Deciding on an electric type

I haven't started B/W yet, because I am finishing up on Soulsilver, but I decided I might as well decide on my team. I have everything pretty much worked out, but I am not sure what electric type pokemon to use (after the league, when I can trade over).

Pikachu has volt tackle, but is over-used. Luxray can use the +fang attacks, but I already have Dragonair as a variety based attacker, Ampharos is a strong electric pokemon, but I am kind of put off by its appearance. I would use Emolga just for the fact that I'm trying to use more of the new gen pokemon, but I am not sure how great its stats are. If I could breed a luxio to know volt tackle I would do that, but I am 92% sure that is not possible.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Elektross all the way. It has great stats and an awesome movepool. It's best as a mixed sweeper.

If you're going for a good electric type, use either Elektross or Galvantula. Both awesome Pokemon, though I prefer Galvantula because he is faster.

    Here are the movesets:

    Elektross
    Levitate
    -Thunderbolt
    -Flamethrower
    -Grass Knot
    -Dragon Claw/Crunch

    HP: 80
    ATK: 115
    DEF:80
    SAT:105
    SDF:80
    SPD: 50

Right-o, Thunderbolt because that's pretty obvious, Flamethrower for coverage. Grass knot to hit Rocks and grounds for super-effective who otherwise will resist most of your attacks. Dragon claw can be useful against dragons, whereas Crunch will help you beat up Psychics and Ghosts.

    Galvantula
    Compoundeyes
    -Thunder/Electro Ball
    -Energy Ball
    -Bug Buzz
    -Sucker Punch/Thunder Web/Agility

    HP: 70
    ATK: 77
    DEF:60
    SAT:97
    SDF:60
    SPD: 108

Compundeyes will raise Thunder's accuracy, but electro ball will become more powerful the faster you are compared to you opponent. That's why agility's there.

Please note that there are many other pokemons who are also able to use electric attacks,
but I guess if you're really looking for an electric type, these two are by far the greatest.

The choise is up to you!

I agree, although I haven't tried him (might now) I'd go with Eelektross. I've heard great things about him and his brilliant stats (specifically Attack) and let's not forget some of the powerful moves he can learn!
Bit tough to train at first but once he's evolved you won't regret it.

I'm not planning an Electric type when I play Black (I'm going to get Gothitelle and teach it an Electric attack) but I can still help you.

Use Zebstrika early on, then try getting Eelektross, it has no weaknesses compared to Galvantula. Avoid Emolga altogether.

You want Eelektross, 'cause I think one of it's abilities is levitate, which eliminates it's weakness to ground xD
