I've mentioned this before, but I think this does pose a problem, especially for Japan. Herbivore men (men that don't want sex, essentially) use ecchi and pornography as a substitute for sex to the point where the desire for it wanes. This has done its part to affect low birth rates in Japan, because a good percent of Japan's male youth are herbivores. Conversely, because of this, there are a number of women who aren't interested- at least, not in Japanese men.

The reason this ties in is because when you see how huge the market is for things such as Body Pillows, various abstinence reinforces, and the general casual commercialization of sex (especially among anime and game merchandising, as well as anime and games themselves), it's not too difficult to see why. Especially considering that this is something that people grow up with and around.
