Shoddy junkies, don't get your hopes up.

So, I'm really...=| at my current WiFi team. Everything dies like way too easy. So, in lieu of that, I'm making a team that can take hits and dish them out at the same time.

    The Team...

    The Overview...

[PokeCommunity.com] Defense Is the Best Offense - A Platinum RMT

    Raphael (Azelf) @ Choice Specs
    Timid
    4 HP, 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed
    -Trick
    -Stealth Rock
    -Fire Blast
    -Psychic / Taunt

    Sexy nickname, huh?
Standard Trickzelf lead. Often times, I'll be obtaining a Focus Sash from Aero or other Zelf, and Choice-lock them into Stealth Rock. Most Leadzelf run physical sets with U-Turn, Explosion, and even the odd Zen Headbutt. Still, Aerodactyl doesn't like wearing glasses, nor does anything that can utilize Pursuit (SpecsTar? Don't take this one literally, Vance.)

[PokeCommunity.com] Defense Is the Best Offense - A Platinum RMT

Dr. Tran (Heatran) @ Shed Shell
    Modest
248 HP, 56 Special Attack, 204 Special Defense
    -Lava Plume
    -Earth Power
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk

Screw Scarftran. RestTalk Tran allows me to absorb status better, and Fire/Ground give plenty coverage in Platinum's metagame.
[PokeCommunity.com] Defense Is the Best Offense - A Platinum RMT

    Tweety (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
    Bold
    252 HP, 220 Defense, 36 Speed
    -Roost
    -Discharge
    -Heat Wave
    -Roar

PHazer, main Scizor/Lucario counter ("counter" for the latter). Roost is obvious, Discharge > TBolt because, omfg, I LIKE Discharge more! 30% chance for paralysis > 10 BP IMO. Heat Wave is for Steels who plague the metagame, and Roar > HP Grass because I outspeed Swampert anyway, and I'll just Roar away its Curses if it tries that.

[PokeCommunity.com] Defense Is the Best Offense - A Platinum RMT

    Barbeque (Rotom-H) @ Choice Scarf
    Timid
    4 HP, 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed
    -Trick
    -Thunderbolt
    -Overheat
    -Shadow Ball

As if one Trickster wasn't enough. This thing will rip holes in any sweeper, and then, if Blissey rears her ugly head, she gets Scarfed. The three attacks are Rotom-H's staple moves.

[PokeCommunity.com] Defense Is the Best Offense - A Platinum RMT

    Scrambler (Blissey) @ Leftovers
    Natural Cure
    Calm
252 Defense, 80 Special Attack, 176 Special Defense
    -Softboiled
    -Seismic Toss
    -Thunder Wave
    -Ice Beam / Aromatherapy

Standard Bliss, it's never let me down (except when hax comes into play) like ever. Ice Beam vs. Aroma is dependent on what I fear more; status or Dragons. I'm leaning to Ice Beam to deal with Salamence.

[PokeCommunity.com] Defense Is the Best Offense - A Platinum RMT

Howzer (Gliscor) @ Life Orb / Leftovers
    Sand Veil
    Jolly
    120 HP, 200 Attack, 188 Speed
    -Swords Dance
    -Roost
    -Earthquake
    -Ice Fang

The sexiest Pokemon like ever, Gliscor is another answer to a problem this team has on paper: Lucario. I want as much insurance as I can get against it, so I pack my favorite Pokemon of all to deal with it. It Swords Dances up, Roosts off Life Orb recoil and paltry physical hits, and strikes back with Earthquake and Ice Fang hits Dragons, which I can't do very effectively otherwise (Salamence and the soon to be former underdog Flygon pose massive problems for this team).

Dragons pose a pretty big problem to this team. I might try Scarf Flygon for kicks. Suggestions?

For the record, If you can Trick a Pokemon onto a non-attacking move, then Taunt them, they should struggle. This could be great for wall breaking. Psychic is just the most suitable filler.

If you attack and switch out, people will presume it's choiced, anyway. Lava Plume or Fire Blast. Leftovers is an issue, though. You could always go for Charcoal, so there is more damage output without revealing the lack of a Scarf.

To be honest, you don't really have any way of breaking Swampert. Unless you Trick it or Shadow Ball it to death, which is still unreliable, given Rotom is easily Pursuited out of the picture.

Fine. Try to keep it scarfed for as long as possible, as it is a much needed revenge killer.

You have Heatran for Status absorbtion, and you can OHKO and Dragons wishing to set up on you. Or TWave, them, first.

-Ice Fang / Fire Fang / Aerial Ace

The sexiest Pokemon like ever, Gliscor is another answer to a problem this team has on paper: Lucario. I want as much insurance as I can get against it, so I pack my favorite Pokemon of all to deal with it. It Swords Dances up, Roosts off Life Orb recoil and paltry physical hits, and strikes back with Earthquake and the last attack, which I'm unsure of. Ice Fang hits Dragons, which I can't do very effectively otherwise (Salamence and the soon to be former underdog Flygon pose massive problems for this team), Fire Fang provides EVEN MORE coverage against Scizor, Forretress, Lucario, and others, and Aerial Ace gives me STAB and owns Heracross in the face.
Ice Fang is the better option, as EQ hits Lucario, and the others can be dealt with by other means. (More reason to run Psychic on Azelf?) Just keep Rotom alive.
Also, I recommend running 216 Spd to outspeed Jolly Luke, who would otherwise hurt with Ice Punch. (It can OHKO most of the time with Life Orb. That's without a SD). So, [ 172 Atk, 120 Def, 216 Spd ] should work, as I think you'd be better focusing on Physical Hits. Oh and Hyper Cutter makes Gyara and Mence switch-ins more manageable. Nickname: Not a Tail. :D
Dragons pose a pretty big problem to this team. I might try Scarf Flygon for kicks. Suggestions?
Another Choice User would be a liabilty, regardless of Trick. Flygon is one of the best candidates to be choiced though, with how it takes entry hazards.

Shed Shell is a MUST on Resttalk Heatran.

Fire Blast is really silly though since just switching Heatran in on any attack will likely give it away, and using a vastly inferior attack just for the possibility or "surprising" somebody isn't a great idea.

and if you don't mind me asking, why do you have both Zapdos AND Scarf Rotom-h? Or am I missing something? o_O

Oh yeah, Dugtrio. I figured it could deal with Magnezone well enough.

Zapdos and Rotom are slight variations on each other. If you go with Zapdos, I'd recommend running Weavile or another Revenge killer over Rotom, as it doesn't require a Scarf (Life Orb is favourable), and can take out the dragons you mentioned. Plus there's billions of them in trade threads from early DP. :D

    I'll take your advice, guys.

    Considering:

    Weavile @ Life Orb
    Jolly
    252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
    -Ice Shard
    -Ice Punch / Aerial Ace
    -Pursuit / Night Slash
    -Brick Break / Swords Dance

    >> Rotom.

But unsure of what set and moves to use. Suggestions?

I don't mean to sound all "dsfkhsdfkghsdkghflkgheg" but I suggest not using Weavile. Lack of ability to one-shot Hippowdon after a SD about proves it...plus, if you use SD, you pretty much can't use Pursuit which is one of Weavile's only uses it actually pulls off okay.

If you're going to use a SDer, Lucario or Heracross are both far better choices.

The biggest reason I'm using Weavile is to deal with Dragons.

Is there something that can counter Dragons and Swampert effectively? That would fix this team up quite nicely, frankly.

Well you might want to keep rotom or Gyarados kinda mashes you.

I ask a question though "How do you plan to do damage?" this is one of these so called "balanced teams" too little offense to sweep so you will get swept by foe offensive team with ease and not enough residual damage for stall so you will get beat by foe stall too easily. Its stuck in the middle which means it aint gonna work, especially in this metagame. You need to decide if you want to stall or go full out offense (or bulky offense) this team is neither at the moment.

In addition, i will ask you another question "Why are you foe Weavile and Blissey weak?" o_o lol

I was gonna say it wouldnt take much to make this a stall team actually lol. All you have to do is like shove a starmie in somewhere for Gyarados/Mixape, SR on Glis and forry >> azelf o__O
