Hi, people. Name's Vikalp. 18 year old. I live somewhere in India. Currently studying. Plan to become a software engineer in the future. Or maybe a game developer. I'm not sure. Definitely sure about the fact that I'm gonna be someone who's in the computer line of field, though.

Things I like - I love listening to music. Been a huge fan of bands like Slipknot, System of a Down, Breaking Benjamin, Bullet For My Valentine, Blue Stahli, Celldweller, Poet of the fall and a few more. Mostly like listening to hard rock/metal, tbh. Been listening to a lot of Japaneses stuff as of late too. Blame it on my obsession with japanese anime, haha. Some Japanese bands/singers that I'm a fan of include - RAIN, YUI, Shoko Nakagawa and Ruppina.

I'm quite a fan of anime and manga in general. One Piece is my favorite manga/anime series. May come of as a person obsessed with it, tbh. Don't blame you, haha. That's not to say I don't enjoy other series, though. I read Naruto, Bleach, Beelzebub, Kuroko No Basket, Fairy Tail and stuff like Freezing weekly. Mostly a fan of shounen. I like some seinen too. Berkserk (still at volume 23 I think) and Monster were amazing, imo.

I look over the art section here so it's a given that I love art in general. Used to love drawing when I was younger. Though I realized I sucked so I kinda...stopped doing much of it. I'm into graphics, though! Been doing it for almost three years now. :3

Mmm, that's it, I guess? Throw all 'em questions at me, guise!

asdf do they joke about rupees and

in India? Or is it another one of those American racist-things?

And also what part of indiaaaaa culturally?

Nope. Video Gaming in India particularly revolves around PC. Most users are PC users. And most of them are pirates. Very few people know about Zelda. So it's only natural that almost none of them might know about the rupees thing, haha.

Hmm, I can specify, I guess. I was born in Madhya Pradesh - basically the heart of India. My mannerism and way of talking is similar to that of a person from that state. But dad's got a transferable job so we travel from place to place every 3-4 years. Currently in a state called Maharashtra. It's situated on the west coast of India. :3 Also, you guys probably don't know but we have tons of different languages in India. Almost each state has its own language. So yeah, people from Maharashtra speak different language than people from Madhya Pradesh.

But how much do they know about Pokémon?

What do you think of all the crazy going on in India and the problems?

Also what do you think of the…um dalits if I remember 7th grade correctly? I heard many higher-up people in India (ie people with internet) don't really like them.

But how much do they know about Pokémon?
I think most know about it, at least. But not sure if they know about the existence of the games. Can't really say. Only one out of like 50 friends of mine has played pokemon. You do the math. :p

As for the latter two questions...I'll require some time to answer those. It's 3:22 AM over here so I'll head to bed for now. Promise I won't leave them unanswered, though!

Quite a lot of crazy stuff going on in India, indeed. The basic problem behind all of India's problems, in my opinion, is population explosion and lack of proper education. You probably have heard about the Delhi Rape incident, hmm? If not, I'll give you the gist of it in short - be warned though, graphic stuff. Don't read if you're someone who can't digest graphic stuff
    Spoiler:
She died after being brutally gangraped by a couple of men for no fault of her except that she was traveling in the bus late at night.

People who did it can't be called humans. They're monsters (haven't checked but honestly if they haven't been hanged by now then screw the government of India - they all can just go die somewhere). And I believe, partially, lack of education plays a role in these sorts of incidents. Education enhances a person's personality. Can't imagine an educated person engaging in a disgusting act like this. So yeah, we really do need to step up our game when it comes to spreading education.

Talking of education, it's actually pretty good where people have access to it. The standard of education and the quality of teachers are both really high. Speaking from my own experience. I've changed 4-5 schools, after all. All had good teachers.

Population explosion is just making things worse for us. Too many people; not enough jobs. The competition is INSANE. You can't get a good job if you haven't studied your ass off in the 12th standard and come from a good, reputed college.

    There's more...but eh, this'll suffice, I guess? I realize that this probably wasn't a straightforward answer and not the one you were looking for so sorry. XD;

Well, they were treated pretty badly in the past. Treated like ****, actually. But their condition is MUCH better now. Those guys actually have quite a lot of advantages, actually. They have reservations. They can get into top colleges of India very easily. They don't have to work their ass off to get promotions - they get one regularly very easily. They move up in ranks faster, as a result. At least in government institutions, but yeah.

Honestly, I think that their privileges should be taken away now. Sure, they were treated like **** 60 years ago but that's not the case now. They're treated almost like every other person now. No need for these crappy reservations. It hurts a non-dalit person like me a lot when we see a dalit guy get into amazing colleges without doing 1/4th of what we did. People should get things based on their merit; not on the basis of caste. :/

Hey sport; you're pretty talented when it comes to GFX, so, I'm just wondering: What first nspired you in creating all of your Graphics work?
Well, I used to see all these people running around in their stunning themes all the time during my n00b phase at PC. Themes of people like Gav and Siggeh impressed me to no end, especially. And I'm a very competitive person, haha. I couldn't digest the fact that there were so many people who had better looking avatars/signatures while all I had sucked. Siggeh, in those days (and even now), was someone I looked up to. I wanted to be like her. Or at least look as stylish as her.

So I started making tags. But they all sucked a lot. They were basically just text slapped over images I used to google. So I resorted to tutorials. I did pick up a few tricks here and there. But still, not much improvement. Then I contacted Gav and he gave me some advise on some of my stuff. Told me to open a gallery. That was it. I used to make tons of tags, gav and moo used to provide critique and I used to read all of those long-ass posts and take notes. Little by little, I improved. And here I am now, 3 years later. Making stuff that looks 100x better than what I used to do before. :3

I always thought I should do it. Now? Not so sure. Visiting other countries is one thing while settling down is something totally different. Not sure if I'll be able to live away from my country for long. It's not the best place in the world but that doesn't change the fact that it still is my home. <3; Then there's the fact that attacks on Indians in foreign countries has been on the rise. It has happened tons of times in Australia and probably happens in England and America too. Dunno, feel a little insecure at times. :/

Software developer is an option that's just...there. I'll study computer science in college and probably get a job as a software designer somewhere. My real passion lies in game development, I feel. What I plan to do is get a job and study game development side-by-side. Doubt I'd be able to pick 'game development' in my college since not many colleges in India give us the choice. And those that do aren't really all that good. :(

I always thought that when I grow up I'll make sure to choose a field of job which doesn't end up being a burden. I'm not someone who can give my 100% to something that I do not enjoy. But that ain't the case with game development. I've always been interested in it. Used to mess around with file extensions and their names in a game called Little Fighter 2 when I was 10-12 and the fact that I could unlock unobtainable characters and their cool powers by tinkering with a few files would give me immense pleasure. If I become a developer, I'd be able to do cool stuff like that but on a much larger scale. I'm not as creative as quite a lot of people but I've always enjoyed creating things. I feel really happy when something I do is deemed creative by other people. That's partially the reason behind me being a graphic artist as well but I digress. As a game developer, I'll be able to enjoy limitless freedom and probably be able to create something that people like and appreciate. Granted, I'll only handle a specfic part of the development process but I'll still be satisfied since I know I'll be contributing to the overall project. No feeling's better than watching the fruits of your hard work be appreciated by thousands of people all over the world, in my opinion. Plus, I'm a gamer myself so anything I make will also be enjoyed by myself in the end, if that makes any sense. :p

How did you come up with the idea of creating your signature/how did you go about it? Do you plan to go to the more CSS-y side of graphics like Gav does?

Ooh you're name's really cool! What does your name mean and what is it's origin?

Edit: I mean your real name not username, btw.

    I second AWsquared. Why "Derozio"?

Do you ever use graphic design as a coping mechanism? Or is it something you do exclusively when you're in a good mood? Do you feel that your state of mind influences the end result? I know it does when I draw, but I want to get a better grip on how graphic design fits into your everyday life. :)

Most importantly, we all know what your favorite anime is. What's your second favorite anime? Gimme a list of top three not including OP.

OMFG Dero I sat here trying to think of a really cool question but ultimately, FAIRY TAIL!!1 Ahhh I wasn't aware you were a fan of Fairy Tail AND One Piece! I've been totally having a reprise of the height of my Fairy Tail fan days as of late-- I've reread nearly the whole series this week haha! Who's your favorite character-- and are you up to date?! What do you think of the latest arc?!

Also, when it comes to graphics, about how many layers do you usually use in a tag? I know some people use like a kajillion (coughme) but some people use very few!

That's all for now, I'LL HAVE MANY MORE IN THE FUTURE I'M SURE *V*

    tl;dr alert!

Nica - How did you come up with the idea of creating your signature/how did you go about it?
Well, I'll assume that you're asking me about the stuff that I generally have in my signature. A tag and a little bit of CSS here and there (mostly below it), I mean.

I'll be honest, it's just an imitation. I've never been the one to do something innovative. Used to see Siggeh and Maly have a similar layout so that's what I went with. I find it easy to do and sort-of attractive. No need to fiddle around much with the code. Recyclable, in other words, haha.

Nica - Do you plan to go to the more CSS-y side of graphics like Gav does?
Nope. I'm content with what I know - the basics. I'll probably study web-design a bit sometime in the future but as far as going into the 'CSS-y side of graphics' right now...it is a no. That's not to say I find it uninteresting. It's really fascinating and the stuff Gav does is really commendable but I just don't think I have the time or the motivation to start learning it now.

AWsquared - Ooh you're name's really cool! What does your name mean and what is it's origin?
lmao I thought you were talking about my username. :p Anyway, it means an "alternative" in Hindi. An example - When you say "Ooh, that's a good alternative since I don't have to use rare candies!" you can use the word "Vikalp" when translating it into Hindi. The Hindi translation is this, btw "Ooh, woh kaafi accha vikalp hai kyunki mujhe rare candies istemaal nahi karni padengi!"

Quite a boring meaning, I know, haha. And no origin. Because it doesn't hold any significant meaning apart from "alternative". :p But oh well, at least you guys find it cool, lmao.

    Alexial - Why "Derozio"?
Ehh, it's just a cool sounding name I came across by accident, lol.

A few years ago PC used to have name-changes as a feature and I had ended up with an extremely crappy username "Crusher 1". I originally made an account "Crusher" just to download Shiny Gold but somehow lost its password. So I made another account (yeah yeah, I was so creative. Adding '1' in front of my original name like that lmao). But as time went by, I came to dislike the '1' in it. I found it extremely n00b-y and wanted to get rid of it asap. So I started to look for cool usernames. For god knows what reason I decided to start looking for names in my history textbook. And then I came across it:

    Spoiler:

I took an instant liking to it and decided it'll be my new username. Turns out that it was actually the name of a philosopher. Ironic because I'm not philosophical in the least, haha.

Alexial - Do you ever use graphic design as a coping mechanism? Or is it something you do exclusively when you're in a good mood? Do you feel that your state of mind influences the end result? I know it does when I draw, but I want to get a better grip on how graphic design fits into your everyday life.
Ah, I'm not sure. I almost never do it as a coping mechanism. I just do it whenever I feel like it. And when do I feel like it, you ask? I don't know. Whenever I get bored of my theme, perhaps. :p But yeah, I generally open PS whenever I feel the need to change my theme/participate in SoTWs on other sites. I force myself to do it though. The times when I'm genuinely motivated to do a tag/LP are very rare. As a result, 90% of the time things are like this

    >Dero is bored of his theme
    >Though not in the mood
    >But he doesn't feel like wearing the theme even for a single more second
    >Dero opens up PS even though he doesn't really want to make a tag.

The end result can be anything ranging from horrendously bad to somewhat decent. There are times when I'm genuinely in the mood for some experimentation and I end up sitting on my computer for hours on end working on a single tag but they're very rare, like I said before. The end result is almost always something I'm satisfied with in those cases, though. And that's because I don't stop fiddling with the piece till it looks semi-decent/likeable in my eyes. So yeah, I would say that the end result is definitely influenced by my state of mind. To put it in short, tags when I'm motivated almost always turn out good (I think so, at least) while there's a probability of the result turning out extremely crappy if I'm not in the mood and am merely forcing myself to do it. :p

Alexial - Most importantly, we all know what your favorite anime is. What's your second favorite anime? Gimme a list of top three not including OP.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, JO? This is a really difficult question, lmao. I've seen many different anime but whenever someone asks me to list them in the order of them being my faves it becomes extremely hard for me to do it. Idk, it's like this for me

#1 - One Piece > All the other faves

One Piece stands at the top while I place other anime in a "this is another fave of mine" group. It's a group and there's no hierarchy in it. :< So I won't really be giving you a list of top three, I'm afraid. Although I can list some of my faves if that's okay. :p All of these have made me go crazy at one point of time or the other.

    Death Note

    - Loved it to bits till 25th episode. A twist at every corner and the way L and Light go about having a battle of wits is just amazing. It goes downhill from ep 25, imo, but is still a really good experience regardless.

    Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

    - It is, overall, one of the best anime I've ever seen. It exceeds most anime in every department be it animation, soundtrack, voice acting, plot or characters.

    Hunter X Hunter

    - Really good storyline, likeable characters and some good art direction. The fights are really creative too which is something I like. Although I prefer the older anime (it's being remade right now. Called the "Hunter X Hunter 2011" :p) due to the fact that the original's animation was a lot more rough around the edges. Sure, from an animation point of view the newer one's more advanced but I feel that the original's rough look suited the story and gave it a very good atmosphere. Plus, its pacing was perfect.

    Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

    - Mother of epicness. Honestly, I love it. It's not for everyone since it is one of the most over-the-top anime I've ever seen. No, scratch that. Nothing tops it when it comes to being over-the-top, lmao.

    Berserk

    - Unlike the others, this is a seinen title. Animation is crappy and backgrounds are generally bland. Soundtrack is nothing special, either. But the plot. The plot, man. It's really good. Guts and Griffith, the two main characters, are both really interesting. Griffith is commonman but a charismatic leader who dreams of establishing and ruling his own country someday. His charisma is unrivalled. Guts is someone who he comes across as an enemy but they soon become unseperable friends. Under Griffith, Guts fights off thousands of soldiers in wars which they end up winning almost everytime. Everything's going on nicely and Griffith's really close to achieving his dream. One fine day, Guts decides to leave after hearing Griffith say that he does not consider anyone his friend unless they are worthy of standing on the same pedestral as him. He decides he's had enough of following Griffith around and needs to find a dream of his own. He leaves. And chaos ensues. And holy ****. The chaos. It's too much. Not for the faint of heart. Everyone have a solid backstory to them. I'm a sucker for those so that's another plus for this anime. Ultimately, it's a very realistic tale (there are supernatural elements in it but I'm basically talking about the realistic character interactions, backstories, emotional struggle and plot progression) revolving around the relationship between Guts, Griffith and Casca. Oh, I forgot, Casca's the third main character technically. She's the female lead and is well developed. :3

Oh, and it has a shocking ending. You'd definitely go "WHAT. THE. ****." at the end. I guarantee it. People call it the most shocking ending in the history of anime and I agree. I really like it, though.

Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack On Titans)

    - It's only 6 episodes long at the moment. But it has made me read the manga till I got caught up with the latest chapter. The story is good. Plot twists are aplenty. Characters are likeable. Mikasa, Annie and Sasha are far cry from the regular female characters I come across in anime these days. No fanservice, either. :D

    Slam Dunk!

    - Hilarious show. A show about Hanamichi Sakuragi - a guy with no aim in life apart from going to college and ending up with a good-looking girl. But he's bad at it. I don't remember how many girls declined his proposal but the number exceeds 50. Enter Haruko - sister of the basketball club's captain. He falls for her and ends up joining the basketball team. It's a tale of how he improves and actually does start caring about the sport and his teammates even though he merely joined for the girl in the first place.

    GTO!

    - Another hilarious one. Eikichi Onizuka is a 20+ year old virgin who is really perverted. Someone gives him the idea that he could end up with girls in their sixteens when he's in his forties if he chooses teaching as a profession. Guess what? He decides to become a teacher. But he's nothing apart from a brute. A person with no noteworthy educational qualification and a history of crime ends up being a teacher in a very prestigious school [no, him ending up in that school isn't an asspull. It has explanation 8)]. And hilarity ensues. Won't say much apart from the fact that he's, hands down, the best teacher a person can ever have.

    Code Geass R1 & R2

    - It's like Death Note but with Mechs. :p Animation's really good. Same goes for almost everything about this anime. Main characters are likeable and plot twists are really well done. It has, in my opinion, one of the best endings of any anime ever.

Loki - OMFG Dero I sat here trying to think of a really cool question but ultimately, FAIRY TAIL!!1 Ahhh I wasn't aware you were a fan of Fairy Tail AND One Piece! I've been totally having a reprise of the height of my Fairy Tail fan days as of late-- I've reread nearly the whole series this week haha! Who's your favorite character-- and are you up to date?! What do you think of the latest arc?!
Hmm, my fave has to be Erza, I guess. She's just badass and really attractive, imo. Find her more attractive than Lucy, in fact. Her magic's interesting too. Though I feel she's very overpowered. The ability to bend the laws of magic and transcend everything literally turning into god (talking about the stuff that she did a few chapters ago)? I say OP. XD; And yeah, I'm up-to-date. The latest arc is okay. Was not a fan of how the tournament ended but things are getting better with the dragons' appearance. Was turned off by the unnecessary fan-service in the latest chapter, though. It was just...ugh. I disliked it.

Though, to be honest, I'm not heavily into FT like I'm with One Piece. :p I just read it for fun. I've stopped taking it seriously a long time ago because quite a lot of fights are won just by nakama power and whatnot. So yeah. Although I'd say I really like the art-style. The females look much better than the ones in One Piece, for instance.

Loki - Also, when it comes to graphics, about how many layers do you usually use in a tag? I know some people use like a kajillion (coughme) but some people use very few!
lmao I end up using millions of layers. XD; I'm not one who cares about the number of layers. In fact, every tag/icon of mine has like 15-25 adjustment layers. Only adjustment layers. If that's how many adjustment layers I use then imagine the number of layers that comprise of the effects used, the text and everything else. You do the math, haha.

Harlequin - ok but what do you think about evangelion
I'm intrigued by it. I've heard good things about it. Plus I hear that it has a WTF ending. And I love those. Plan to watch it sometime soon. :3

I always liked Arlong, even if he is a total jerk, I thought he was cool and was one of the Straw Hat's biggest biggest threats early in the series.

Oh, arlong was definitely a cool villain. He legit made me wonder "how is luffy gonna beat this guy? He's so damn powerful!". But in all honesty, that question is a really difficult one to answer. One Piece has such an enormous number of likeable characters that it becomes extremely hard to pick one or two badasses from them. :< But if you're asking about pirates then let's see...I'd go with Blackbeard (kurohige). Sure, he's whiny as hell for the most part but what makes me like him is the fact that he's unlike the regular villains that we see in other shounen. He has the same goal as the main character but a radically different method of going about it. And he isn't someone who you'd call "evil" either. He just doesn't care what he has to do to achieve his goal, that's all. You can label him as a bad guy but he's not a one-dimensional evil villain who cares only about being EBILL!!!11! On top of that, he's goddamn powerful and durable. He has ****ing gura gura and yami yami for christ's sake! lmao

So yeah, Blackbeard it is. Although there are many others that I like - Crocodile, Whitebeard, Marco, Donquixote Doflamingo, Trafalgar Law, Jewellery Bonney (biased cuz she's hawt :p) and the list goes on~

What's your favorite artistic medium besides graphic art?
Digital art, I guess. I don't know...digital art looks very sleek and neat, imo. Not saying traditional's bad or anything because both have their +ves but yeah. I've never made a single digital piece, though. Don't have a tablet. :<

    1) Mythical Zoan: Model Cerberus - Transform into a Cerberus.
    2) Earth-Earth fruit - Power to control land ftw! :p
    3) Rebound-Rebound fruit - Wobbuffet effect. Attacks bounce off the user.
(yeah, Bartolomeo probably has this one. But technically it hasn't been revealed so...)
