Fairly debated topic, but we've seen official evidence that it is, at least in part, a cat. But why, if it's based on the kamaitachi and has "weasel" right there in its name?

My two cents attached, originally written in response to a negative comment on someone else's fan art.

Could Sneasel's height also reference the moryo, said to be about the size of a three-year-old child?

    Sneasel: 0.9m
Average height of a 3yo boy in Japan: 0.93m

Belated response! Well, a question moreso - is this something you would like to be put on Daily, and if so is that picture the extent of the article or rather a base for it?

Only if it's deemed informative enough.

Pic covers the gist of it, but there's room for others' opinions. Some, for example, see the "nicked" ear as a nod to split ears stray/feral cats may receive in scuffles, while Lockstin theorized in his Sneasler video a while back that it could reference ear-tipping. Who wouldn't be tempted to turn yokai if someone caught and neutered you against your will and, on top of that, snipped off the tip of your ear?

I think the topic itself certainly works, and what you already have is informative enough. For aq standalone article rather than being a response to someone else, it will need an introduction.

Examples of TPC featuring it amongst cat merchandise would be good. I am also aware of a Cafe Remix event involving cat Pokemon: https://pokemon-cafe-remix.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000000107659

JSYK, we also had this different article regarding Sneasel's design - maybe worth a reference/link to within your article as well: https://daily.pokecommunity.com/2021/09/19/the-curious-development-of-sneasel/

I'll try to get to that soon!

You know I haven't thought about Sneasel to be a cat. But what you wrote makes sense.
Will this apply to Sneasler too I wonder?

I've yet to really delve into Sneaseler, though its claws do seem to have been based specifically on bagh nakh (tiger claws), especially their exaggerated appearance in media (see also: cat claws). It and H-Sneasel's fur pattern also brings to mind colorpoint cats—lilac points in particular—though weasels can also have similar patterning.

It's a good point - Hisuian Sneasel is much later so comparing it to the main line would be a nice dimension to the article.
