waited for Kikari-sensei to tell us to begin, looking again, anywhere but at me.
"Go ahead." It was instantaneous. I closed my eyes and took a breath to prepare myself to use my taijutsu, but I made a mistake- I thought close-range attacks were my talent, but it seemed as if standing 7 feet away from Tsuyoi- seemingly just close enough, for him to run up as fast as he could go, was a bad idea. His strength was immense- and I decided that Hayaii was a quick attacker, a long range person, and Tsuyoi, a strong and heavy attacker who was at least twice as slow as Hayaii. I slammed into the ground, and saw Hayaii slap his forehead. Tsuyoi seemed surprised that I'd been so easily taken down, as he muttered a quick, "Sorry," and helped me up.
But I was good at taking any opening my opponents would give me, and I took his hand, seeing him falter at how easily I'd accepted his gesture when he'd originally been so mean, but I stabbed at his other arm, with my free hand, disabling his limbs using the hand I grasped tightly and making it seem as if I was his acrobatic partner. But my angle was bad, due to having to hold him in place and prevent him from adding to the pulsing bruise on my stomach, and his arm grabbed my shoulder, his expression far from friendly, making me freeze.
"Some kind of technique." He smirked and pushed me with all his might to my left, and Hayaii easily caught me before I slammed into the wall, "We're done." Tsuyoi announced, knowing that had Hayaii not caught me, I would've been out of action for at least until the Chuunin Exam was over, "The girl can't hold her ground against a scary opponent Kikari-sensei." He folded his arms and Hayaii sighed, patting me on the head and saying apologetically, "You did well. I can't beat Tsuyoi in anything but speed and smarts, so don't worry about it."
Kikari-sensei shrugged, "I know. Hikaei." She glanced at me, "What's your name?"
I tightened my grip on Hayaii's chinese shirt, and he blinked, "Shioko Hikaei, right?"
Kikari-sensei stared at me and for the longest moment I was quiet before I nodded. Tsuyoi's scornful voice bit at me when he snapped, "Like we'd believe you after you had to think about it for that long." Kikari-sensei glanced at Tsuyoi and silenced him with a look, before nodding and saying, "When you're ready, you'll tell us who you are, won't you?" I would never be ready, but I nodded, and Hayaii stared at me uneasily. I avoided his gaze and stood up again.
"Hayaii, Tsuyoi, your turn. Hikaei, fix Tsuyoi's limbs." Kikari-sensei pointed at each of us, giving us directions, and I immediately held my chakra encased hand over each of the places I'd disabled him. Tsuyoi was ignoring me to the fullest, and smirking at Hayaii, who was smiling pleasantly. I wanted out of the way, and when I was done, Tsuyoi moved me aside stepping forward, Hayaii's smile turning sly when Hayaii took a step back in turn. "Begin." Kikari-sensei said with a yawn.
