Desirable starters?

    What kind of starters would you like to see for the three types, Grass, Water, and Fire? First off, you may or may not know that

    All Fire starters are based off of animals in the Chinese Zodiac.

    All Grass starters are based off of reptiles.

    All Water starters are based off of semi-aquatic animals.

    Following the traditional pattern above, what kind of starters would you personally like to see?

    Um, I personally would just go with whatever game Freak comes up with - I want to be surprised.

    Though a platypus would be coolios if that hasn't been made already.
     
    Hmm.. I wouldn't mind a tiger fire starter! Maybe even another take at a salamander Pokemon that turns into Fire/Ground. I am really tired of those Fire/Fighting types.

    Water starter? Hmm..I'm thinking of a platypus, or maybe even a sea dragon that is reminiscient of the Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter.

    Grass type, grass type.. maybe a flying dinosaur this time, or maybe even an grass starter that turns electric.
     
    @OP: I wouldn't consider the Cyndaquil line as animals based on the Chinese zodiac, even though Cyndaquil does resemble a mouse (not a rat, IMO).

    Anyway, as mentioned before, I'd like to see a non-Fire/Fighting starter in the future; we already have 3 of them. It could be an ox or a goat.

    YES YES YES! That's a really great idea!

    Maybe they can move on to the Horoscopes, I'd like to see a fiery ram!
     
    Ones with unique type combinations in the future, like grass/electric, water/steel, fire/poison... or something... unique. Especially with 3 fire/fightings in a row, they should try and step it up next time :/

    Maybe.. huh, a grass starter with only two front legs? I'm sure there's a reptile out there like that, lol. Or a frog/beaver water starter?

    Orrr maybe they could just stop limiting themselves by restricting the animals they can base them off of. What about like...a koala grass starter? lol
     
    you are all right, we are sick and tired of all the fire/fighting starters a fire/dark tiger as a fire starter would be totally cool XD

    i like cinnamon :)
     
    I'm not sick of Fire/Fighting. Its over used yes, but there is nothing wrong with the type combo. Its well balanced for starter types, which is most likely why its reused, not to mention the Fire/Fighting are used so often.

    I don't have a huge preference on starters. I'd love to see a Fire Bat. Legend of Zelda's Fire Kees were so cute XD I know it breaks the hypothesis starter pattern.

    Grass I'd like to see some kinda bug like Pokemon, and Water I wouldn't mind a non-traditional animal like a wolf or something XD
     
    I'd really like for there to be some funky second-typings with the final evolutions. To me, that was one of the biggest successes of DPPt, in that all of the final evolutions were really interesting because of their secondary type (yes, even Infernape). A Grass/Flying critter would be really interesting and could probably give Tropius a run for its money; a Fire/Psychic critter would also be kinda cool and not simply a 'ugh I'm a big strong Fire type'... but anything that isn't Fire/Fighting would be appreciated in my book; Water's been paired up with nearly everything, so it would be harder to surprise me... indeed, Empoleon is like my favourite starter from a conceptual point of view, even if I wouldn't think to use it in-game. More like those would be great.
     
    I would love to see a fire ox/goat/rabbit/snake if they were to continue said pattern. As for the grass types, I'd want to see something like a horny toad or a triceratops.

    For water I'd want a squid. Or a platypus. Or maybe even a bear!

    I would really like some cool dual typings though, with all the starters. Perhaps fire/posion to make a more defensive fire starter? Perhaps a water/fighting could be cool, and a grass/ghost could be pretty cool.

    But I'm mainly just excited for whatever gamefreak puts out, as I know it'll be good. :D
     
    I didn't know that about the Chinese Zodiac! :) In that case - a fire snake starter for sure :bandit:

    For grass maybe an alligator and water perhaps a sea lion :)

    Everything is better than Grovyle, no seriously the Treecko evolutionary line is the worst starter family.

    But back on track I don't really mind i just like many others have stated would like something other than fire and fighting i don't really mind i find Fire fighting to be quite a balanced type set but i would like a change. But i wouldn't mind more dinosaur Pokemon and i think like a little raptor thing become a fully fledged fire breathing dinosaur would be pretty cool.

    As for Grass, i have only ever liked two grass type (Turtwig and Bulbasaur) the others are pretty crap, so for me i would just like a starter that is halfway decent. I would however like to return to the four legged grass starters Snivy was awful.

    Water type, I like all the water starters if I'm honest but none other than Squirtle and Mudkip none have ever really been fantastic in my eyes but i do like all of them. So i would leave this in game freaks hands.
